What You are looking for is in the library - Michiko Aovama

Yet, another Japanese book, with cat on it's cover? In Japanese folklore, cats are the symbols of good luck and are said to have protective powers. Let's take the story of maneki-neko for example. Centuries ago a feudal lord, standing under a tree, saw a cat waving at him. Curious, he moved towards the cat and just then lightning struck the tree. Thus was born the story of maneki-neko .

Cats and Window makes us stand eye to eye with what lies inside us. It also helps us evaluate how meaningfully we are engaging with the world around us. 'One can almost hear Tiger, the feline protagonist from another Japanese best seller Cat Who Saved Books remind us, “Books have tremendous power.”

Another list of 65 books to read before I begin reading the book in hand : https://japanobjects.com/features/japanese-books; in addition to 'Details of the books mentioned in the book', listed below:

What you are looking for is in the library by Michiko Aoyama, translated by Alison Watts, read inspired by Bindu Manoj's post in FB. This book is about the magic of libraries and the discovery of connection.

This inspirational tale shows how, by listening to our hearts, seizing opportunity and reaching out, we too can fulfil our lifelong dreams.

Sayuri Komachi Tokyo’s most enigmatic librarian is able to sense exactly what each visitor to her library is searching for, and provide just the book recommendation to help them find it as she kept felting and giving the right gifts with the book. According to her 'You may say that it was the book, but it's how you read a book that is most valuable, rather than nay power it might have itself. ' Nozomi Morinaga is following her and making cards for each of the visitors. This book has five examples:

A restless retail assistant looks to gain new skills - Tomoka, 21, Womenswear sales assistant

Felt like an extension of the previous book and was a bit confused with the similarity of Tomoka's life and name - both moving to Tokyo for a job in early 20s and their struggle.

“In a world where you don’t know what will happen next, I just do what I can right now.”

“The day that customer first appeared,I was so itching to take my break I didn’t give her my complete attention and I’m sure she sensed it.”

Mrs. Numauchi and  Magneta comes to her rescue. Kiriyama  who earlier worked in publishing company and now moved to glasses helped her.

"What I do know is that there's no need to panic, or do more than I can cope with right now. For the time being, I plan to simply get my life in order and learn some new skills, choosing from what's available. I'll prepare myself, like Guri and Gura gathering chestnuts in the forest. Because I never know when I might find my own giant egg."

Book: 'Guri and Gura'  by Rieko Nakagawa- Each of the people who had read it, had a different take on the book and different learning. Again an extension from the previous book.

A conscientious accountant yearns to open an antique store - Ryo, 35, Accounts Department of a Furniture Manufacturer

One day when I have enough money saved up, I will quit my job, find somewhere to open a shop and curate the shelves....One day...But will one day ever come....?

But if you need to know what lies beyond the dream, you need to know.

A parallel career means having two careers that are complementary, with neither being secondary to the other. (Being active in more than one field)

Most of the time we humans only look at the flowers or fruit of a plant, because we live above ground. We switch our attention to below ground only when the roots have a particular interest for us, as in the case of sweet potatoes or carrots. Yet from a plant's perspective, above ground and below ground are equally important and in perfect balance. Humans only see what suits them most, and make that their main focus, but for plants...Both are main.

Yasuhara a writer : ' Before I  had this place, all I ever used to think about was quitting my office job, but now that job is what gives me the means to enjoy running this bookshop. If the bookshop was all I did, however, then I'd have to spend a lot more time thinking about sales strategies and so on. Which would be far more demanding. And I don't really want that.'

Job secures you a place in society. With parallel career, you can have two places, with neither a side business. ..Above ground and below ground - Plant world.

One would give mental and emotional satisfaction, other would give money. Yes, that might reduce the time for other activities like travelling etc.

Turn don't have time, money or courage into a goal.

'Everybody is connected. And any one of their connections could be the start of a network that branches in many directions. If you wait for the right time to make connections, it might never happen, but if you show your face around, talk to people and see enough to give you the confidence that things could work out, then 'one day' might turn into 'tomorrow'. 'Timing is all important. Don't let the right moment slip by.'

Both are equally important. That could be true for a couple too.

What makes the world go round?  - Rio: Love; Hina: Trust.

There are so many things to do, but I won't make the excuse that I have no time any more. Instead, I will think about what I can do with the time I have.

Gift: A cat with a brown body.

Book: 'How do worms work? A Gardener's colleciton of Curious Questions and Astonishing Answers' by Guy Barter.

A mother tries to overcome demotion at work after maternity leave, - Natsumi, 40, former magazine Editor

'We all come to understand at some point in our lives that there is no Santa Claus. But the reason Santa Claus remains an integral part of Christmas celebrations is not for the sake of small children. It is because grown-ups who were once children themselves continue to hold the truth of Santa Claus in their hearts even after they become adults, and they live that belief.

Futaba her daughter. Raising a child is like "the difference between thinking that Winnie-the-Pooh is cute, and actually living with a bear."

Children don't just come into the world, do they?' she said. 'Giving birth was a huge event in your life, wasn't it?

It gave great respect to all mothers in the world........While it was hard work for mother to give birth, it also took me every ounce of my own strength to endure the extremely difficult process of being born. ....thrust into an entirely new and strange environment.

Count your blessings and think - Wasn't that worth all the effort of being born? Everything else that comes afterwards is nowhere near as hard. If you can survive the ordel of being born, you can get through anything.

Book: 'Moon Petals' or 'Door to the Moon' by Yukari Ishii . 'In the world of astrology the moon signifies mothers, wives, incidents from childhood, emotions, the flesh, changes and so on. '
'The Heart has two eyes toe perceive that which is not visible to the eye. One is the 'Sun Eye', which sheds a bright light on our understanding of things from a rational and logical perspective. The other is the 'Moon Eye', which perceives things through instinct or emotion, in our imagination or dreams, such as seeing ghosts in the dark or entertaining a secret love. Both eyes exist in our hearts.

'When one reads or writes a novel, it is the Moon Eye that is in play. But when one works on a manuscript to help get it into shape before sending it into the world, the Sun Eye comes to the fore. Both eyes are essential. From now on, I will try to keep both of mine wide open, letting them work together, neither at the expense of the other.

From big things to little, there are somethings we simply cannot force to go to plan, no matter how hard we try.

Like Komachi's felting, she one can start again half way through, changing direction.

Perpetrator and Victim. Make own choices. Cant we have both? Is it too much to want to have a child and a satisfying career? Am I not allowed to voice my dissatisfaction?

Madam Mizue, who published her book with the help of Natsumi tells her: 'The merry-go-round, it's a very common condition', 'Singles are envious of those who are married, and married couples envy those with children, but people with children are envious of singles. It's an endless merry-go-round. But isn't that funny? That each person should be chasing the tail of the person in front of them, when no one is coming first or last. In other words, when it comes to happiness nothing is better or worse - there is no definitive state.

Life is one revelation after another. Things don't always go to plan, no matter what your circumstances. But the flip side is all the unexpected, wonderful things that you could never have imagined happening. Ultimately it's all for the best that many things don't turn out the way we hoped. Try not to think of upset plans or schedules as personal failure or bad luck. If you can do that, then you can change, in your own self and in your life overall.

'The playground is big. Madam Mizue's words still rang in my head. Had she been suggesting I get off the merry-go-round and try out something else in the playground? Never swerving from a path is not necessarily a virtue -isn't it better sometimes to be honest about what you really want.'

'Things change, even if you want them to stay the same. At the same time, you can try to change, but you will still remain the same. '

Kiriyama - from the first part who earlier worked in publishing company and now moved to glasses helped her but said. " There is no 'why', its just the way things turned out. Isn't it a good thing to want more great books in the world? I want to read them too.'

The Santa claus that parents teach is not a lie, but part of a larger truth. Likewise do the eyes of the sun and moon on our hearts cooperate, without denying each other's existence, in formulating our perceptions of the world.

She sends out an email 'I would like to open a new door with you'.

The Earth goes around. We gaze at the moon, illuminated by the sun. Feet on the ground and facing the sky, we go forward, changing as we do. In order to deliver a larger truth to the person looking down at an open page.

Hiroya, 30, NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training)

Goes in search of 21 Emon, text and illustrations by Fujiko.

His gift was not a manga as we wished, but a plane with a tiny grey body, white wings and a cool green tail.

Book : 'Evolution: A visual Record by Robert Clark and Joseph Wallace - a book of photographs of the natural world.

Favourable variations would tend to be preserved and unfavourable ones to be destroyed.

Komachi also adds "When reading biographies and history... You have to remember that it is merely one version of events and only the parties involved can ever know the real truth. There are always numeroud interpretations and hearsay, about who said or did what. Misunderstandings occur even in real time; you can see that on the internet. So when it comes to events deep in the past, it's very difficult to be sure of what is accurate."

Seitaro, friend of Hiroya who finally publish his book says: "My job with the waterworks Bureau is the reason I could keep writing. I'm not quitting. "

A recently retired salaryman searches for newfound purpose - Masao, 65, Retired.

In Komachi’s unique book recommendation, they will find just what they need to achieve their dreams.

Book: Genge and Frogs by Shinpei Kusano - 20th century Japanese poetry collection. Wanting to get a book on 'Go' a game.

What am I looking for? What am I looking for?

A new way to live from now on, perhaps.

'When you are in contact with the poets soul and their attitude to life, your response to their poetry becomes even more powerful. You can, in a sense , even enter into the life of the poet and feel moved in the same way. '             - You start writing poetry.

'Books belong to everybody: the creators, the sellers and the readers. That's what society is all about, I believe.' - Says his daughter Chie working for a publishing company.

Library.

What a nice sounding word.

So comforting.

I feel like I'm a student again.

Library...

"Am I allowed to borrow books?"

Relationship

Relationship a very wide concept. It begins with inner self, body, parents, siblings, spouse, children, friends, relatives, team and the list can go on and on.

What make relationship last, have you ever wondered?

There could be different views, but I would like to put forth 6 pillars for any strong relationship - Let me know your thoughts/views. They are:

1. Compassion and Love - Acceptance

2. Truth - Authencity

3. Kindness

4. Attitude of gratitude

5. Mindfulness

6. Respect - Last but not the least. This is the foundation:

It does not come in isolation, it comes out of admiration for some specific traits/values. Become someone worthy of respect. Be inspiring.

Vibes you put in boomerang. Become irrestiable ...Touch the lives of people around you too.

The relationship we can choose is that of partner/spouse and friends. Lot of time people choose their partner/friend/spouse based on the phase they are going through.  Which would create problems.  They should be chosen based on values and not phase.

Days at the Morisaki Bookshop ~ Sathoshi Yagisawa

Thanks to Bindu Manoj's post in FB, could not resist buying Days at the Morisaki Bookshop by Sathoshi Yagisawa. Satoshi Yagisawa won the Chiyoda Literature prize, one of the most prestigious literary awards, named after the the district, that is home to Tokyo's beloved Jimbocho neighborhood of bookshops for 'Days at the Morisaki Bookshop' debut novel of his. "A tale of families, love, new beginnings, and the comfort that can be found in books."; in two parts is what this optimistic and charming novel all about. Yagisawa's debut novel evokes nostalgia by placing the fictional Morisaki Bookshop in Tokyo's real-life book town “Jimbocho”. It is named after the samurai Jimbo Nagaharu who resided there in the 17th century. In the wake of the Meiji restoration of 1868, many universities opened in the vicinity of Jimbocho. This led to the proliferation of shops selling academic texts. Later with the mass production of “one yen books” that aimed at making books available to the Japanese public, several second-hand bookstores mushroomed in the area.

As the inside front cover say, Hidden in Jimbocho, Tokyo, is a book-lover's paradise with coffee shops. On a quiet corner in an old wooden building lies a shop filled with hundreds of second-hand books. Twenty five year old Takako has never liked reading, althought the Morisaki bookshop has been in her family for three generations. It is the pride and joy of her uncle Satoru, who has devoted his life to the bookshop since his wife Momoko left him five years earlier.

Takako had moved to Tokyo after graduating from a local college in the south, she hardly knew anyone other than some of the people she worked with, there was no one close enough in the city that she could talk to. has been going out with her colleague and boyfriend, Hideaki for more than a year. One day, he blurts out, “I’m getting married.” Not “let’s get married,” or “I want to get married.” To add to her misery, it is another colleague of theirs he is planning to get married to. He had been two-timing her all along. Unable to face anyone, she quits her job and shuts herself out to the world, literally. She spends the next month, sleeping in her rented room, untill her Uncle invites her to come and live with him in Jimbocho, upstairs in the spare room at Morisaki bookshop, where she move eventually to continue sleeping. She hadn’t met her uncle in ten years, she knew her mother would have asked him to check on her. She had two options, either to go back to her mother or her uncle. She choose the latter fearing that she would have to settle for an arranged marriage if she went back to her mother.

The musty smell of old books hit her as she walks into the shop with Satoru. The rooms are filled with old books from roof to floor. She settles in slowly, and her uncle puts her in charge of the shop in the mornings. One night out to a coffee shop, her sleep is disrupted and she gets hold of 'Until the Death of the Girl, the book by Saisei Muro that sparks Takako's passion for reading. She befriends, the coffee shop girl Tomo, for whom the book Schoolgirl by Osamu Dazai had played the magic. Then on there was no looking back.

“And for all I read, I found book after book that I still wanted to read.”

Hoping to nurse her broken heart in peace, Takako is surprised to encounter new worlds within the stacks of books lining the Morisaki bookshop.  As summer fades to autumn, Satoru and Takako discover they have more in common than they first thought.

Satoru, had unexpectedly taken over the store from his father, when one day, in the midst of his drifting and travels, his father dropped dead. It was'nt something what he had dreamt of doing when young, now he go back and forth all the time on his decision, trying to figure out what he was trying to search for. He says:

"It's important to stand still sometimes. Think of it as a little rest in the long journey of your life. This is your harbor. And your boat is just dropping anchor here for a little while. And after you're well rested, you can set sail again."

having said that he complained when Takako was sleeping all the while. To that

"He laughed. "Human beings are full of contradictions"."

To the question from Takako, If travelling around and reading has helped him learn a lot, he says:

"It's funny, No matter where you go, or how many books you read, you still know nothing, you haven't seen anything. And that's life. We live our lives trying to find our way. It's like that Santoka Taneda poem, the one that goes, 'On and on, in and in, and still the blue-green mountains."

For uncle his niece was 'epiphany', that she did not know. The moment of great realisation or revelation, to get moving, look around, learn. Leading him to visit places and read books.

“I flew all over the world only to end up back at the place I’d known every bit of since I was a child. Hilarious, isn’t it? After all that time, I came back here. That’s when I realized it wasn’t just a question of where I was. It was about something inside me. No matter where I went, no matter who I was with, if I could be honest with myself, then that was where I belonged. By the time I realized that, half my life was over. So I went back to my favorite harbor, and decided to drop anchor. For me, this is a sacred place. It's where I feel most at ease.”

Like Sabu said, he was the shops Savior. He did that because it had his memories.

Niece started seeing uncles worries and pains.

'My boat travels lightly, drifting aimlessly at the mercy of the current.' ~ Naoe Kinoshita in Confessions of a Husband.

When niece decided to move out, the parting advice was:

"Don't be afraid to love someone. When you fall in love, I want you to fall in love all the way. Even if it ends in heartache, please don't live a lonely life without love. .....Love is wonderful....Those memories of people you love, they never disappear. They go on warming you heart as long as you live. "

Bowing deeply - the culture that Japan still hold on to, is mentioned through out.

Takako moved out of Morisaki Bookshop after recharging her batteries. She was like a butterfly waiting patiently to come out of its chrysalis.

Part 2 is about aunt Momoko's return.

The second part of the book deals with Momoko’s reappearance after five years. This subplot details the tenderness and fragility of human relationships. Takako’s maturity and sensitivity help the couple reunite. The novel manoeuvres through the unhappiness of life and the reader connects with universal human experiences in this immensely readable book.

Takako meets Akira Wada. Who tells her "I don't think it really matters whether you know a lot about books or not. ......What matters far more with a book is how it affects you. "

Indeed, 'The Morisaki bookshop has something to teach',  all of us, 'about life, love, and the healing power of books.' Days at the Morisaki Bookshop is a bibliophile’s delight and reaffirms the reader’s faith in the life-changing power of books.

Deathiquette

Deathiquette – its not about u the condolence giver. Its about the bereaved who have lost a big chunk of their heart.

Offer help if you can – silenly and discreetly.

And say some kind words about the departed if you knew them well enough. Or be quiet and let the bereaved mourn in peace

But for gods sake at my most intense time of grief do not be so self absorbed and insensitive enough to only talk about ur past losses … its painful.

Death is not a social outing… its a heart wrenching , soul devastating irreparable loss.

Grief is real – only the real will understand.

If the bereaved do not respond to ur calls/ messages be gracious. Not righteous. If they dont respond, be empathetic. This is not about you… its about them.

Do not ever ever advise them to move on This is the most insensitive of it all.

A Widow Rebirth from her Ashes: Mridu

https://www.amazon.in/dp/B0CFY1TTGK?th=1&psc=1&geniuslink=true

Lessons for life you can learn from this inspiring true tale of dear Mridu, word flow like a poetry, keeping us ponder and inspiring us as we read on, with a pinch of pain in our hearts.

  1. We had dream of settling outside the city on the outskirts and living simple life after our 50s who knew that it was a futile plan. We should have only lived our present.  - We only have now, this moment is ours, make the best of it?
  2. "Don't think y are alone. We are all with you. " But the harsh reality is "You would know who is with you when you are at the lowest point in your life."
  3. Challenge you to ask your loved ones, those who claim they can't live without you, this question: "Would you still love and care for me the same if I ceased to be of use to you today?"
  4. Prepare yourself to uncover the truth beyond spoken words. The reality may be harsh, but if someone genuinely values your presence without requiring you to prove your worth every single day, my friend, you have triumphed in the intricate game called Life.
  5. Highlighting the divide between the 'responsible' and the 'unconventional'.
  6. Rituals are created with a purpose and not to belittle or hurt anyone.
  7. In stages of being a widow/griefing it was thought provoking to read:
    1. When as a teenager we were imagining our marriage to the prince charming we never thought that the man of your life would leave us all alone to face the cruel enemy of his kingdom. As the queen we had to rule and protect his lands and people.
    2. Spectrum of emotions that we go through during this stage are: Disbelief and deniel, bargaining, anger, depression and acceptance.
    3. Reality check, Doctor recommended reading a series of five books by Brian Weiss including 'Many Lives, Many Masters', 'Only Love is Real', 'Messages from the Masters', 'Same soul, many bodies' and 'Through time into healing'.
    4. Financial Challenges: Impulsive investments fueled by fear, lack of insurance, absence of coverage for home loan, leading to losses in misguided investments.
    5. Battle with envy: Psychiatrist said feeling jealousy and sadness when witnessing couples together is a natural response. Emotions can be overpowering leading to self doubt. These are part of grieving process and not indicative of becoming a psychopath.
    6. Life took a desolate hue, the very essence of celebration, enjoyment and happiness seemed to evaporate. Gradually learned to honor the memories embracing the present.
    7. Navigating the labyrinth of bureaucratic procedures took a toll on emotions
  8. Retreat: Traversing through the realms of grief. Self-discovery, self-care, pondering about afterlife/soul/mortality. connecting with school, old colleagues, past life.
  9. Unearthing identity: Young girl chasng delicate butterfly, undeterred, untainted by fear. Now needing solace. In angel. "My time too shall come." Until then, I must live. Journey towards shillong stopping at Bounihat. Manas national park on the cusp of Assam and Bhutan. Embark on you journey of self-discovery, peel back the layers of illusion and uncover the radiant truth that resides within your heart.
  10. Be the Phoenix who rise from the ashes, the butterfly who emerges from the cocoon, recognise self.
  11. Writing is more than mere words on paper, its emobieng liberation. It grants the mind a canvas to unleash its musings, allowing it to tame the chaos that often resides within.
  12. Moral of trips: React on your impulse , trust your instinct and make all the other back up plans.
  13. Spiritual voyage trip to Kedarnath - earlier desire for privacy, perspective shifted after grief. Empathy became compass, driving to connect with the pain of others. Supoort noble causes
  14. Scraped the bottom of her reslience, to rise like phoenix from the ashes, a blazing emblem of rebirth.
  15. I am in love with the woman I am becoming. I have been seeing the inner person grow into a beautiful soul. This lady seems to know her purpose in life. She thinks differently, she speaks differently, she feels differently. She doesn't judge anyone. She let them be. She knows they have their own story. She doesn't question them because she knows they have their own story plot and we don't share the same journey. Even though we might have been born off the same parents may be twins we differ in thoughts even if we look alike. She knows today her thoughts are magical. She loves the universe and receives its gratitude with open hands. She wakes up each morning with a new hope.Routine doesn't upset her anymore. She no longer longs to prove things to others. She had in her past proved quite a bit to the world. She now rests and admires herself; she at times says love quotes to the soul itself. She is magical and she feels it. She is a breeze a ray of sunshine may be someone she dont know but for herself she is the most important person.
  16. When life pushes you to the deepest point in the ocean just be there don't fight the ocean waves you won't win. Instead enjoy the beauty of the deepest darkness. Love the secret of the depth and leave it all. Magically you may survive and come floating on the surface.
  17. Born alone. There is a purpose for each human on this earth. The earth is a learning ground for the souls where the lucky ones get a body to live in. Each one of our lives is time boxed and we need to utilize the limited time we have here with utmost care. If you get entangled in the shallow drama of hatred, jealousy, revenge, show off etc. time may just end and the sould would have to conitnue its journey in another life depending on it karma.
  18. Equip yourself, engage in crafts, business, studies - stay occupied and distance yourself from the persistent negative chatter of the mind.
  19. Progress takes time and avoiding the rat race is a virtue.
  20. Class 3:" What do you want to be when you grow up?" Have you achieved that aspiration? Delve deeper and nurture the essence of your soul. The professional labels we acquire are merely for our physical beings; the true quest lies in understanding and fulfilling the desires of our inner self.

A Guide To Creating A Non-Thinking Environment

Is'nt it interesting?

Book is even more.

"There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so." —

William Shakespeare

All you have to do is remember that thinking is the root cause of how we’re feeling. Once this is brought into your awareness, don’t fight the thinking. Just become aware that it is your thinking that’s causing the ill feelings, welcome it with love, and it will slowly dissipate before your eyes. Not too long after, you’ll return to your natural state of peace, love, and joy.

On a piano, there are 88 keys. When we look at a piano, we don't point out specific keys for no reason and say that that key is "wrong". We only think a specific key is "wrong", if we think someone is playing a specific song and hits a key that isn't in the song. Inherently, the piano has no wrong keys though. There are only keys and notes that sound more or less pleasant when played consecutively.

Just like how there are no wrong keys on the piano, there are no "wrong". There’s only thinking that give us pleasant or not so pleasant feelings. When we put things into a bucket of right or wrong, good or bad, this creates duality and conditions in our lives, which determines how we feel.

For instance, if we believe that that opposing political parties are wrong or bad, this can cause animosity within us and make us feel a concoction of negative emotions.

If, on the other hand, we see different political parties in the same way as there are different keys on the piano and how there are no inherently "wrong" parties, then we open ourselves up to experience love, joy, and peace in the moment.

Instead of looking for right or wrong, good or bad in the world, look for truth. Instead of trying to prove we are right and they are wrong, or how they're better and we're worse, look for the truth in what's in front of you. I would only caution this by saying that many people believe what they think is the truth. For the most part, without this deeper understanding of life, most of what we think is not truth, even though it may seem like it.

True truth is not subjective. If it is "true" for one person, but not for another, then it is not universal truth. Look for what is universally true for every single conscious human being on the planet, no matter who they are, where they're from, and what their background is. That is the true truth and that is where you'll find everything you've been searching for. Remember that the only place you can find this is deep within your being, so don't try to go looking for it outside of you.

The truth is most of us know what to do, but we are just afraid to do it.

Henry Ford once said, “Whether you think that you can or can’t, you’re right.” If we walk around our lives thinking we can’t, then we immediately block ourselves from the limitless possibilities of what we can do in any given moment in time. But when we release the brake in our mind and realize that it’s just our thinking holding us back, we automatically return to our natural state of abundance and unlimited possibilities and in that moment, we can receive any answer we need on what to do.

In short, know that you already know and if you don’t know, know that you can know what you need to know.

If you know that you can always know, then what you need to know will always come to you. Trust in your own intuition and inner wisdom. It has always and will always be there for you when you need it as long as you trust that it will.

This state of non-thinking also means a directconnection to Infinite Intelligence. The state of flow, that we need to be in.

Many will attribute the state of non-thinking or flow with a particular activity that we love to do and that’s the only time we can be in flow. This is far from the truth. We can be in a state of nonthinking at any point in time. The only time we can really be in a state of non-thinking is in the present moment. We can only see reality in the present moment and when we are actively thinking, it means we are either in the past or future (which don’t exist). Only in the present moment can the truth be found. This is why all of the spiritual masters and leaders always teach to meditate, pray, and to be in the present moment. In the Bible, when Moses asks God her name, She replies with “I am.” God didn’t say that She was or will be

When you’re following your intuition, you’re completely tapped into something greater than your personal self. You’re in a state of nonthinking (flow) and direct connection with God. In this state, you always know what you need to do without thinking and are guided by

Infinite Intelligence. It almost seems like we’re not doing anything when we’re in this zone because we lose our sense of personal self and become one with life. When we’re in this state, miracles occur.

SUMMARY OF NON-THINKING

Thinking is the root cause of all suffering.

There is no other answer to why we feel negative emotions other than that it is from our own thinking.

Everything can be traced back to our thinking, which makes problem solving very simple. Once we realize that our thinking is causing how we feel, we can let go of it and we return to our natural state of peace, love, and joy. When we let go of our thinking, it creates space for us to be able to allow all positive emotions we want to feel to surface from within us.

We don’t live in reality, we live in a PERCEPTION of reality, which is created by our own thinking.

Thinking is NOT an effect of our experiences, but the CAUSE of it.

The thoughts in our minds are not facts.

Our thinking only has control over us if we believe it.

Let go of the belief in the thought to let go of the suffering.

Our feelings are direct feedback and an innate internal guidance system to let us know whether we are lacking understanding or have absolute clarity of truth. Feelings are an invitation to deepen our understanding of the truth.

We are in flow when we are not thinking.

There is no separation between us and the Universe and all of life when we are not thinking. It is only when we think that we cut ourselves from Source and feel separate from all things (the birth of the ego).

Thinking and thoughts are two different things. Thinking is a verb and requires our manual effort, which causes suffering. Thoughts are nouns, which do not come from us and are divine downloads from the Universe.

We think because it is a biological response to survive.

Our minds think only because it is trying to keep us alive, but it does not help us thrive. It is only concerned with our safety and survival, but not our fulfillment. Thinking holds us back from our Highest Selves by causing negative feelings within us that prevent us from following our true callings.

Our minds are limited to our personal experiences. If you want to receive insights, creativity, and knowledge beyond the capabilities of your current self, simply choose to listen to Infinite Intelligence rather than your finite mind. This infinite source of truth is available to all people at all times if we allow it to be.

Universal Intelligence/Mind is the energy that is everything in this universe. It is the source of where everything comes from that is before form and we are made up of it. This energy has a feeling, which is the feeling is love, peace, joy, connection, and well-being. This is what we fall back into when we let go of our thinking and it is our natural state.

Since we are all always connected to the same source of Infinite Intelligence, once we let go of our thinking, we access new thoughts, ideas, and insights, even if we have never experienced them before. The more we trust our intuition and this Infinite Intelligence, the more we will receive these insights that are always available to us.

Peace, love, joy, and all positive emotions are our default states as humans. It is only when we begin thinking, then we get taken out of that natural state. Once we let go of our thinking, we fall back into our natural state of being and experience all positive feelings effortlessly.

We are ever only one thought or one insight away from expanding our consciousness and experiencing a deeper feeling of love at all times, which comes from a state of non-thinking.

Clarity is the nature of our minds and our default state. It is only when we get caught up in our thinking that things do not seem so. If we let go of our thinking, we return to our “factory default” setting of peace, love, joy, and a quiet mind.

There is nothing inherently wrong with anyone or anything in the Universe, but our thinking will make us think so. You do not have to be fixed because you are not broken. There is only something for you to realize and remember, which is that thinking is the root cause of our suffering. You do not have to do anything about your thinking. All you have to do is shift your understanding of thinking and you will fall back into the truth of who you are, which is beyond your thinking, your body, and everything you think you know. As soon as you let go of your thinking, you become one with Infinite Intelligence, allowing you to feel a never-ending abundance of love, peace, and joy that is always available to you because that is your true nature.

When you make space for Infinite Intelligence, it makes space for you. The more you trust it, the more it trusts you.

There’s never an end to how much space you can make for it. When you prioritize making space in your life and in your mind for Infinite intelligence to come through, your life will change.

Here’s the process for receiving divine downloads when you’re confronted with a challenge:

1. Become aware that your thinking is the root cause of all negative emotions.

2. Create space by surrendering any manual thinking from the personal mind and have complete faith that your inner wisdom (God/Universe/Infinite Intelligence) will give you the answer. Also surrender the how and when the answer will come to you.

3. Become aware of any feelings that arise as you surrender and magnify those feelings of love, peace, and joy. Meet what you’re facing with love and the answer will come to you.

If it seems almost too simple, that’s a good thing. The truth is always simple. Although it may be simple, it’s not always easy and even the greatest spiritual masters struggle at times.

Ruskin Bond Summit

3rd Sept 2023, Sweta Samota took us through this amazing session.

Introduction

Ruskin Bond was born on 19th May 1934 , in Kasauli, Punjab States Agency, British India. His father, Aubrey Alexander Bond, was born in a military camp in Shahjahanpur, a small town in north India. Later he became a tutor in a small school in the Jamnagar palace for their princes and princesses, where Ruskin also studied for his first six years. He taught English to the princesses of Jamnagar palace and Ruskin Bond and his sister Ellen lived there till he was six. Later, Ruskin's father joined the Royal Air Force in 1939 and Ruskin along with his mother and sister went to live at his maternal home at Dehradun. Shortly after that, he was sent to a boarding school in Mussoorie. When Ruskin was eight years old, his mother Edith Clerke separated from his father and married a Punjabi Hindu, Hari. His father arranged for Ruskin to be brought to New Delhi where he was posted. He was very close to his father and describes this period (1942-1944) with his father as one of the happiest times of his life. When he was ten, his father died due to malaria, while he was posted in Calcutta. He was buried in the Bhowanipore War Cemetery in Calcutta. Ruskin was at his boarding school in Shimla and was informed about this tragedy by his teacher. He was thoroughly heartbroken. Later, he was raised in Dehradun.
