Planting Kanikunna - Mission This Vishu

A small thought and desire as we come to an end of this day. 15th April has turned out to be a very special day for me.

Seeing people struggling to get Kanikonna (Cassia fistula) flower this year , which is such a beautiful golden shower and the state flower of Kerala.  Urge each one to plant at least one tree of this flower.  In your own backyard if you have some space, or gift it to someone who you think will take care of it?

Can you please spread this word? We need more trees, and this one is beautiful indeed.

"... മനസ്സിലുണ്ടാവട്ടേ

ഗ്രാമത്തിൻ വെളിച്ചവും

മണവും മമതയും -

ഇത്തിരി കൊന്നപ്പൂവും!"

-- വൈലോപ്പിള്ളി

My dad would say planting a tree help keep alive the memory of your loved ones. Dedicated to a person you love.

Losing a loved one on this day couple of years before, this is for you. Do share pics when done.

William Makepeace Thackeray is actually credited to saying “Whatever you are, try to be a good one” to a small boy (Laurence Hutton) when asking him about his aspirations when he grew up!

In 1904, the quote was shortened to “Whatever you are, be a good one” by the Boston Herald when reprinting an excerpt from Laurence Hutton’s Memoirs.

Is'nt it much needed, simple and sweet one?

Be you. Unique you. It's okay to be different and not be part of the crowd. Endure. Be Loyal. Value yourself and your unique talents.

The best way out of difficulties is through it. It is practise and the very act of going through hardship that things become easier.

How often have we been getting ready, to get ready, to get ready to start, but never started?

That dream destination,
That fantasy job,
That pet project,
That perfect weight,
That amazing book,
That family time,

That......
That....
That...

Want to run a marathon?

Get out of your home, wear your shoes and start with small steps today.

As is said "The journey of thousand miles begins with a single step".

Keep that step forward and let the rest follow.

Don't look back. Be consistent. Make small progress.

"Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”

“All men and women are born, live suffer and die; what distinguishes us one from another is our dreams, whether they be dreams about worldly or unworldly things, and what we do to make them come about... We do not choose to be born. We do not choose our parents. We do not choose our historical epoch, the country of our birth, or the immediate circumstances of our upbringing. We do not, most of us, choose to die; nor do we choose the time and conditions of our death. But within this realm of choicelessness, we do choose how we live.”

Are you feeling overwhelmed right now? Remember, these are emotions — thoughts. You are most likely not a lighthouse keeper about to be engulfed by a massive wave. Take a deep breath and stand firm. Imagine you’re the lighthouse and decide to be strong and steady. Focus your light on others, and you’ll forget your problems for a while.

The waves will come, and yes, they could sweep you out to sea, but most likely, you’ll find a way to avoid them.

Each of us are Individually Made.
In Psalm 139, David's praying to God and he says, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” This speaks of the care and attention with which God has made us. By now, God has made billions of human beings, but we're not mass-produced. We're not churned out in a mechanistic way. Though we are all similar but each of us are unique. "Talents differ, all is well and wisely put. "

You will find that there are numerous people who only dream big and talk big. But if you want to convert your dreams into a reality, you have to work on it. You must prepare yourself so that you can achieve your goal without any issues.  Build your habits and routine around your goals.

Song Lyrics:

Out of the tree of life I just picked me a plum
You came along and everything's startin' to hum
Still, it's a real good bet, the best is yet to come
Best is yet to come and babe, won't that be fine?

Yet Another Birthday...

How time fly, and so do life. Thank you God for this life.

Thanks for yet another year on this mother Earth. Thanks for keeping my mom, though I miss my dad terribly. I know he is there, connecting and fulfilling my desires.

It was amazing having a job, getting wishes from my colleagues, as usual from Lynnette first, and then Geetha's Bhabi. Calls, emails, whatsapp, messages - it was a great day; though unlike my 40th - could not meet my family members, had dinner with Rajesh and Gigesh and Jinu came to wish.

Next day could take Neil to Potta and the science park.

 Picked

Saro, went to meet Aneena and with all kids had a great time at Lulu, where Sandra joined - and we were back to childhood, playing games, surprise icecream cake cutting, pizza, chocolates.

The kids made beautiful card, but unfortunately it was left in the car.  So went to collect it the next day, and met Ramya and Sowmya. Night had dinner with Gigeesh family, Mili and Thasni.

And the fortnight of birthday celebrations ends with official birthday on 13th April being bedridden.
