Children begin by obeying their parents,
After a time they judge them,
Rarely if ever do they forgive them……
As children we are always with parents, listen to them, but when we start growing….well the above words says it all….would pray to GOD, that it should not happen to me, at least the third line. And because now I still love them, I thought of putting down all my feelings, so that it would be a reminder for me in the future too…..
Also right from the age of 10 or so, every year used to give some small token as gift for their anniversary which is on the 24th of January. This year could not do so, and therefore thought let this be our gift to them.
They were there every time we cried growing; they jumped with joy, when we first stood up. They send us to the best of schools, cooked our favorite food, brought things for us, instead of themselves during the difficult days. Took us to doctor when we were sick, gave their savings to meet our needs. Gave up their friends and relations, for us and our grand parents, i.e. for their parents….We love and care for you, for all that you’ve done for us thro these years. Hope that we could do the things, the way you do. Thank you God, for given us them. Which indeed is our greatest gift… ‘FATHER AND MOTHER I LOVE YOU’. That’s family….
It touches my heart to see people who are deprived of their love, either because God has taken back one of them, or though they are alive, both are not together, either because of ill health, or because of the craze for money, or to earn a lively hood, or because of some misunderstanding….
Two souls with different desires, ambitions, aims, coming together…its indeed an uphill task, for ‘Men are from mars and Women are from Venus.’
To begin with my Achan, he is a very short-tempered, sincere, hardworking and honest person, who cannot simply sit doing nothing, either he has to work, talk or watch TV, if he is not sleeping. He doesn’t think when to speak what and to whom, he would tell anything to anyone, and do not keep any grudge against anyone. He doesn’t care if the other person is interested in listening to his talks. A true man, who had enjoyed all the whims and fancies of life, with lots and lots of courage, to face things as they come, and have seen no person like him, who does not work for money, nor do have a need to save it. His favorite quotes are: time and tide waits for no man, and All for himself and God for all.
To speak about my amma, she was another mom for so many people…. A very simple and down to earth person. She has an especial ability to know the needs of the needy and do things for them. Many people can do things, but very few really has a heart to do it, and she is one of them. She takes up responsibility, understanding it, and not because anyone tells her to do. She loves teaching, and belives that education is a very important thing, and wants every people around to be educated. I remember how she used to teach people people around at kalyan east..Lyla and all to write their names…If not for her, we would not have been what we are today. Even now she is very much interested in learning new things like computer, emailing, sms etc.
Well that is something that keeps a balance here. While she is interested in this, father is interested in driving. Mother is more interested in indoor activity, while father is interested in outdoor works. But both of them believe that, their role in the society is to set right the things at home, and in their immediate family, and if each one in the world would feel so, the world would be a better place to live in.
They keep on doing things, without expecting anything in return. …well for children and parents everyone do, but they do it for those who they think help is needed.
Sincerely owing reasons and responsibilities to you….’ Sorry, for having ever hurt both of you.
Indeed my parents are here because of their parents, i.e. my grandparents…who are the sine co non for us. After my 12th and my sisters 10th, though we had good prospects, in Mumbai, they shifted to kerala, because for them it was their Mother and Motherland, that was dear…My fathers mother was not keeping well then, and we moved to kerala. With their blessings could have a home here at Potta, and my Achamma died here, on May 27th 1997, the English date was exactly the same, by Achachan too had died on May 27th but 1982. My muttachan passed away in March 2001, and since then again humarey pass ‘ma’ hey…Now I can understand the significance of the dialogue in Deewar.Thank you Dad….
Ammuma keeps giving good advises, which many may not like, she is infact a nimisha kavy.....if she had good formal education, she would have been a great writer for sure...though having studied only upto 4th, she is so well versed with the epics, even a bit of English, hindi and tamil....she keeps telling, dont be like Kudhikunikey pakshey, whose action indicates it asking 'Ennolam ponnu undoo Kolagathu....' Two things I have learned from this:
1.What we know is like drops in the ocean, what we have to learn is vast like the sea before...
2.So we should never be proud, or show off, what we have, and infact, Kadikudikugay anangilum mudey kudikanam....
She is the most modern person with her outlooks, who has a good emotional control, inspite of her forgetfulness and ill health......Kudose to you....I guess the presence of an elderly person at home makes a good positive difference, which the present generation fail to understand, and it is becoming a universal fact that people today conside old people at home to be an hinderance....Again remember but not correctly an couplet from Gyanapana: Satthukal shiksheche cholumbool, shatruvey poley krindhikunu chillar....
Speech or talk can make or break the barriers. And that is why my father to break the barrier speaks to all. But there are some, who do not want to break it, and when there are opportunity to break the barrier, tries to prevent it. For that we have airtel…right…..But then tongue weighs next to nothing, and it is difficult to control it right......
