Marriages are made in Heaven - Fatema Desai

'Marriages are made in heaven'  by Fatima Desai  follows Hina, navigating her life the only way she knows. 58th of 2021.

Hina's life is full of half truths and sneaking around to just live her life. But this might just be Hina's biggest challenge yet, a marriage of convenience , even she might not be able to pull off just so she can finally get her happily ever after.

A Desi rom com. Hina lovable, but unpredictable the epitome of the 'good Indian girl' has done everything the way her parents wanted, except who she fell in love with. As a British Indian, Hina's hybrid cultures are at loggerheads and she can't find the right time to tell her parents about her secret lover Richard, without what she thinks will send them to their graves.

Enters the charismatic and charming Chetan 'the very Indian suitor' who may just have given her a solution to all her problems 'a fake marriage' and before she knows it Hina's knee deep in a web of lies. Chetan steadily grows on her and she starts questioning whether she should be with Richard at all. Can Hina pull off the deception of the century without losing sight of her goal? Chetan saves her from his plan.

Parents were worried about the shame the dishonour. Cultural identity was too important a thing, it made them who they were, and she had spent her whole life pushing it away. Life's full of compromises right? Well if you are from a traditional Indian family and want to live your life the way you want to, it's not just compromises you have to make.

A bit slow in the beginning but developed as we go further into the story,  the ending was a bit abrupt but enjoyed the book. A quick read.
