Kollu kuzhambu /Horse gram recipe
Ingredients
Dry roast & Grind:
Toor Dal 2 Tbsp
Pepper 1 Tsp
Garlic 10
Shallots (10) / Big Onion (1)
Coconut 2 Tbsp
Temper:
Sesame Oil 2 Tbsp
Mustard 1 Tsp
Fenugreek 1/4 Tsp
Garlic cloves 10
Shallots (10) / Big Onion (1)
Other Ingredients:
Horse gram 200gm
Chilli Powder 1 Tbsp
Coriander Powder 1 Tbsp
Turmeric Powder 1/4 Tsp
Tamarind (Lemon size)
Salt to taste
Method
1. Soak Horse gram 10 hours, pressure cook 10 mins. Rest 5 mins.
2. Allow to cool, grind coarsely and keep aside.
3. Heat a pan, add toor dal, pepper, garlic, onion, coconut until turns aromatic.
4. Allow to cool, grind to fine paste and keep aside.
5. In Kadai, add sesame oil, mustard, fenugreek let it splutter, add garlic, shallot, curry leaves, ground masala and horse gram. Saute for a minute.
6. Add tamarind extract and adjust consistency.
7. Cover and cook 10 mins on low flame.
8. Serve with hot idly / dosa / steamed rice.
9. Enjoy Bhat sir's Kollu kuzhambu.
