Two worlds. One moon.
Different shadows, the same light.
Through tangled branches, the moonlight came,
above the city, it shone just the same.
Trees may hide it, towers may rise,
but the moon belongs to all our skies.
Different worlds beneath its light—
one wrapped in trees, one dressed in white.
Perhaps that is the quiet wonder of night:
however different our worlds may be,
we all look up at the same light.
The city reached for the moon to-night,
while every window carried its own little light.
The moon came looking for the night,
and found a thousand leaves to hold its light.
Somewhere between shadow and light,
the world pauses for a moment at night.
