Mehdi: Nothing is Impossible By Roy Alexander

56th of 2020 was Mehdi: Nothing is Impossible By Roy Alexander.

Mehdi Fakharzadeh, was born in Iran, he came to the United States in 1948 for graduate school and earned his Master of Economics degree at BYU. While starting doctoral studies at the University of Washington, he met Sigrun Fridriksdottir, a student from Iceland, whom he married in 1953. Mehdi joined the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in 1955 and rest his history.

The first biggest challenge in his life was convincing his wife to marry him, and second was letting his father allow him to migrate to US.  His principles are simple and he believed that most great ideas are simple and one need to establish their own true principles and follow them. Mehandi's five powers to shore up our weaknesses and develop strength were:

  1. Honesty above all
  2. Put yourself in the other person's shoes
  3. Knowledge is power - Read, Listen, Discuss, Observe, Think
  4. Work is pleasure
  5. Never get discouraged

Mehdi adopted a winning attitude by:

  1. Setting Goals
  2. Viewing problems as opportunities
  3. Thinking we Can
  4. Rejecting fear
    • Recognizing faulty assumptions
    • Assuming responsibility
    • Accepting failure as temporary

According to him honesty pays dividend. Self knowledge and accepting yourself is important for it.

We have another book about him - Everything is possible.

His biggest regret later on was that he came late into this business and the secret for success to him was Work, desire and ambition. Life insurance is a unique product and selling life insurance is an unique experience.  While it is a great career for the right person, not everyone succeeds. The more you talk, the more money you make.  Best job is that of insurance agent. Over the course of a distinguished 60-year career he became top life insurance salesman and a legend in the field.

Mehdi, 97 years young, peacefully entered into eternal rest on October 13, 2019.
