A hundred little flames - Preeti Shenoy

"Do not look for the ideal man or the ideal woman – there is none. If you understand that it is your needs that make you seek a companion, find someone who is reasonably compatible with you. If you accept, respect, love, include, care for, and take responsibility for each other, it can be a beautiful #relationship."

Is it wrong to be in relationship? Are all blessed to have fruitful relationship? What's the difference between friendship and relationships? The book cover all these and more.

This year too of the sweet tokens on my birthday were books...and from the actual to official I finished reading the second.

If the contemporary Ticking Times was so much in line with all the bank scams unveiling; ' A hundred little flames' revealed the reality behind the myth of family bonding in God's own country.

I liked the way the story tries to convey a very important message, to look at relationships beyond what we think they are. There is more to an individual than how they are related to us. This was a great read from actual to official.

One thing that brought smile on my face is the importance of writing a dairy.

So many facets to relationship- father-son; grandfather - grandson; husband-wife; parents- children; master-servent; friends. Ayan; Gopal Shanker; Jayaraj; Shyamala; Rohini; Kamakshi; Ghanshyam; Padmaja; Velu...Good Lord. You bring back memories.

Reverberating Thoughts

Why do certain things happen at a certain time and fashion? At times when least expected. Some bringing joy and some sorrow. Is it divine will; destiny; fate or Karma? These questions keep reverberating. How do the law of attraction work here?

"As I keep pondering, I read what you seek is seeking you" - Rumi.

Geeta Mishr said: When you have difficult time in your life...just sit down....see the incidence in your life as if u r thitd person....u will get better perspectives and understanding of the situation....then decide your action to react..hold...be quite and let time pass on or work on remedy. So I believe instead of thinking in y it happens we need to focus on how to handle"

True: How is a more important question than why. Always.

One point to note is our reactions like we cry we shout will occur naturally thought your mind knows that we need not react....

It was a very big realisation for me that our body and brain are different.

Geeta: I was on operation table.... surgery was done...my body was very unstable....when I opened my eyes...but my mind was fresh and noticing everything around...my body unstable , nurses sitting and chatting besides...

Practically it's seem to be difficult...but when be a witness to these they really doesn't bother you...you have witness like a oil drop in bucket of water...Rumi what here meant is your divine nature...which is not connected with your body...like out side air is seeking the air inside the mud pot...with the present mind we think the mud pot is the only reality however...it's only the voidnes which is the truth.

Law of attraction works for them who believe in their thoughts or power of mind. Confused minds get lost in their thoughts n forget to believe.

The End To Movie Watch & Reviews

Life is a mystery - Mystery of beauty, bliss and Divinity.

And here we get the news of the mysterious death of the beauty diva of yesteryear. Who is to be blamed? How can we mourn?

Well for me personally; having been a great fan of her can relate each phase of my life to her movies or events from her life. So personally I decide to say goodbye to movies.

RGV’s msg-

MY REALLY PERSONAL NOTE ON SRIDEVI

YES she was the most desirable woman and the biggest super star of the country and ruled as a main heroine in the entire country for more than 20 years..But that’s just a part of the story

However shocked and sad I feel about Sridevi's death, it’s finally once again a rude reminder for all of us about how unpredictable, cruel, fragile and mysterious both life and death are

After her death ,there is definitely much more for me to say than what most people are saying now about how beautiful she was, what a great actress she was, how her death affected them, " RIP"s "Om shanthi" s. etc etc etc
Sridevi's life is a classic case of how each persons actual life is completely different from how the rest of the outside world perceives it.
For many, Sridevi's life was perfect . Beautiful face, great talent, seemingly stable family with two beautiful daughters--
From outside everything looked so enviable and desirable... But was Sridevi a very happy person and did she lead a very happy life?

I know her life from the time I met her first for my film kshanakshanam . I saw with my own eyes how her life was like a bird in the sky till her father’s death and then became like a bird in a cage due to her overprotective mother

In those days actors used to be only paid in mostly black money and due to fear of tax raids her father used to trust friends and relatives who all betrayed her the moment the father died
Coupled with this the ignorant mother made many wrong investments in litigated properties and all those mistakes combined made her penny less by the time Boney came into her life
Boney himself was in huge debts and all he could afford to give her was a fat shoulder to cry on
After her mother became a psychotic patient because of a wrong surgery on her brain in USA,though Boney sued the hospital they dint get any huge amounts of money in settlement because of some agreement mistakes he did with the lawyers there
Once the mother died her younger sister Shri Latha eloped and got married to their neighbours son ..The mother before dying put all properties in sridevis name but her sister put a case on her demanding half the property claiming that her mother was insane and not in her senses when she signed the will due to the brain surgery

So in effect the woman desired by millions in the world was all alone in the world except for one Boney

Boney ‘s mother portrayed her as a home breaker and publically punched her in the stomach in a five star hotel lobby in revenge for what she presumed about what she did to Boney’s first wife Mona

Except for the short glimmer of English vinglish Sridevi has been pretty much a very unhappy woman
Boney’s debts ,the uncertainty of the future, the ugly turns and twists in her private life left deep scars in the super stars sensitive mind and there after she was never at peace. She went through so much in her life and due to her early career entry, life never gave her time to grow up at a normal pace.
More than the external peace, her internal mental state was of a high degree of concern and this caused her to look at her own self . She was the most beautiful woman for so many people. But did she think she was beautiful ?
Yes but every actresses nightmare is age and she was no exception
For years she was doing cosmetic surgeries the effects of which can be clearly seen In her interviews and public appearances,
She always came across as very shy, insecure and low on confidence .
Some one who is very uptight, who built a psychological wall around her as she was scared of anybody to really see what's going on within her. She was panicky about anybody knowing what her psychological insecurities were.
Not because of her fault, but because she was thrust with fame from a very young age that never gave her a chance to be independant and be what she could really be and really wanted to be
She had to put on the make up and be somebody else not just infront of the camera, but also behind the camera.

Though I as an audience thoroughly enjoyed her on the screen , I now after knowing her as a person wish that she was allowed to be a star even in her normal life instead of being constantly directed by her parents, her relatives, her husband and to an extent even her own daughters .. She was scared whether her daughters would be accepted or whether they will go the Hema Malini’s daughter Esha Deol way

I could see in her eyes the pain she was going through deep inside her and that’s because she is actually a child trapped in a woman’s body ..she is naive as a person, but suspicious because of her bitter experiences which is not a very good combination . She used to convey to me so much through her silence than most would in their best conversations

Coming to her death ,it is most likely a combination of heart stroke induced accidental drowning death in the tub . But medications might have played a huge role.

Many suicides and accidental deaths happen after big parties or weddings. That's because people with depression and insecurities can't understand why the whole world is so happy and enjoying, but they are not able to feel the happiness inspite of all the glitter and spotlight. That reminds them that they are deeply sad and that there is nothing wrong with the world and the fault is with just them that they are not able to feel anything.

Some people who are very deeply depressed commit suicide. Others, just to control their depression and anxiety, take extra pills not knowing that it can be dangerous in certain doses and conditions

Keeping the speculations on her death aside and coming back to the point of her life,I generally don't say " Rest In Peace" after people die, but in her case I want to really say it because I very strongly believe that she would finally and really rest in peace now for the first time in her life ,

Or shall we say death?

-----'

Henceforth no more Moonlit nights! Chandni gone forever. Alas!
We’ll never forget those Lamhe

--------

There was something unexpectedly old-school about how Sridevi and Boney Kapoor fell in love. It wasn’t loud, it wasn’t performative, and it certainly wasn’t designed for headlines. They grew close during Mr India, a film that changed her career and quietly changed his life. Boney has spoken openly about how he fell for her discipline first, the sheer seriousness with which she treated her work, her punctuality, her silence, her focus. This wasn’t a star chasing romance. This was admiration turning into attachment, attachment turning into commitment. Sridevi, who had been working since childhood, trusted very few people, and when she did, it was absolute. Their marriage in 1996 felt protective, almost insular, like two people choosing family over noise. With Boney, she stepped back, chose motherhood, chose privacy, and built a life that was deliberately smaller than her stardom. For someone who had lived in front of the camera since she was a child, that choice itself was deeply romantic.

And then came the night that still feels impossible to process. In February 2018, in a Dubai hotel room, Sridevi passed away due to accidental drowning following loss of consciousness. Boney was there. He had gone to surprise her. That detail alone makes the story unbearable. He was the first one to find her. The man who had built his adult life around her suddenly had to navigate police statements, forensics, paperwork, and the brutal logistics of bringing her home, all while being in shock. Public grief is cruel, but private grief like this is something else entirely. Boney has never romanticised that loss. He speaks of it with broken honesty, of emptiness, of guilt, of learning to live with a silence that never really lifts. When I think of their story, I don’t think of gossip or controversy. I think of a woman who finally chose herself, love, and family, and a man who lost the centre of his life in a moment that still doesn’t make sense. Some love stories don’t end. They just stop mid-sentence, and the ache stays.

20th March: International Day of Happiness

In 2011, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution which recognised happiness as a “fundamental human goal” and called for “a more inclusive, equitable and balanced approach to economic growth that promotes the happiness and well-being of all peoples” Celebrated for the first time in 2013 “This International Day of Happiness is more than just a fun celebration, it also remind us all that the world is a better place when we connect with and care about the people around us”
https://youtu.be/K7gYZENLTmY

What's wrong with the world today?
A drop of Happiness can cause
Smiles
Optimism
Self worth
Reduced Depression
Improved Health

But what a day it was. An International declaration of the celebration; and 39 Indians abducted by Isis were declared dead😕

Tried to take stock of people around me who were really happy and could not find any.

Some striving for basic necessity;
Some wanting a house; others a car;
Those having cars wanting bigger ones.
Single Souls looking for a life partner,
Married ones wanting to get seperated;
Those busy with work wanting some leisure,
Ones with time looking for a past time.

Life is so quer with its twists and turns.

A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it. It just blooms. Wish we could learn to be happy from them.

Mother and Wife @ Happy Women's Day

Having been an ambitious and talented student having travelled all over India due to father's transferable job had the normal desire of every lady as well; to be a loving mother and wife. After graduating in she fell for this guy. Eventually she got married into a well to do family. She was successful, educated, visionary but all the man cared was did she know to cook?

There started small rifts in the family; she took up higher education got a job. Decided his income could be used for necessity and her as an additional supplement. Then they had one son. Were almost on the verge of buying a house but there were rifts and it did not materialise.

Thinking of the many women of substance and talent who ruine their lives getting into wedlock.

Man n woman are different. There are differences in terms of physical, physiological, mental, characteristical, biological in men n women. The purposes are unique for both of them. Appreciate the differences n uniqueness and salute men n women.

Woman assumes various roles in our life as mother, sister, friend, guide, teacher, wife, daughter, companion etc

My sincere n heartfelt thanks to those women who added value n colors in my life 🙏😀😍😘💐 To all who have been through tough time. Is her role only to cook and take care of her family and be confined to the four walls?

A colleague said -
I know of women who stay lazy and party around and cook rarely and blame men for everything wrong in their lives, all in the name of gender equality........Quite obvious Today is not dedicated to the above........
Today is meant to be dedicated to all The Women, around whom life revolves, without whom their families would starve for food and affection, without whom there would be No More inspiration, without whom we cannot quote epitome of parenting and care.......Without whom we cannot talk about work life balance.......I dedicate my admiration to Those Women.....Happy Mother, Sisters and Friends who are born women and still remain an integral part of my Life. You Make Me Complete. Happy Women's Day.

May be I did/do not fit into that category.
Managing What.....One cannot manage All. If I gain something in life......I will have to give up something......It's all a weighing machine......I have gained more, than what I lost.....??

Here's hoping that in the future we won't need to celebrate a Women's Day or Men's Day; that gender equality will be a matter of fact, a matter of value and a matter of pride; something we all take for granted. Then we can truly celebrate all 365 days in a year as "human days" 🏵 😊
Till that utopia becomes a reality ..Stay blessed everyone!!!

The Ride not taken. Travel @ March 2018

Had a dream come true; women's ride on Honda Activa from Ernakulam To Mankunnu near Munnar on the 10th of March.

Thanks to Sreebha for introducing me to it. Had her mom; Deepa and her daughter also join us for the ride with Jaysree who was always a great rider and driver and with whom we had discussed about doing this long before.

We were 6 Women linked to our company with two mother-daughter combination.

Coordinated by Niveditha Nithya to amazing sacred caves we set off under the leadership of a woman of substance a true leader who kept her smile and spirit inspite of all hardship. All this had full backing from Shanavas Ekka and team.

Riders- Co -riders of the trip where:

Sayoojya- Aksa (The tails; who had a tough time on the onward journey as I was slow, and they could not overtake me)
Jayasree -Sreebha's Mom
Sreebha-Anju (Tall and strong Anju; Great to know you from Thrissur; Tough Time never last but Tough people do. All will be well)
Meera- Anagha K.S (Young; budding solo traveller - way to go my girl : - will always remember you when I see a puddle - 'Kuzhi'
Deepa-Deppa's Daughter
Niveditha-Jessy (They had to finally come in car as they did not get their two wheeler right and ready)

So here we met 6 New people and it was great to know them and helped us make our trip a memorable one.

We had fun on the go...✌😊 Starting with breakfast from Aryas at 9.30; team pic near Mariane Drive at 11.30; lunch at Ravipuram around 1.30; fight at Sarafa memorial hospital for parking the two wheelers there; Nithya and Jessie running around for their two wheelers; we having ice creams Fruit Exotica; Coffee craze; Nut overload; Malai Craze; French Vanella; French Strawberry...to beat the heat...from Cream & Stone.

Finally at around 3.30 pm the real ride began with flag off from the Mayor of Kochi and we halting at every 30 kms. Though hot in the beginning it was pleasant by the time we reached Kothamangalam; had beautiful sunset view; fuel tea break at Adimali and by the time we reached Kallar it was dead dark. From there Munnar 15kms. towards left Mankunnu 16 kms. As some riders looked tired and kept asking have we reached stopped the car to ask if anyone need break. Alas Nithya and Jessie fell off the scooter and her leg was bleeding. Jeans had to be torn off below the left knee. Still she was determined to ride. Road with holes; with twists and turns; ups and downs, slow but steady we reached the destination by 8 pm. We could see forest fire on a hill nearby - scary it was. Did we really reach the destination or did we not? Lo and Behold there was an uphill task ahead of us. Our stay was little high from the main road with no proper roads. It appeared miles away as we had to climb after a long day and it was literally impossible for Nithya. Three others from Umbatto lifted her and took her upstairs. She had to be taken to the hospital for dressing.

Great place; Great people; Great ambience you would just love it if you are a nature lover; though we could not admire the beauty at night. Campfire under open sky on rock top; stay in a cave house resort is all that we could cherish that night with amazing homely good and guitar by Rithique. We missed Nitya' s presence initially but she joined us soon. As I close my eyes a week after, I can still see the star studded sky above, feel the music and campfire. But we got into rooms to sleep at night. Oops Sreeba and Aish - The two daughters could not sleep even there because of spider and ants; and finally there was the tent inside the room - Another first.

Woke up by 4 am, Thanks to the Ants I did not have to break my yoga routine and by 6 am could be back to the amazing place where we had our campfire this time getting on to climbing the tree catching and getting onto through roots. Did Shambavi Mudra and meditated in a cave underneath a bit cautious if there were snakes crawling around. Did not see any, but there were red ants. Returned by 7.30 had Kappa and Chicken for breakfast and off we went for next walk.Caves, trees, rocks; but no waterfall as it was hot, amazing walk but we were split into two teams...what more would you want to refresh your mind? Great job Junais with 40+ names including Shiva/Eashu and Great guide full of energy Johny Chettan with great homely food with Molly Chechi. All the best to the team behind. Peace. There was much more to see; but we had to start our return trip. Before we got down few shared their thoughts and it was interesting to hear that even Napolian was afraid of Cats and when strong people come together men/women team would be stronger and we can accomplish greater task. Half heartedly we had to start our ride back home to reality.

Great effort and job. Thank you guys for the amazing job and Great memory. It was interesting to know work colleagues better and to know about others around, a little more insight into life via a ride.

All through I missed and wished you were around Acha. On reaching Adimaly we had our break for tea and it was good to know that there were well wishers and friends worried as I was unavailable for around 18 hours as there was no data and range uphill.
"If you have at least one person genuinely supporting You, you're blessed!" So I am. Jisha even tried and got Sreebas number to enquire.

It was saddening and shocking to know that the forest fire had taken lives of more than 10 people and therefore trekking was stopped at Munnar.

Wishing you all the very best in all your future endeavours my dear co-riders and one and all behind the show who helped make these two days memorable.

Mattanchery/Fort Kochi & Uduppi/Manipal - Feb 18 Trips

Finally after waiting for 10 long years Rahul and Mamta got a go ahead and with blessings from parents got into wedlock at Ram mandir Mattanchery which gave us an opportunity to explore this place. With sumptuous Gujarathi breakfast we went to Balaji temple, Sri Krishna Temple, Saibaba temple and Jain Temple. Got an opportunity to be part of world conference on religion and be to Santhilals as well.

In a couple of days was Anil' s wedding. Could visit Church and Rameshwaram temple.

Thanks to Rohit for inviting us for his son's Upanayanam. We booked our bus tickets to Udupi. Finally Jisha and myself made a trip though we had to cancell both ours in 2017. Life is what happens to us when we are busy making other plans. A surprising sleeper seats. Though the bus was delayed we reached our stay at Hotel Mathura comforts in the vicinity of Sri Krishna temple on Saturday morning.

After having breakfast and freshening up we set to Malpe unaware of the adventure ahead of us. St.Marys Island as read was amazing, clean and unique with stones; shells; mud and rocks. It is believed that Vasco Da Gama was here. But the unexpected fun was when we returned. We did Parasailing; speed boat ride; monkey boat. I was in the water for long.Returned to the hotel at around 7pm.

Next day morning went to Kaup beach; highlight there was light house on the rock. While returning went to church and attended Malayalam mass. Walked around Krishna temple but search of Iscon was a big disappointment. In the evening went to Kemmanu; did not do the boating but the hanging bridge was scary and though only walkable guys were riding bikes on it. The landscape was scenic. Went to the place were three rivers met and they joined the sea.a bit but less crowded than our backwaters with Fort Kochi and Vypin on either sides meeting Arabian sea.
While returning went to Malpie again to walk on the newly constructed bridge.

All 4 beaches were unique and different.

Next day attended the Upanayanam. Which was an experience by itself . Then went to the Shiva and Krishna temple. The caravan was amazing. Though the deities in the temple can be viewed only from out; was blessed to get in as poojari was getting in for the Pooja. Had delicious lunch and set off to Coin Museum and Manipal . Manipal university and garden was huge and another world by itself. Came back to the hotel and then to the bus stop.

As all good things come to an end; this too did giving us sweet memories.

But there was another sweet day awaiting for us the next weekend and it was the Potluck with family of my dear preceding team at Hoysala guesthouse. Blessed to have everyone with families, some single, couple, with one child; two ; newly wedded; mom to be Bank was the highlight and Joseph's mom guest of honour.

Thanks to car drive by Sajeev. Our trip started from Kochi on 26th morning in Fiat Lines at 4.30 am to Thirupathi. Chennai roads were amazing. Stayed at Keys hotel and went to Devi temple that evening. Early next morning left to foothills and went up climbing. Interesting walk and beautiful view. Told Amma temples are kept in beautiful locations as only then some would visit. Being holiday, it was very crowded. So could walk around and see places and have annadanam untill our alloted time. Place was well maintained with rest rooms and dustbin's all around. Returned down in bus and by the time we reached it was almost 12 am.

28th morning had breakfast and went to Kalahasthi another Shiva temple on the banks of a river. But the highlight here was the Ganapathi temple below. From there another long drive to Kanchipuram. Kanchikamakshi temple was mesmerising.

29th morning visited Eakambareswarar temple my second visit and few temples nearby before beginning the drive to Thiruvanamallai all excited to do Girivallam. But the temple was so huge and crowded with festival and given that Neil was tired had to drop the plan.

On 30th began our return journey home. Though we could not have our special Briyani had delicious breakfast from Adayar Anand Bhavan during both the leg of the journey.

A family time to begin the year seeking blessings from almighty; soon after a day trip to Maniratnam's favourite spot Athirapilly clubbed with Tumboormuzhi and Peringalkootu - The officers bungalow was a first visit with colleagues from first office - George & Paulson. Highlight of the trip was visiting Litty's house.

Indeed practise makes man perfect. This time around it was easier to climb:
1) Malayatoor Mala - Amazing year end experience with Tara; Sajeev and Neil
2) Athirapilly- Could do it just like that - Though had done it many times before;was first experience to Peringalkuthu Dam. View from IG' s quarter was mesmerising. Great to have the reunion with G&P colleague from where I had my entry into working world.
3) From Thirupati to Thirumala via Alipiri...amazing walk.
4) Missed Arunachala Girivalam though the temple was spectacular.

Padmavat & Aami

On the day of release was at Padmavathi temple...Finally got to watch the movie that was delayed wondering why the hue and cry in this era and society? The tale is said to be derived from Malik Muhammad Jayasi's 16th century epic poem narrating the story of a period of history when unblemished Rajput warriors waged valiant wars while their acquiescent women unquestioningly adhered to a patriarchal code of conduct. Ranveer Singh as Allaudhin Kilji, ebulliently evil and visceral in his portrayal of a venal villain on the rampage makes us hate him; which is said to be the success of the characters act. Movies beauty, as is usually the case with a Sanjay Leela Bhansali extravaganza, is skin deep. It is magnificent and overly manufactured.

-------
Aami

Went to see the movie for the similarity and familiarity with Kamala or Madhavi but was disappointed to a certain extend. Manju was good but not up to mark.

Both from tcr, brought up outside Kerala, Mumbai connections,Grandmother's pet; Like wearing Burka and like writing and poetry...

Origin

There would be a time to mourn, now is the time for action. I was hooked!

Interesting questions- where did we come from? Where are we going?

Dan Brown takes us to Spain on this adventure and introduces us to more art, literature, architecture, science, history, religion, and gives us some symbols to play with.

There would be a time to mourn, now is the time for action. I was hooked!

1. Origin is the fifth book to feature Robert Langdon, a Harvard professor of symbology and religious iconography. Symbology is a fictional academic discipline created by Dan Brown. The closest real life disciplines would be iconography, cryptography or semiotics.

2. The book is primarily set in Spain, a country rich in history, art and religion - the perfect starting point for a Robert Langdon adventure.

3. This will be the first Robert Langdon thriller to feature modern art; it opens in the Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao. Brown’s previous thrillers have all centred around classical art.

4. The character of Robert Langdon was named after John Langdon, a professor of typography who is known for his complex ambigrams, which play a starring role in Angels and Demons.

5. The paradoxical interplay between science and religion is central to the plot of Origin. This is a topic that's always fascinated Dan - perhaps not surprisingly for the son of a church organist and a maths teacher!

Lady you are not a man - Apurva Purohit

This needs a separate mention by itself.

Today’s woman wants to make a success of both family and career and is unwilling to compromise on either. But the burden of coping with deadlines, recalcitrant children, lazy husbands, difficult bosses and equally difficult in-laws can be daunting, even overwhelming.

In this book, Apurva Purohit, then CEO of Radio City 91.1 FM, now president of Jagran group, shows how women can accept, adapt and achieve their way to the highest rung in every arena. Through real-life stories and funny anecdotes, she provides pithy tips on a multitude of topics: from training husbands to training interns, from the right attitude to getting it right with kids, from dealing with household crises to office emergencies, from building a reputation to paving ones’s way to the top.

I } Before any great achievement comes the ACCEPTANCE of your particular reality-and then you learn to adapt to it, to use it to excel and fly.

The ten lessons of ACCEPTANCE:

1. I accept my femininity: We don’t have to apologize for being women; we must accept all our feminine traits unreservedly. Thankfully, there is no longer any need to behave and look like a man to succeed.

2. I accept that I will feel guilty: Every woman has the right to choose to be either a working mom or a stay-at-home mom or not a mom at all. However, in all cases, there will be some guilt attached. We have to accept that guilt comes along as part of the territory of being a woman.

3. I accept that life is unfair- not only to women but to men too: While it may seem that life has been unjust largely to women, the fact is that men too have many challenges they face, including having to live up to the stereotype of being the main provider of the family.

4. I accept that I can multitask and thus will end up doing more work: Multitasking is a unique skill which only women appear to have; we should accept it as our strength and not as a burden, and use it to the fullest capacity to move ahead in the race.

5. I accept that being a masochistic sufferer is simply not cool: In today’s day and age, suffering is no longer seen as noble but downright impractical and foolish. So let us stop playing the martyr’s role.

6. I accept that I have to wait patiently to take over the world: Traditional stereotypes are slowly blurring and both genders are borrowing characteristics from each another. Men will have to morph into women if they want to survive in the new world; we simply need to be patient.

7. I accept that men can’t bear children: There comes a time in most women’s lives when we will have to take a break from our careers to go through the process of childbearing. We need to take it in our stride and not resent our partners for not being able to play an equal role in the process.

8. I accept that I will improve with age: As women grow older, we become more confident. It is then the best time for us to mazimise our potential and do what we couldn’t do when we were younger- whether it is to learn pottery or start a new business.

9. I accept that everyone need not be size zero: Women need to love themselves just the way they are. Each of us has a unique personality which should form the basis of our individual self-worth.

10. I accept that I can be my own worst enemy: ‘ Women are nasty to other women’ is a myth we all need to debunk and accept the fact that many times we ourselves are the cause of our own problem.

II} ADAPT yourself to your reality – and then you will be able to mould reality to what you want.

The ten lessons of adapting:

1. I will approach life with a positive mindset: When I strive towards achieving success, I realize that having a positive attitude is the first step. I will win the battle in my mind first.

2. I will always work hard: I realize that running away from hard work in running away from success. The single most important driver of success in life is perseverance, and women who have triumphed have done so only because they simply didn’t give up.

3. I will learn to focus on the essential things and sacrifice the unimportant: Being able to prioritize what is important and what is not is a key skill for success. We don’t need to be perfect; it is better to be outstandingly great at the specific areas we have chosen to focus on.

4. I will ask for help in order to have a successful career and home life: We need to create support systems around ourselves at home and at work, by asking for help, and we should not worry about the loss of control it may entail.

5. I will not take advantage of the special privileges I get for being women: It is critical that we don’t take undue advantage of the privileges awarded to us and deliver value back to our organizations. We need to behave with responsibility, especially in the interest of the future generations of women who will come after us.

6. I will have to train my husband to be a part of my support system: A supportive spouse is a fundamental requirement if we want to make a success of our professional and personal lives. Unfortunately, readymade helpful husbands are in short supply and need to be trained.

7. I do not need to be the boss in every situation: Certain situations expect us to take charge and certain situations require us to give up control. We need to adapt and change according to the circumstances.

8. I will be a team player in my family: It is important to think of the family as a composite whole and therefore when there comes a time in our life where a decision has to be made which requires compromise, it is crucial to go for the one which maximises the entire family’s interest.

9. I will build relationships beyond work and use the power of networking: A lack of networking at the professional level is being seen as one of the critical factors by women themselves in their failure to move ahead in the corporate race. It is important that we make time to build these formal or informal networks.

10. I will take control of my own destiny: The difference between women who are successful and happy and those who are not is not in their special circumstances but in their ability to take control of any circumstance and make it special.

III} The final stage. A sense of accomplishment-hard won, but oh so sweet!

1. As I step on the ladder of success, I will always remember how lucky I am: Very few women in the world have received the benefit of an education and the opportunity of using that education to gain financial independence. Let us continually remember how fortunate we are.

2. I will assert that I am an individual: It is important to deal with and debunk the stereotyping of being thought of only in context of the males in our family, as wife/mother/daughter. We must make sure that people recognize us as separate and equally important entities.

3. I will not walk away ahead of schedule: Women start preparing for marriage and motherhood for earlier than they need to and, in the process, the period when they step back from their careers grows unnecessarily long, compromising their growth. We must avoid this.

4. As a boss, I will recognize that I have to treat my male subordinates differently: Male and female subordinates have different buttons, and need to be handled differently. We must keep this in mind and work accordingly for the success of our projects.

5. I am proud to be successful, smart and single: Successful single women are a critical demonstration of the freedome women have achieved in taking control of their own destinies. The sisterhood salutes them.

6. I will not let stone age men or zealots affect me: Regressive men and overzealous feminists are polarized ends of a spectrum and can affect women negatively. Always remain a liberal thinker on the climb to the top.

7. I do not want the crutch of reservation to succeed: Reservations tend to be mere tokenism and can actually harm the cause of women in the long run by promoting mediocrity. We should compete on a level playing field and not depend on reservations to succeed.

8. I will pay my dues to the next generation of women by mentoring the younger men around me: An important responsibility of being a woman achiever is mentoring the next generation of men so that they grow up to respect and treat women as equals.

9. As I whizz up the steps of success, I will always remember that building up a good reputation is more important than building a good CV: A good reputation cannot be created in a day. It is built over millions of moments of being diligent, sincere, hardworking and ethical.

10. I will celebrate my success openly and without embarrassment: It is important to recognize our achievements and celebrate them. Let us learn something from men for a change and praise ourselves whenever we need to.

The Help, The Gift, How to be a Bawse and Fish

One of the best gifts you can give a book lover, is undoubtedly books and things related to it. Book marks, book tourch and 10 books; what more could one ask for when you turn 40?

The Help

By Kathryn Stockett.

Twenty-two-year-old Skeeter has just returned home after graduating from Ole Miss. She may have a degree, but it is 1962, Mississippi, and her mother will not be happy till Skeeter has a ring on her finger. Skeeter would normally find solace with her beloved maid Constantine, the woman who raised her, but Constantine has disappeared and no one will tell Skeeter where she has gone.

Aibileen is a black maid, a wise, regal woman raising her seventeenth white child. Something has shifted inside her after the loss of her own son, who died while his bosses looked the other way. She is devoted to the little girl she looks after, though she knows both their hearts may be broken.

Minny, Aibileen’s best friend, is short, fat, and perhaps the sassiest woman in Mississippi. She can cook like nobody’s business, but she can’t mind her tongue, so she’s lost yet another job. Minny finally finds a position working for someone too new to town to know her reputation. But her new boss has secrets of her own.

Seemingly as different from one another as can be, these women will nonetheless come together for a clandestine project that will put them all at risk. And why? Because they are suffocating within the lines that define their town and their times. And sometimes lines are made to be crossed.

In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women — mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends — view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don't.

Fish!: A Remarkable Way to Boost Morale and Improve Results

by Stephen C. Lundin, Harry Paul, John Christensen, Kenneth H. Blanchard

Here's another management parable that draws its lesson from an unlikely source--this time it's the fun-loving fishmongers at Seattle's Pike Place Market. In Fish! the heroine, Mary Jane Ramirez, recently widowed and mother of two, is asked to engineer a turnaround of her company's troubled operations department, a group that authors Stephen Lundin, Harry Paul, and John Christensen describe as a "toxic energy dump." Most reasonable heads would cut their losses and move on. Why bother with this bunch of losers? But the authors don't make it so easy for Mary Jane. Instead, she's left to sort out this mess with the help of head fishmonger Lonnie. Based on a bestselling corporate education video, Fish! aims to help employees find their way to a fun and happy workplace. While some may find the story line and prescriptions--such as "Choose Your Attitude," "Make Their Day," and "Be Present"--downright corny, others will find a good dose of worthwhile motivational management techniques. If you loved Who Moved My Cheese? then you'll find much to like here. And don't worry about Mary Jane and kids. Fish! has a happy ending for everyone. --Harry C. Edwards

Hadiya - Guide to righteousness.

Akhila to Hadiya in Kerala and Payal to Hadiya in Rajastan are these cases of “psychological kidnapping”; time would answer.

Daughter of K.M.Ashokan a retired armyman an Atheist and Ponnamma a staunch Hindu from T V Puram in Kerala’s Kottayam district.

After clearing Class 12 in her second attempt, she applied for admission to the private Sivaraj Homeopathy Medical College & Research Institute in Salem, Tamil Nadu.

Akhila quickly bonded with the four — Divya, Archana Rajan, Dilna and Jaseela Aboobacker — as well as Jaseela’s younger sister Faseena, who had joined another course at the same institute. Six months later, the six took up a house on rent together, moving out of the hostel.

This was the first time Akhila had had Muslim friends, or Muslim acquaintances. Jaseela, who is now a homeopathic doctor, says Akhila would watch her and Faseena as they offered namaz five times a day. Jaseela and Faseena were from Angadippuram in Malappuram,

Says Aboobacker, “Akhila was on her way to Mangaluru, to Shahana and Musthafa. They wanted her to stop studying and end relations with her family. Jaseela told me if Akhila goes to Mangaluru, we would not get her back. Hence, she forced her to come to our house.”

On Akhila’s insistence to learn more about Islam, Aboobacker says, he took her to two Islamic institutions in Kozhikode. Both refused to admit Akhila instantly, and so they turned to Sathya Sarani, the only institute in Kerala that offers a two-month residential programme for new converts to Islam.

The president of a women’s group, National Women’s Front, A S Zainaba, also came, reportedly at the behest of Sathya Sarani.

Zainaba, who once worked with the Sathya Sarani, says the institute had sought her help to ascertain Akhila’s intentions. Akhila attended a course at Sathya Sarani, and returned to Zainaba’s house as ‘Hadiya’. “Now Hadiya also started talking about marriage, hoping to find some support system. At her behest, I registered her name on a matrimonial website,” says Zainaba.

Through Matrimonial site she met Shafin Jahan and they got married. 26, who had just returned from Oman, through an Islamist matrimonial website.

The NIA told the court that the website through which Hadiya and Shafin Jahan married "is a sham" and forced conversion and terror recruitment was the true motive. The National Investigation Agency alleges that the website has links to a terror group

In May, the Kerala High Court cancelled the marriage and ordered Hadiya to return to her family. Since then, she had been living at her father's home in Kottayam where she hardly had any contact with anyone without her father's approval.

Shafin Jahan challenged the annulment in the Supreme Court. He said Hadiya stayed with him for only 48 hours before her father went to the police.

Hadiya, the 24-year-old Kerala woman who converted to Islam and married a Muslim man, is an example of "psychological kidnapping", the country's anti-terror agency National Investigation Agency, NIA, told the top court on Monday.

A Hindu woman ordered to stay at a government shelter in Rajasthan after she declared in court that she had married a Muslim, was told on 7th Nov that she is an adult and free to choose where she wants to go. As Payal Sanghvi, 22, said she wanted to go back to her husband Mohammad Faiz, her childhood sweetheart, the Rajasthan High Court asked the police..

Payal's family admitted the young couple had been friends since school.

"We are disappointed, this girl is under some kind of spell...they used to study together in school, now what can one do about that," said her father Narpat Singhvi, upset by the court ruling.

Payal's father-in-law, denying any forcible conversion, said: "There is no love jihad...even 0.1%. They knew each other for 10 years, they used to meet often, and talked for hours on the phone. Both families knew."

The case coincides with the controversy over Hadiya, a 24-year-old Kerala woman who converted to Islam and married a Muslim. Her marriage has been challenged in court by her father, who alleged that it was a form of recruitment by ISIS that is gaining currency in Kerala.

A wife is not a chattel and the husband cannot be her guardian, the Supreme Court said on 28th Nov. after interacting with Hadiya, a woman from Kerala, who is the alleged victim of "love jihad".

Who can describe the pain or how isolated they felt. In Kerala daughter is life, wealth for parents. A desperate parents now.

Asokan said he moved the first habeas corpus in the High Court in early January 2016 after Hadiya “went missing”. “She was in PFI custody without permission to speak to her parents. My petition forced them to produce her in court. But she refused to come with us,” he said. “Still I used to call my daughter every day, at least twice.”
In August 2016, he added, he returned to the court, seeking Hadiya’s custody, after reports of 21 Keralites fleeing to join the Islamic State. “When I called her sometime in July or August, I asked Akhila if she had plans to go to Syria to rear goats (a life that puritan Dammaj Salafi groups lead to recreate the Prophet’s era). She said they had plans to go but chose to stay back as friends suggested that she complete her course (homeopathy) first.”

Asokan said he was the son of a toddy tapper, the eldest of eight children, with the responsibility of five sisters. “I don’t know if you can picture that. I could clear my 10th only at the age of 19. Still I was a Communist, a member of the CPI, I used to read a lot. I wanted to study further, but my commitments made me join the Army after 10th.”
After he had ensured his sisters were educated and married, Asokan decided to have own family. “Akhila is my only child. We decided to have only one child as we wanted to give her the best. When she joined the homeopathy course, all her friends had to take loans but I had ready cash for her studies. When I joined as a peon in a defence court after retirement, my salary and the ATM card would be with her, she would handle them. I haven’t asked for the card back even now,” Asokan said, adding that he hadn’t gone to work since his legal fight began.

Asokan wondered whether this lack of interest in news, in “what was happening around her”, made Hadiya “gullible”.

Hadiya, a Kerala-based Hindu girl Akhila who embraced Islam and later married a Muslim man, reached Sivaraj Homeopathy Medical College in Salem on Tuesday after the Supreme Court allowed her to resume house surgeoncy/internship.

Dr G Kannan, the principal of Sivaraj Homeopathy College; the dean of the college as the guardian of Hadiya

Will there ever be a Guide to righteousness? For each their own. There was no book by the creator; All religious books, proverbs are the writers thought. There is no end for some people’s saga. In a way all of us are “gullible”.

An Unsuitable Boy

Did I really miss writing a review on this book by Karan Johar?

When you don’t work together, you don’t meet each other regularly. It’s as simple as that. When you meet, you get involved in each other’s lives. When you don’t meet, there is a distance. Then you work with other people. The separation creates a distance – the geographic separation and the professional separation create an organic distance which then starts being perceived as a problem. The ones you work with, you have a relationship. You stop working with them, the relationship goes on hold, it’s as simple as that. And you meet socially, it’s all superficial and upar-upar se, like how you meet people and say, ‘Great, Great’, but there is no depth in it.

Everything is not black and white. There is the concept of grey, which is where we all operate from actually.

Hearsay is one of the biggest problems. It’s the tone that is important. Text messages are the biggest undoing of human relationships because they never come with the tone. Without tone, things sound much worse than they are. The emotion is not there in the message, they are just words. Speak to people – confront.

Confrontation is such an underrated concept. But it’s so important in any relationship. Sit across and sort a problem out. Don’t insinuate, back off, stay away, sulk. It’s such a stupid waste of time. Always confront. Don’t allow things to fester. If you continue to suppress the emotion, it will explode in your face one day.

Gar baazi ishq ki baazi hai jo chaho laga do dar kaisa, Gar jeet gaye toh kya kehna hare bhi toh baazi maat nahin.

Falling in love is the most beautiful thing ever. Sometimes, not getting that love back can break your heart into tiny little peaces. But heartbreak can strengthen you to the core.

Don't know why you have named your book An Unsuitable not.. .you are amazing; cool..congratulations on your twins. Proud of you even more.

Rahi manwa dukh ki chinta kyun satati hai, dukh toh apna saathi hai, subah chhaon dhalti hai jaati hai, dukh toh apna saathi hai…..

If you make sadness your friend because it’s part of your life, then you’ll be able to deal with it.

Life

Not sure how and why this was missed, May be because it is a forward but I would like to treasure this - being apt:

When I got enough confidence, the stage was gone...

When I was sure of losing, I won...

When I needed people the most, they left me...

When I learnt to dry my tears, I found a shoulder to cry on...

When I mastered teh skill of hating, someone started loving me from the core of the heart...

And while waiting for light for hours when I fell asleep, the sun came out...

That's life!!

No matter what you plan, you never know what life has planned for you...

Success introduces you to the world..

But failure introduces the world to you...

Always be Happy!!!

Often when we slose hope and think this is the end..

God smiles from above and says,

"Relax Sweetheart, It's just a Bend, not the End!

Four temperaments & Personality Types

Four temperaments is a proto-psychological theory that suggests that there are four fundamental personality types, sanguine (optimistic, active and social), choleric (short-tempered, fast or irritable), melancholic (analytical, wise and quiet), and phlegmatic (relaxed and peaceful). Most formulations include the possibility of mixtures of the types.
