Ikigai for Teens

Many of us would have heard and read the book 'Ikigai', but did you know there is a separate book for teens as well?

And it's like a prequel to the more well known book and the Japanese Secret for a long and happy life.

The people of Japan believe that everyone has an Ikigai - a reason to jump out of bed everymorning - Is Ikigai.

Iki = Life and Gai = Worth.

Co-written by Héctor García and Francesc Miralles based on their interviewing more than a 100 villagers from Okinawa where the inhabitants live longer than in any other place in the world.

Our Ikigai is hidden deep inside each of us. Based on a diagram by Mark Venn this is at the intersection of four elements:
1) What your are good at
2) What you can be paid for
3) What the world needs
4) What you love

1 and 4 is passion; 1 and 2 is your profession; 2 and 3 is your vocation; and 3 and 4 is your Mission.

When you make your passion your profession, vocation and mission in life you find Ikigai.

Falimy

A family of self-centered individuals sets out on a journey to fulfill their grandfather's pilgrimage wish to Kashi/Varanasi/Benaras, partly to prevent his frequent escapes and partly to find a distraction from their personal problems.

Anoop is a dubbing artist who lives in Trivandrum with his father Chandran, mother Rema, younger brother Abhijith and grandfather Janardhanan. Chandran, who is an unemployed person, earlier owned a printing press and Rema works in a digital press. Abhijith intends to migrate to the United Kingdom for his higher studies, while Janardhanan wishes to visit Varanasi and is caught by his family members whenever he attempts to go alone.

Anoop's family arranges a marriage proposal for him with Anagha, a teacher. On their engagement day, the marriage proposal is called off when Robin, a guy who used to stalk Anagha, disrupts the ceremony. Abhijith beats Robin and Chandran makes a complaint at the police station. After the incident, Anoop takes a two-week leave and decides to take Janardhanan to Varanasi. As Robin's friends are after him, Abhijith decides to accompany Anoop. Chandran, who is having issues with Anoop and initially showed no interest, later decides to join the journey.

On the way to Varanasi, Chandran is tricked by a tea-selling boy at a railway station and Rema, Anoop and Abhijith get off the train. The station master helps them get off Janardhanan and the luggage at Tikaria Railway Station. The next day, they reach the railway station in Tikaria and take Janardhanan with them. They catch a bus heading for Varanasi and get off in a remote place when Rema begins vomiting.

Pappu Panday, an animal trafficker, offers them a ride and on the way at a checkpoint, a police officer asks him for the vehicle's documents. Pappu Panday escapes by breaking the checkpoint and leaves Chandran and his family in a desolate place. They manage to reach Varanasi at night and take a room in a lodge.

The next morning, they learn from the receptionist that Janardhanan left with a group of monks at midnight. While searching for Janardhanan, Chandran, Rema, Anoop and Abhijith are taken to the police station by the police officer who was at the checkpoint. Rema shows their family photo when SI Sakshi Yadav asks them for ID proof.

A public announcement is made by Anoop about Janardhanan's missing case in Malayalam. Pramod, a Malayali settled in Varanasi who is familiar with Anoop's voice, meets them and assures to help find Janardhanan. Anoop learns from two people that Janardhanan is dead and that his body was cremated on the banks of the Ganges. Chandran performs Janardhanan's death rituals and Chacko, a friend of Chandran, calls Anoop to inform that Janardhanan is back home.

When Chandran and his family return home, they learn from their neighbour that Janardhanan has departed for the railway station with his friend's cremains. They meet Janardhanan on the train and joins him on the journey to Varanasi. The ticket checker kicks Chandran, Rema, Anoop and Abhijith off the train as they are travelling without tickets and Janardhanan continues his journey alone.

Basil Joseph as Anoop ; Jagadish as Chandran ; Manju Pillai as Rema ; Abhiram Radhakrishnan as Pramod ; Boloram Das as Pappu Panday did keep us hooked with comedy, suspense, plot , twists and message.

The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success ~ Deepak Chopra

The Book covers The Law of
  1. Pure Potential
  2. Giving
  3. Cause and Effect - Karma
  4. Least Effort
  5. Intention and Desire
  6. Detachment
  7. Purpose of Life - Dharma
1. The Law of Pure Potentiality: The source of all creation is pure consciousness...pure potentiality seeking expression from the unmanifest to the manifest. And when we realize that our true Self is one of pure potentiality, we align with the power that manifests everything in the universe.

2. The Law of Giving: The universe operates through dynamic exchange...giving and receiving are different aspects of the flow of energy in the universe. And in our willingness to give that which we seek, we keep the abundance of the universe circulating in our lives.

3. The Law of 'Karma' or Cause and Effect: Every action generates a force of energy that returns to us in like kind...what we sow is what we reap. And when we choose actions that bring happiness and success to others, the fruit of our karma is happiness and success.

4. The Law of Least Effort: Nature's intelligence functions with effortless ease.....with carefreeness, harmony and love. And when we harness the forces of harmony, joy and love, we create success and good fortune with effortless ease.

5. The Law of Intention and Desire: Inherent in every intention and desire is the mechanics for its fulfillment...intention and desire in the field of pure potentiality have infinite organizing power. And when we introduce an intention in the fertile ground of pure potentiality, we put this infinite organizing power to work for us.

6. The Law of Detachment: In detachment lies the wisdom of uncertainty, in the wisdom of uncertainty lies the freedom from our past, from the known, which is the prison of past conditioning. And in our willingness to step into the unknown, the field of all possibilities, we surrender ourselves to the creative mind that orchestrates the dance of the universe.

7. The Law of 'Dharma' purpose in life: Everyone has a purpose in life. A unique gift or special talent to give to others. When we blend this unique talent with service to others, we experience the ecstasy and exultation of our own spirit, which is the ultimate goal of all goals.

Provoked

Based on the true story of Kiranjit Ahluwalia, a Punjabi woman, who was abused by her husband for 10 years. After killing her husband in self-defense, Ahluwalia is imprisoned as those close to her fight to set her free.

Kiranjit Ahluwalia (Aishwarya Rai), a Punjabi woman, marries Deepak Ahluwalia (Naveen Andrews) in an arranged marriage and moves to Southall, UK with him to be closer to his family. Initially he seems caring and affectionate towards her but soon enough the true colors of her husband begin to show as Deepak gradually reveals a darker, threatening, and even sociopathic side of himself. After enduring ten years of abuse and having two children with him, Kiranjit, unable to bear the brutality and repeated rapes at the hands of her husband any longer, sets fire to his feet while he is sleeping, unintentionally killing him. Charged with murder, her case comes to the notice of a group of South Asian social workers running an under funded organization called the Southall Black Sisters.

Kiranjit is sentenced to life imprisonment with possibility of parole in 12 years. She befriends her cellmate, a White woman named Veronica Scott (Miranda Richardson), who teaches her English. Veronica is also friends with several girls in the prison and stands up for Kiranjit against the local prison bully, Doreen (Lorraine Bruce). Veronica enlists her brother, Edward Foster (Robbie Coltrane), a highly respected Queen's Counsel, to aide in Kiranjit's appeal. Edward, in turn, realizes Kiranjit's importance to his sister and the importance of her case. His sister's request has additional meaning given that Veronica would not let him help her with her own appeal due to their on off relationship since childhood.

Before Kiranjit's appeal hearing the Southall Black Sisters bring her plight to the attention of the media by organizing rallies to gather public support for her freedom. She is ultimately freed by the judicial system in a landmark case called R v Ahluwalia, redefining provocation in cases of battered women in the UK.

You are a woman, you are nothing. Woman without education and a dependent woman.

In life there is no honor in silent suffering. It is our duty as a women to teach our sons, to treat women with respect.  Prison was the first step to freedom.

  • Co-hosted podcast...60-120 minutes

How to Start a Podcast in 10 Steps
  • Develop a podcast concept
    • Define your goals
    • Why do you want to start a podcast? It’s important to know your why, even if it’s to have fun with friends.
    • Some good reasons for starting a podcast are:
      • to generate leads for a business
      • be recognized as an industry leader
      • share an important message
    • Podcast names should have the following characteristics:
      • specific and succinct
      • available
      • memorable
      • similar to your business name or brand
    • Once you have a title in mind, run it through a podcast name checker to ensure the social media accounts and domains are available. You also don't want to use someone else's podcast name.
  • Choose your podcast format
These are some common podcast formats:

interview podcasts
cohosted podcasts
scripted non-fiction
news recap
educational podcasts
scripted fiction

Some podcasts are less than five minutes long, and others have episodes the length of a short audiobook. Here are the most common episode durations:

less than 10 minutes (14%)
10—20 minutes (15%)
20—40 minutes (31%)
40—60 minutes (22%)

Podcasting can be a full-time job or something you do on the side. You might decide to publish daily or every two years like Serial.

0—2 days (7%)

8—14 days (39%)
15—29 days (17%)
Over 30 days (1%)
  • Setup podcast equipment
Best podcast microphones
A good podcast mic enhances your audio quality and makes editing easier. Less background noise in your recording means less editing on the backend.

XLR or USB

Podcast mics have two types of connections: XLR or USB.

XLR mics give you maximum flexibility. There are a lot of XLR mics to choose from, and they usually have a long life. But XLR mics require an interface or mixer to hook up. This can get expensive for beginners.

USB microphones are less expensive and plug directly into your computer. You can also run it through an interface if you record with multiple people.

USB mics are affordable, practical, and sound great. This mic is the best option for the majority of podcasters.

  • Choose your podcast software
Once you've recorded your podcast, it's time to make edits. This is where you can structure your episode and optimize audio.

Fortunately, podcast editing software is often affordable. There are even some high-quality, free podcast editing tools.

1. Riverside.fm
2. SquadCast
3. Zoom

Editing software
1. GarageBand | Free
2. Audacity | Free
3. Descript | $10+ per month
4. Hindenburg Pro | $12 per month
  • Record your first episode
Recording your episode requires a little preparation on the front end. Follow these three steps to set yourself up for success.

1. Write a podcast outline

Rambling is one of the most common mistakes new podcasters make, and the best way to fight this tendency is by writing a podcast script or outline.

Even taking a few minutes to jot down a list of bullet points will dramatically improve the flow of your episode.

If you're working with a cohost, share the outline with them so you can work on it together.

2. Pick a good place to record

If possible, record in a quiet room with lots of furniture, curtains, rugs, or carpet.

Noise bounces off of hard, flat surfaces, so eliminate these where you can. You can also sound treat your space with foam panels on the walls.

3. Set up your recording equipment and software

Connect your mic to your computer or audio recording device.

If you have a USB mic, plug the cable into your computer’s USB port. If you have multiple hosts, run each mic through an audio interface and plug the interface into the computer.

If you have an XLR mic, connect its cable to a USB interface or an external audio recording device like the Podtrak P4.

Once plugged in, go to your audio editing software settings and select your audio input.

Microphone technique
Position your mouth 2" to 4" away from the microphone for the cleanest sound, but the optimal distance may vary based on your microphone.
  • Edit your audio
Podcast editing is primarily for cleaning up the audio and making basic changes to the structure. Try to keep the process simple. If you focus too much on production, you'll get overwhelmed.

Follow these four tips to streamline your editing workflow.

1. Create an engaging intro and outro
ou can get royalty-free music for no cost or purchase your show's intro music through one of these resources:

Soundstripe
Audio Jungle
Storyblocks

2. Edit for content, then distractions

Edit for content on your first pass and work on noise issues or other distractions on your second go-around.

3. Fade between tracks to remove unwanted noise

When you cut sections of audio, you can sometimes get little pops or clicks in the finished product.

Use the fade tool at the beginning and end of clips if you run into those issues.

4. Create a punch-list

If you don't want to listen to an entire episode multiple times, create a list of audio distractions to check during your second pass.

This list can save time and ensure you don’t miss anything.
  • Create podcast artwork
Your podcast cover art is the first thing potential listeners see on Apple Podcasts or social media.

Good artwork implies quality content, and 62% of new listeners are more likely to listen to a podcast if they like its cover art.

our podcast artwork should follow these technical specifications based on Apple’s Podcast Artwork Requirements:

square Image (3000 x 3000 pixels)
resolution of 72 dpi
PNG or JPEG file types
colorspace RGB

5 Tips to make your podcast artwork stand out
Follow these five tips to make artwork that stands out in podcast directories and attracts new listeners.

Visually communicate the subject of the podcast. Potential listeners should know what your podcast is about just by looking at your artwork. Too much symbolism or ambiguity can turn people away.
  • Design for a variety of sizes. You will use your artwork across several mediums and platforms, so it must look good even at 55 x 55 pixels.
  • Don’t use too many words or fonts. Don't use more than four words on your cover art, and make sure it's legible even in small sizes. You should also limit yourself to two complementary fonts.
  • Avoid podcast imagery. Just as movie covers don't have pictures of DVDs and TV sets, your podcast cover art shouldn't show podcasting equipment. You don’t need to remind people that they’re listening to a podcast!
  • Use consistent branding. Your podcast artwork is a part of your overall branding. Feel free to make subtle changes to artwork to fit various layouts and pages, but the imagery should stay consistent.
Tools to design your podcast artwork
  • Buzzsprout's Canva integration
  • Adobe Create Cloud Express
  • 99Designs
  • Set up podcast hosting
A podcast hosting service like Buzzsprout stores your audio files and distributes them to podcast platforms so listeners can find your show in direct stories like Apple Podcast.
  • Get listed in podcast directories
Podcast directories, like Apple Podcasts, are a centralized place for podcast listeners to find new shows.

Getting listed in the top podcast directories is a critical part of your podcast marketing strategy. Most of your new listeners will find your podcast through these directories.

Here are the steps for getting listed in the top three major podcast directories.

Submit podcast to Apple Podcasts
Apple Podcasts is the world's number one podcast directory, accounting for 37.4% of all podcast downloads.

Here’s how to get into Apple Podcasts:

Log in to Buzzsprout
Go to the Directories tab
Click Get Listed under Apple Podcasts
Log in to Apple Podcasts Connect
Click Validate
Click Submit
It can take up to 24 hours for a podcast to be approved, as Apple does a human review of every new podcast. You'll receive an email once your show is approved.

Submit podcast to Spotify
Spotify launched its directory in 2018 and is now the second-largest podcast directory, with 26.8% of all podcast downloads.

Here's how to get listed on Spotify:

Login to Buzzsprout
Go to the Directories tab
Select Get Listed under Spotify
Select Submit Podcast to Spotify
Once you submit your podcast to Spotify, it should be listed almost immediately.

Submit podcast to Google Podcasts
Google Podcasts makes your podcast visible in Google web searches and on Android phones. This directory accounts for 2.4% of all podcast downloads and works differently from its competitors.

Rather than submitting your podcast to a directory, you just make sure Google can crawl your podcast website.

You can manually submit your podcast RSS feed to Google to help speed up the process.

These will reach 95% population.

Submit to these smaller directories to further broaden your reach:

    • Podcast Index
    • Amazon Music and Audible
    • Stitcher
    • Pandora
    • TuneIn
    • iHeartRadio
    • TuneIn Radio
    • Listen Notes
  • Launch and grow your show
When it’s time to launch your podcast, you have two options. Choose whichever one feels best to you.

Strategy #1: The grand opening
A grand opening is when you build hype for your show before its launch. This is the approach used by most podcasters with an existing following.

Pick a launch date a few weeks away and reach out to people who might be interested.

You can pay for ads, submit to Apple Podcasts’ New and Noteworthy, or reach out to publications.

Strategy #2: The soft open
A soft open is more discreet. With this method, you publish episodes as if people are listening, but wait to promote your episodes.

This strategy lets you get comfortable, iron out kinks, and overcome imposter syndrome.

When you see your podcast succeed in a lower-pressure environment, promoting it more confidently is easier.

Imposter syndrome
A lot of podcasters feel like a fraud when they first start. Maybe you dislike your voice or feel inadequate to speak on your topic.

It’s easy to sideline yourself, but you have a valuable perspective to offer. Know that this is a normal phase of podcasting that gets easier.

7 Marketing tips to grow your listenership

It takes time to get the word out about your podcast. Follow these five steps to build a successful podcast marketing strategy.

1. Share your podcast with friends and family

Share your podcast with loved ones and ask for feedback. You can get their honest opinions and have them leave your first reviews on Apple Podcasts.

2. Create a Buzzsprout Ad

You can grow your listenership by running a podcast promo with Buzzsprout Ads. Podcast promos are more effective than traditional ads since they target the right audience for your show.

3. Post episodes on social media

Sharing podcast content on social media helps you build a connection with your listeners that can be hard to achieve over just audio.

You can create Visual Soundbites for Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, boost tweets on Twitter, and post content on LinkedIn. If you do this right, you could pick up ten new listeners over your first few episodes.

If you’re comfortable filming yourself, we’ve seen multiple podcasts go viral after posting original content to TikTok.

4. Join groups and forums

Providing value on forums like Reddit, Quora, or Facebook groups helps direct people to your podcast.

Respond to relevant, recent questions you can confidently answer. Include a link to one episode to direct your podcast traffic.

Aim to post one or two answers like this for each new episode.

5. Cross-promote with other creators

Cross-promotion lets you partner with other podcasters and promote each other’s shows.

This marketing method lets you get your podcast in front of a new audience.

You can contact fellow creators on Podchaser or find hosts' contact information on their websites or social media.

6. Overcast Ads

The Overcast podcast app runs ads exclusively for podcasting. In our experience, we get 100 new subscribers each ad cycle. This is an excellent way to get your first 100 subscribers if you have the money.

7. Create a call to action

A call to action (CTA) is one thing you ask your listeners to do after listening to an episode, and it can be a powerful way to reach your podcasting goals. You can ask listeners to:

subscribe to your show and leave a review
download a lead magnet
sign up for your email newsletter, etc.
Just make sure to limit yourself to one CTA per episode so you don’t overwhelm your listeners.

Dear Me

 Dear Me…..

Hearty Congratulations, for having come so far. Keep going. Always remember:

“Health is the first of life,

Wealth is the next of life,

Characters Courage is the best of life,

Respect is must in life,

Turning is the test of life,

God's blessing is the crest of life,

Love is crucial for life,

Happiness is the perfume of life,

Truth is the search of life,

Death is the rest of life...”

Balance is the key to life. Maintain a balance in all that you think, say, and do. Be Mindful. Finding a balance within, will create a balance in all areas of your life. Take care of your physical, mental, and emotional health.  Eat right, exercise well, have sound sleep. If you do not have good health, you do not have anything in life. Health gives you the energy to achieve anything in life.

When you start earning, and can provide for yourself, you become financially independent, but if you are able to not work, and let money work for you, you become financially free. Earn financial freedom in life as soon as possible. It is not only important to be independent, but more important to be free. Learn the trick of the trade.

“Know your chore values and live by it. Courage is the first of human qualities, because it is the quality which guarantees all others.” ~ Winston Churchill. If God brings you to it, he will bring you through it. If it is to be, it is up to us.  This too will pass away. This moment is inevitable. Live in the here and now. Be true, pure, strong, brave, friend to all, giving, humble and look up for there are those who trust you, those who care, there is much to suffer, much to dare, there are the poor and friendless, forget the gift, know you weakness. Live, Love, Lead, Learn and Leave a Legacy. Let this world be a better place, for you having had the opportunity to live here. Do the best you can. We are good, smart and we belong. You can lead too. Believe in yourself and in the strength, you have to shape your destiny, for nothing is impossible for a willing heart. “Grandeur of character is moral principle in practice.” ~ Grenville Kleiser.

Respect is a must in life. Courtesy is the foundation of every relationship. With self and with others – both tangible and intangible. There is so much of good in the worst of us and so much of bad in the best of us that it ill behoves any of us, to find fault with the rest of us. Each one is going through a battle; we know nothing about. Don’t blame, complain, or gossip. Have a kind heart. Respect self, others and the nature, and the results will follow.

Only thing constant here is change. How well you can cope with it is what matters. No two moment would be the same. You change, people in your life change, surrounding change, situations change. Adapt and adopt. Turning is the test of life. Pass each of them and move on to the next as soon as possible. There is no blueprint for all situations. Each of them would be unique. That is what would make life beautiful. Here you will have exams first and learnings/teachings will come later.

Remember what your dad always used to say? “All for himself and God for all. Time and Tide waits for no man.” Being religious or not, is an individual choice. All roads lead to the same destination. Once born we all die. But it is good to have a faith to hold on, to give you strength, and uplift you when needed. The belief in what you do not know, so that you can come to know what you believe in is your faith. It is the playing ground of impression developed from birth. Like every other thing, your environment, education and energy moulds it.

‘It is not the years in your life, but the life in your years that count.’ Life is very short. Spend it with gratitude, love and being positive. Let love be your guiding light, and may you light the world with your love. May you shine. Love is the solution for most problems in the world. Nobody is born a terrorist, they become one deprived of love.

With love as the guiding light, spread happiness, everytime, everywhere! May the world be always happy. When you drop the habit of judging others from your head to heart, you will not only be in a state of happiness but will be able to live in constant state of joy. May your joy lead you to blissful living.

Life by itself has no meaning, it is a platform to create your own meaning. Life is a paradox. Many people have spend wondering about it – Philosophers, spiritual leaders, scientist – It is like the chicken and egg paradox, and not a riddle. You can keep debating what came first, chicken or the egg. Keep taking the next step, keep progressing, keep creating, keep contributing and keep experiencing.

Learn from the mistake of others, you cannot live long enough to learn everything from your own life. Everything in life comes with an expiry date, including you and me. We have only one life that we know, and here only one thing is certain, we all die. Life is short. You live your life. Remember where you came from, and you will never be lost. Let the world say whatever they want, stick to your convictions and the rest is assured…

Be Good to self and to all. Live the ‘AND’ life. You cannot have it all at the same time, but you can have it all.

Best wishes for all your future endeavours,

Peace & Happiness Humesha,

With Warm Wishes & Lots of Love,
