English Novels & Movies Adaptations

There have been three adaptations of Rebecca in Malayalam films. Only the first one followed the plot somewhat faithfully.

Hindi adaption is Kohraa.

ഉറങ്ങാത്ത സുന്ദരി was the closest adaptation

Utaram was adapted from No Motive.

The key concept of the movie Grandmaster was taken from The ABC Murders by Agatha Christie

And I don't think this needs any elaboration. The beauty of Jithu's adaptation is that even after watching it, you can still enjoy the book!

But Jithu has just taken only the core theme of misdirection. The story is entirely different.
First Malayalam 70 mm movie Padayottam (1982) was an adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo.

Gumnaam Hindi film was based on Christie's 'And Then There Were None'

Bees Sal Badh from a truly different adaptation of 'The Hound of the Baskervilles'.

Malayalam Movie New Delhi based on "The Almighty" by Irving Wallace; Rajavinte Makan, "A Rage of Angels" by Sidney Sheldon; August 1, "The Day of the Jackal" by Frederick Forsyth; Thalavattam, a horrid hotch potch of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"

Hindi Karz and , later, Om Shanti Om were loosely based on 'The Reincarnation of Peter Proud'.

⁩ Naduvazhikal was based loosely on "The Godfather'

Tennessee Williams' play The Glass Menagerie was adapted into a movie by Shyamaprasad. Prithviraj and Sheela acted in it. Also Aakasha Gopuram adapted from Ibsen's The Master Builder.

How to spoil "Othello" beyond redemption is Kaliyattam.

Balu Mahendra's 'Yatra' with Mammootty and Shobhana had bits stolen from 'First Blood' and a climax that borrowed from the hit song 'Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree'. Only difference was they used lamps instead of yellow ribbons.

'Throne of Blood' Kurasowa movie is considered the best adaptation of "Macbeth"

Jeevan Mrityu starring Dharmendra was inspired from Count of Monte Cristo.

A Study in Scarlet -  രക്തം കുടിച്ച മോതിരം

Towards Zero - ജ്വലിക്കുന്ന പ്രതികാരം

The Murderer at the Vicarage - രക്തക്കുമിള

1912 novel Daddy-Long-Legs by Jean Webster, ~ Kanamarayathu. This was adapted as a Mills & Boon romance too - "Beloved Benefactor"

 The Murder of Roger Ackroyd - 1. ഡോക്ടർ അവനീന്ദ്രൻ 2. കഠാര പിടിച്ച കൈ 3. അപസർപ്പക വീരൻ

The Hound of the Baskervilles - ഹനുമാൻ കുട്ടി 🤣🤣🤣

Cross cultural adaptation of books stories.

And Amitabh Bachan Tweets

Almost entirely true ji. Then again it could be the technicians without whom the portrayal shine differently...or moreso it could be the Hero who carries the script on his shoulders...to develope the film to fruition... You!! Its all relevant and relative ...I feel. Nobody would know better, than you. Respect for your thought.Art, spells the grammar of eclectic  conveyances...the Bible of Nature's resonance.  The Human mind , age essence of it All. Eternally grateful Amit...respect and regards 🙏🙏🙏

Even FaFa told in the interview yesterday.

Anymore that you can think of? What say?
