Dharma & Karma a Balancing Act

 https://aeon.co/essays/how-ancient-dharma-stories-encourage-a-life-of-compassion

Happen to read this recently and was wondering on the latest happenings all around.

As we discuss realise, word goes through sea-saw. It's part and parcel of life.

Its Karma Vs. Darma; karmabhoomi vs. darmabhoomi; without realising, that the world is one, we are all one.

Am wondering what is happening with the world

  • With Ukkrain and Russia
  • With Srilanka
  • With China
  • With Middle east
  • and with India.

And then comes movies like Kashmir Files, wonder if it is a deliberate attempt to spark the hindu-muslim issue to divert nation's attention from other important national issues?

Hatriotism is being spread around .

Peer support group

Connectedness – Think about a time, when you were included in a community or group. How did it make you feel?

How did you feel being part of the group?

What did you gain out of it?

Peer support group brings in people with shared experiences or identity. Members use their own experiences to help each other. There are different types of Peer Support, but they all aim to:

  • bring together people with shared experience to support each other
  • provide a space where you feel accepted and understood
  • treat everyone's experience as being equally important
  • involve both giving and receiving support
There are two roles in peer support groups - someone who receives support and someone who gives support.

These are generally small groups where confidentiality can be managed.

Features of Peers Support:
  • Family and Cultural Experiences
  • Interpersonal Learning
  • Giving Back
  • Socialization
  • Universality
  • Guidance
  • Group Cohesiveness
  • Sharing in a safe space

Benefits of Peer Support Group

  • Meeting with people who speak your language
  • Learning from people who have been where you are
  • Sharing your experience with others
  • Learning about yourself
  • No Judgement
  • Boosting self-esteem/self-worth
  • Social skills
  • Hope and support
  • Sense of Humour
  • Cooperation
  • Helping yourself by helping others
Belonging is a natural human need. It relies on both conformity and individuality. Through belonging we develop new understanding of ourselves and the world around us. Our sense of identity is stronger when we belong.

Belonging and fitting in are different.

  • Fitting in is assessing a situation and becoming who you need to be, to be accepted Example Chameleon.
  • Belonging on the other hand does not require us to 'Change' but we can just 'Be' who we are. It is an innate human desire.
There are people who take all the new members under their wings and makes them feel good. You do unto others, what you want them to do to you.

Peer groups can be for various purposes like:

·       ·       Financial Independence
·       Post maternity
·       Mental Fitness
·       Manage and structure career fit into an organisation
·       Physical Fitness
·       Laughter Club - Chitchat
·       Manage home and work

Preface from Book: 21Day Magic Preface

"I was just like anyone else in the world until 20th March 2020, carrying on with the personal and professional routine. The afternoon news bulletin flashed a breaking, announcing a one day curfew in Chennai to control the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak that was freaking not just the city but the entire world. I had thought that was just a day off to chill at home, because it was anyway over the weekend. But then, it got extended for a week. I thought it to be a forced vacation that everybody could enjoy without having to leave the house. It was Eat–Play–Love routine. Only when People were told to stay home without telling a definite end for the lockdown, seriousness seeped in. News and awareness of COVID–19 flooded the media. I felt the strange, unusual and a different rhythm of life. “Stay Home, Stay Safe!” became the trending hashtag in social media. But truly, how many people can afford to stay home and have the means to survive? This adversely heightened everyone’s anxiety. I realized #PossibilityThinking was the only need of the hour and I decided to instil hope and positivity into as many lives as possible.

When I started reflecting on my own life and the discipline that I had brought into my life, I realized that wasn’t the same until few years back. Now I live like a Digital Lifestyle Monk. I had inculcated technology into my life in the best way, which has made my life much better and easier to handle. But I also knew it was not just that, but a holistic approach in the thought pattern and habits that have brought me here.

Preface

Based on my experiences and best practices in life, I quickly put together a content for an online training. I posted it on my Facebook page and announced it as “World’s first 5 AM webinar”. I trusted my instincts, and the number of people who turned in for the first batch was exactly what I expected. Soon the words got spread, and in the last six months, I had the opportunity to impact thousands of entrepreneurs, professionals, homemakers, and students.

The practices mentioned in this book might not be something new and which you haven’t heard before. But I have conceptualized the book practically, which is 100% possible for anyone in the world to put into action. I could say, this book could be a concentrated juice of 100 self-help books I have read throughout my life. It’s not just that there are some secret ingredients that make this book easily readable and doable. You should go ahead and read the book to know that."

Bad Vegan - Sarma Melngailis - Fame, Fraud, Fugitives

As I was having dinner, heard of Sarma Melngailis and Bad Vegan in Netflix, and she got me hooked, reminding me of Chitra Ramakrishna, not sure why I felt the connection right at the beginning. She is the  Founder of Pure Food and Wine and One Lucky Duck, both vegan raw food restaurants in New York City, is an American Chef and Business woman.

Was in limelight around the same time Chitra Ramakrishna was, like her on the Fortune cover as well, promised of fortunes and all good things, travelling around by a mysterious Yogi, who has finally disappeared. Anthony Strangis, who introduced himself as Shane Fox was her Himalayan Yogi, who promised her to take her to new state of being, to be happily every after.

In ‘Bad Vegan: Fame, Fraud, and Fugitives,’ Netflix presents a four-part docuseries, it involves not only avarice and deceit, but also alleged promises of pet immortality, claims of ethereal entities, and accused gaslighting by Anthony Strangis in order to essentially drain Sarma Melngailis’s life savings and savings account. In light of the fact that it has been alleged that he attempted to do something similar once before, with his then-wife Stacy Strangis in Florida, charmed them with words like “were reincarnated lovers who continued finding our way through time,”.  She felt guys like Anthony was a threat to the society, and it was her duty to support Sarma. No one really knew what Anthony actually did, though an ex friend of his too get featured in the documentary and says, he gambled heavily in Foxwoods resort. He made Will Richard contact her, and collect all details including passwords from her.

In 2017, Melngailis pleaded guilty to theft and fraud charges and spent four months behind bars, but is back with her Pet Leon.

Lalitham Sundaram

Lalitham Sundaram begins with a drone shot of the iconic Bandra-Worli Sea Link.  After introducing a family there, we move to Bengaluru. The landmark used to establish this new city is Vidhana Soudha. The next set of characters is introduced. Then the camera reaches Kochi with a bird’s eye view shot of the city and its metro route. As the title suggests, the film is definitely lalitham (simple). Lalitham Sundaram has Sunny (Biju Menon), Annie (Manju Warrier), and Jerry (Anu Mohan) as siblings, who are all busy with their respective lives.

Upon their dad’s (Raghunath Paleri) request, all of them visit their native for their mother’s death anniversary. As they land, we learn that the once close-knit siblings have now grown apart and are not really eager to be under the same roof. But to fulfill their mother’s last wish, they agree to spend a few days together.

During this stay, they disagree, fight, realise and reconcile. Manju Warrier’s Annie is a high-flying corporate professional and a mother of two. Her husband Sandeep, played by Saiju Kurup, is the husband of dreams. A retired Merchant Navy Captain, Sandeep is now the happy househusband. Manju Warrier does well in playing the bold and bossy Annie, who is unafraid of standing up to anyone, even if it’s her elder brother, Sunny. In another character’s words, she is the perfectionist who thinks she is leading a perfect life, only to learn later that she has her flaws as well.

Biju Menon as Sunny is a failed businessman, who carries with him a lot of insecurities and complexes. He has a troublesome relationship with his siblings and prefers to stay detached. The reasons for his insecurities are only revealed at almost the end of the film. Similarly, Jerry too has a backstory, the villain in which is Sunny.

All the realisations dawn only towards the final few minutes. Zarina Wahab’s character makes an occasional appearance, She is the doting mother, who passes away after battling cancer. Sudheesh as Rajesh is the local do-gooder, who is close to the family and has always wanted to be a part of it. Right from the moment, it is established that Rajesh is a loner, it’s easily predictable that he’ll get an emotional monologue about the importance of families and relationships. The film ends with the family burying all their differences and happily gorging on their mother’s favourite mutton curry.

Lalitham Sundaram is a pleasant film for the whole family to enjoy, with good songs, and a message to value relationships.

Manju posts in FB and I agree:

We made it simple, you made it beautiful. Thank you! ❤️

Decision Making - Depression - Anger - Grief

Decision Making - Depression - Anger - Grief. Wondering what the relation is?  Even I did. Yes indeed, One of the many reasons for Grief, is not making prompt decisions, and though many a time, when angry, we try to go to anger management classes, we seldom realise the root cause is Grief, that most probably has occurred because of wrong decisions, late decisions, or no decision.

Making quick and right decision is an art, and to master it, one need to have the right mindset. What is it? Limit your options, Draw a line between good and bad choices, listen to your gut feeling, Think of your time as money, Know that decisiveness grows with each decision, remember that indecision kills.

We our overpowered by Grief, which eventually makes us angry, Let's rectify the problem right when it is a bud and lead a joyful life.

Happy quick decision making!

Wealth & Abundance - Louise Hay

Money is the easiest think to demonstrate. How do you react to this statement? Do you believe it? Are you angry? Are you indifferent?

Very point of resistance. Open potential to receiving the flow of money. Stop resending the bills. A bill is an acknowledgement of our ability to pay. Bless with love your bills , kiss the cheques you write, you open the free flowing channel of abundance.

Your ability is to connect with the cosmic power. The universe is lavish and abundant. Expect life to be good and joyous and it will be.

Rejoice in others good fortune, each person is under of the law of their consciousness. There is a law of demand and supply. Demand comes first.

Visualisation is the ocean of abundance. Your flow of money is dependent of prosperous consciousness. Ocean is the abundance available. No matter how many people are there, there is plenty for everyone. Your container is your consciousness, and it can be exchanged for better and bigger.

'I am open and receptive to all the good and abundance in the universe', Say this daily.

Meditation, treatment, affirmation are mental deposits.

Dwelling on lack only creates more lacks, Gratitude will help you.

Open your consciousness to new ideas of money. Universe can only respond to what you believe.

Winning lotter do not bring about changing consciousness, except for a fluke chance, and therefore it do not last. Affirming, declaring, deserving, and allowing are the only ways to have. What you give in life comes back. Do you take stationery from office, time, or relationship? Do you have to sneak around and take it?

Change beliefs, and create new abundant thinking. Open your mind to money flowing into your life. To prosper use prosperity thinking.

'My income is constantly increasing, I prosper wherever I turn'.

There is so much in the world to share. The universe reward you everywhere you turn.

Thank you Life.

Use these affirmation with feeling. Law of attraction will bring good to life.

Employee to Entrepreneurship by Siddharth Rajsekar

Both need different skill sets, there are few things to be considered before you make the jump from being an Employee to Entrepreneurship. In some cases it is better of to be an employee. Entrepreneurship needs a different mindset. There are 12 things to consider before making the jump:

  1. Responsibility : Energy with which you start business matters, it should not be an escape route.
    1. Family
    2. Financial
    3. Time
  2. Timing :
    1. When to resign
    2. Is now the right time
    3. Can we do it in parallel
  3. Comfort Zone: It will be more uncomfortable, you have to be ready for it. Need buffer for 6 to 12 months.
  4. Learning New Skills: Other people are not working for you. You cannot apply same concepts
    1. New People skills
    2. Marketing Skills
    3. Sales Skills
    4. Business Management Skills
    5. Financial skills
    6. Networking Skills
    7. Communicating Skills
  5. Business Models
    1. Manufacturing
    2. Distribution
    3. Retail - Online and offline
    4. Services
    5. Franchise
    6. Aggregator - Uber, Swigy, FB, Air BnB
    7. Freedom Business Model - Knowledge business/Influence -
      • Product
      • Affiliate
      • Consulting/Coaching
  6. Passion: Love what you do, only then you will be able to sustain.
  7. Work Hours: Employee can have fixed hours, but Entrepreneurship needs whatever it takes (WIT). When a rocket takes off, there is lot of resistance, and it will take more time.
  8. Confidence: Burn the bridges. It needs insane level of confidence. Faith and Belief in yourself. You can't go with half hearted approach.
  9. Strong Mindset: Ability to face obstacles, and go through challenges.
  10. Validation of
    1. Business Ideas
    2. Target Market
    3. Product/Service
    4. Sales
  11. Milestones: Be clear on your milestones. Results
    1. 3 month - Say Rs. 50,000 p.m.
    2. 6 month - Replace your job income
    3. 12 month
  12. Money Management -
    1. Make
    2. Manage
      • Tax - 30% GST+IT
      • Wealth -10%
      • Charity -10%
      • Operations -20%
      • General - 30% - House hold
    3. Multiply
On a scale of 1 to 100 where do you stand? This is going to be where you need to work on. If you score before 50, stay in your job. If you are in between 50 to 75% you will need mentors. Don't keep jumping from one course to another.

Don't keep jumping like a butterfly. Follow one system/mentor. How do we know if our validation is right? We need to Trust our intuitions. There will be little voices and resistances. From family and well wishers. It's the confidence that will help break through. Shift your environment. You will be the average of 5 people you hand out with. Real growth when you focus on one, than putting your foot on both the boats. Right time is when you are confident and have validated the market. It will be different for different people. Watch the biography of successful entrepreneurs. Soak yourself with information.

5 am Club: Day 18 - Mindset/Skillset - Side Hassel

Got into Wipro, during last year of college – After few years, decided to quit, though did not know what to do next after working from 2005 to 2009.

·       Ask – Attitude – Skill – Knowledge, unsure if we have this.

·       Unaware what opportunities are available around – Growth should not stop because of Ignorance. Losing an opportunity, because of ignorance is sin.

·       Authors document what they have felt.  – When we read, we have lot of questions.

·       In US they have a blueprint for everything – we do not

·       Life is in our control, we need to satisfy others, we need to satisfy ourselves. Important Education, if we love a teacher, whatever subject the teacher teaches, the student will like, because they want to be a teacher.

Assembly Election Results - Crisis of Social Democracy

There is a worldwide crises in social democracy, but it is arguable more profound in India.

He also said," Democracy is the  worst form of government except for all the others".  Among different democratic systems, India had chosen "first past the post system"

The common thread in the recent election narrative was "Change vs. Continuity". BJP was the protagonist of continuity, and Congress and AAP of change. Continuity trumped over change. There was a desire for change, with no change, why? The Upma story, the reality of democracy.  BJP won 4/5 and AAP one.

Congress was a freedom movement as much in India as in Africa, then it became a liberal, nationalist -minded forces. Now it has been tarnished by corruption scandals and nepotism and undermined by a lack of ideology. Out of the embers of a non-dynastic Congress, an effective centre -left party could still be reborn.  Marxist was the hard left.

Though many today, just say right and left, Left is not just one, and not all are left. But now it looks like nothing is left of congress.

Wondering what Prashanth Kishore is thinking, and what would be his next move.

CR - Real life Corporate Movie

Chitra Ramkrishna sent to Judicial custody till March 28... but where is Ravi Narain ?? Sources say he is in London & was interrogated via video conferencing by CBI hence his arrest has been delayed.

Am reminded of Bhipasa Basu, in the movie corporate, which has stuck to me for a long time.

Wishing and praying that she alone not suffer, and truth be brought to light soon.

I think most important thing that a women should be taught is not to endure and take upon self everything with regret, but to speak out.

She might be wrong, but my heart goes to her, may be because she is a woman.

She should not compromise on her values, she is the one who spoke of Darma, and need for data and analysis and not accepting things blindly, but being quick to decision making.

What is making her take the decision to not speak out? Or has she already?

Do Epic Shit - Ankur Warikoo

Do Epic Shit - Ankur Warikoo was my 24th of 2022. Finished this before the earlier review, but typing took time, though the book was smaller, wanted to note few things.  It was an mazing book, easy read, for a snippet:

Part 1 Success (And Failure)

Time goes away and leaves us with only one of these two things: regret or results. You are what you do. Back your commitments with action.

Consistency + Authenticity is the magic formula to crack the content game.

There is temporary discomfort in doing the unconventional. There is permanent discomfort in living life as a template.

Part 2 Habits

Most important skills today that are hardly taught:

  • Humour
  • Story telling
  • Managing Money

We know others through their actions. We know ourselves through our thoughts. When others talk, are we listening to them, or to our mind telling us what to say?

Your sleep is important

Part 3 Awareness

Emotional debt has killed more people than financial debt ever will. The debt of never saying 'I love you', to your parents. The debt of never apologizing to the friend who was always there for you. The debt of never living for your happiness, because you were busy pleasing others.

If unsure between two choices, picking both is almost always the wrong response.

Fear has led to more procrastination than laziness ever will.

To find meaning in your job is beautiful. Your job being the only meaning of life is scary.

To not have a plan and be okay with it is the best plan. It will take everything to get to that point. That right there is liberating. It is freedom.  That is being at peace with where you are in life, with who you are in life.

Part 4 Entrepreneurship

Skills can be taught. Attitude is really hard to teach. While finding the right people for your team, it always helps to pick the ones who embody the culture of your team. Even if they lack the skills, their attitude will help them grow. An optimistic, driven individual will figure out a way to learn more. A successful skilled individual will struggle hard to grow if they see pessimism in every possibility. Attitude compensates for skill .

Entrepreneurship is the most brutal way to discover yourself.

The toughest skill as a leader is to be calm during the toughest moments. Show people who they can be.

Part 5 Money

Taxes, Inflation, Compounding, Liquidity, are all important. Money is a medium of transaction. It is important. When it becomes an emotion, that is when it consumes us.

The only two assets that I perhaps built over years was my network and my content. None of which I had to pay for, with money. It was bought through time.

Part 6 Relationships

All problems are interpersonal relationship problems. It begins with having the right relationship with the most important person - You.

Every problem in this world can be traced back to a point of miscommunication. There is a big difference between saying Thank you and feeling Thankful.

Nothing teaches you better than teaching others.

Your kindness might cause your pain, a sense of betrayal, heartburn, Be kind anyway.

Empathy cannot be taught, you are either born with it or not.

Respect -) Empathy -) Sympathy

Doing beautiful job -) Be at par-) Pity

Respect comes from conduct and not title.

Don't show up to every argument you are invited to.

Your parents are first humans. Then parents.

When someone says, "You will never know how I am feeling", remind yourself that they are telling you life's most fundamental truth.

Know what is your superpower? One thing that always keeps you going, when nothing seems to be going right? Not passion or carrier of your choice.

It could be discipline, commitment, simple approach towards life, attention to details, friendly demeanour, athleticism, rebellious nature.

Take that armour with you, and you will not be defeated. The powerful things that lie within us are often the easiest to overlook.

Relationships - Social, Family, Partner :

Career/Money/  - Service, Wealth, Mastery

Health -  Chemical (what you put in your body), Physical, Emotional (Learning to manage your emotion is the foundation to manage your life)

Identity - Is the Intersection - with Values, Mission, Authentic expression - Foundation

We have had experiences, opportunities, stresses - learning to balance and flow, maintaining your value, mission and authenticity - and creating amazing areas in your life is the key.

Each of us have our own story. There are no mistakes in what we attract, only learnings. Understand what to carry into your future, to get a different results.

If you don't learn your lesson, with the first experience, it will keep coming to you again.

Passion of loved one, falling sic, loosing job, failures and successes are examples of experiences.

You can't mess this up, here is why:

  1. Learning tool to see the balance in life/Law of Polarity: - Every experience comes with positive and negative. There is equal amount. What you perceive, is the polarised state of emotion. Sometimes you need to go to the event couple of times, to understand it. You create emotional baggage in yourself, that stops you see the event and both sides to it. It creates fear in the future. Ask question and learn to ask questions - Once you realise learn you can changes stresses into gratitude. Feedback mechanism, will help us correct our perception. Best from your own physiology. If you focus only on negative, you will be angry.
  2. Nothing to forgive/Seeing life's synchronicities :- If you go back and see events, that has caused pain and feel someone needs to ask you forgiveness, go back and look at the event. There is no forgiveness but only a 'Thank You' for teaching the lesson. There is nothing to blame, nothing to forgive. There is present in each movement. Are there people in you life whom you are angry on? Goal is to remove baggage from your past and capitalise on that. Don't let anything stop you from living the full expression. All of us have had unique life experiences. Because we all have different sets of values, thinking, drives, mission. It's what makes you unique. Each judge and filter experience based on their values. In relationships, we have stress. That is why relationships are for. Filter world through values - you will be authentic. As you ask these questions of the past, carries something, that helped you pull nuggets of your wisdom, which helped you create your vision and mission. The patterns in your life have a connection. There is synchronicities, that help you move into the future. Dig it and release the baggage. You will feel lighter, clearly, and healthier. Fan of asking opinion. More inspiration and less desperation. If you don't learn the lesson first time, it will repeat and it will take more time for you to correct. See full quantum of events and move with grace and poise. It will help you going. You will be less sad, angry and emotional.
  3. The importance of dissolving emotional baggage/asking quality questions :- Fix body - nutrition, mind and body connection, if you don't have emotional stability, it will have physiological issues, that will manifest into diseases. Body's feedback to what you carry around. It effects, what you feel and look. Aging process is faster. Dissolve emotional baggage and your physical illness will go away.
Go through experiences of life - turn negatives into positives, be Thankful, dissolve emotional baggage. When you learn to do that, your vision open up, there is brain voice, you will cut off future anxieties and fears. Own your past, and fear of future will start dissolve, as you will understand, every experience will have both sides, and learn from it, dissolving fear and anxieties. Possibilities you have for your life becomes greater. You will know which path to follow. What comes to you will serve you. You will take ownership. Be confident of your self. You will navigate, gather data, take time, see them asking quality questions for full quantum. As you move into the future, you will have more energy to attract thing you want with confidence and clarity. As you dissolve your past, you have better vision for your future.

You will have more balance in each area of your life. If you have a clarity of you who are in the middle. You do this you will have your identity, will help find your mission which is unique. You can flow through life. Learn to navigate through life, by being in the present and knowing each moment serves.

There is a free Synergy call you can have with Dr. Dave Tuck, if you need some help.

This is your life, take control and be your captain. Question is do you like your life? There will be people who get in and get our of your life in this journey. Be yourself.

Agni Natchathiram

Another coming of the age film for that time from Mani Ratnam a timeless masterpiece from  Ilayaraja too with amazing songs. A family drama, from Kartihik, Prabhu; Jayachitra, Sumitra; Amla, Nirosha; Tara  the comedy track between V K Ramaswamy & Janagaraj helped hold the film together.

After Mouna Ragam (1986), the next script that Mani Ratnam wrote was Agni Natchathiram but Nyakan was released before.

In Madras, half-brothers Gautham and Ashok are the sons of a senior government official Vishwanath IAS. Gautham's mother is Vishwanath's first wife Susheela, and Ashok's mother is Vishwanath's second wife Kamala. Both Gautham and Ashok inappropriately take out the anger they have towards their father on others, and they display open antipathy towards each other.

Gautham, a trainee IPS officer, meets the Commissioner's daughter Anjali, and they slowly become lovers. After graduating from the police academy, Gautham is appointed as Assistant Commissioner in the same city. Around the same time, Ashok meets a mysterious girl, and they, too, slowly become a couple. Meanwhile, Vishwanath is appointed the head of an inquiry commission to probe a nefarious factory owner Chidambaram.

One night, Ashok and his friends run into Gautham and Anjali, and one of Ashok's friends teases Gautham. Gautham soon arrests Ashok's friend on a trumped up charge, abusing his police authority. Enraged, Ashok and his gang throw stones at Gautham's house, accidentally injuring Susheela. The next day, Gautham arrests Ashok after provoking him into attacking him. As Vishwanath is out of town, Susheela helps Kamala bail Ashok, but then offers snide unsolicited advice about raising her children to be law-abiding. Meanwhile, Chidambaram tries to bribe Vishwanath multiple times, but is rebuffed. Irked, he orders a hit on Vishwanath.

On the day when Ashok's sister Mallika is meeting a prospective groom's family for a matchmaking ceremony, Vishwanath fails to arrive, causing the groom's family to question the seriousness of the marriage between Kamala and Vishwanath. Enraged, Ashok goes to Vishwanath's house and berates him, only to realise that his paternal grandmother has died; Gautham throws him out. Later, Ashok learns that his girlfriend, too, comes from a broken family. The Commissioner learns of Gautham's romance with Anjali and doubts his monogamy, based on his father's behaviour.

Mallika runs into Gautham and Anjali on the same commuter train. Gautham ends up protecting her from a bunch of ruffians (hired by Chidambaram) harassing her, and he and Anjali accompany her home safely. Mallika addresses Gautham as her elder brother, but before he can respond, Ashok arrives and throws him out. Another altercation occurs at a wedding in which both exchange words. The next day, they get into a huge brawl in public. Vishwanath berates them both, lamenting his public humiliation at his sons' behaviour.

While Vishwanath is leaving his office, he is run over by a truck driven by one of Chidambaram's thugs and becomes comatose. Mutual fear brings the families closer as both Susheela and Kamala wait by his bedside. Chidambaram arranges for Vishwanath's murder in the hospital. When his thugs attack, Gautham and Ashok work together to foil the assassination attempt by switching to the ambulance that Vishwanath was in. The next day, a bandaged Vishwanath is brought into the commission's office by the brothers to submit evidence of Chidambaram's crimes. Chidambaram is arrested, and the brothers high five each other.

Vishwanath and IAS officer having two wives, and the second not accepted by society, did film's like this justify and promote such actions? I wonder.

The Kashmir Files

In the war of ideology, always the innocents gets killed the politicians and religious propagators call themselves the awakened souls and survives. They are never on the battlefield - give remote directions, letting the common people suffer.

As Anupam Kher mentioned at 1:39:50 “Hum sab ki devi Maa Saraswati (Sharda), bas usiki upasana karo, jab kohi nahin hoga, jab sab taraf andhera hoga, thab wohi tumhe raah dikaayegi”

With telecom engineer BK Ganjoo’s murder in a rice barrel, Nadimarg massacre where 24 Hindu Kashmiri Pandits were killed by militants dressed in combat uniforms, or defamatory slogans. the film recreates these real life incidents and we see them through the eyes of an ageing nationalist, Pushkar Nath Pandit (Anupam Kher), his four best friends and his on-the-fence grandson, Krishna (Darshan Kumaar). Oblivious to his past, Krishna’s quest for truth forms the story.

The Kashmir Files begins with nations common interest Cricket being played, and the boy being beaten for taking the name of Sachin. And there is a rally with the slogan 'Convert, Run Or Die'. Cry's for 'Azadi', and Anupam Kher with his face painted blue and chanting Namasivaya, getting home children on cycle.

15 minutes into the movie, we have the name and then an old Mithun, collecting paper cuttings of Kashmir incidents, latest being 6 year old killed and wife consoling 'Sabh teak ho jayega' and he telling to his friends 'Exodus nahi Genocide', and this he keeps repeating again and again. Krishan who comes to Kashmir with ashes when asked what he knows about Kashmir, he speaks of what he has heard from Radhika Menon, who speaks of Azadi and how Kashmir was never part of India and though there is a Government here, the system is theirs.  Then there is the yummy Kashmiri food, which they discuss,  Krishna's mother Sharadha used to make.

Back into 1989, Anupam Kher and Mithun are in a market, and for payment made in INR Gandhi, they return Jinnah's currency. Gold medallist educated Kashmiri Pandit, don't get ration, and boys spread newspaper asking Pandit's to return. The news of Justice Ganjoos killing, 4 IAF men killing, and the flag of India being replaced by that of Pakistan.  Kashmir CM speaks of Secularism, nationalism in Delhi,  and says, we are free and will do what we want, and suspends the Governor. Governor tries to get help from Delhi, but with no much support.

Blame on the government - Political power is needed to change the fate of the nation. Anupam Kher says, Kashmiri Pandit is the minority in Kashmir and request Krishna to not get into Politics. After Jan 1990, many left Kashmir. Sharada and family, it was told to children died in an accident.  In flash back, they show how it was announced in the mosques, how they needed to make Kashmir a Pakistan nation with Hindu Women's with the slogan 'convert, run or die'. They show how terrorists second attack is always hospital, as they need to protect their people injured in the fight.  People try to flee, taking the minimum needed, thinking they would be able to return in few days. Islamic Republic Party of Kashmir is the motto of Kashmir. Police fight against them,  Reporters and media people are killed in Kashmir, there is info war, the film skims through multiple issues — Digs at JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University), media likened to terrorist ki rakhail, selective reportage of foreign media, Indian Army, political warfare, abrogation of Article 370 and mythology and ancient history of Kashmir — all at once. Mithun's question resonates - Not even a single KP took a gun. Then Anupam Kher struggled to eat a biscuit at night, now they have desserts. The Ashes Krishna brings to Kashmir is that of his grandfather Anupam Kher. The four friends with Krishna, go to the old house with ashes. Then Krishna goes to meet the person, whose address was given to him by Radhika Menon. He says, Nehru and Bajpai wanted people to love, but present PM wants the people to be afraid of him.  He also tells Krishna that it was the Indian Army who killed his mother and brother. Mithun shows, Kashmir killing, politics, Genocide file to Krishan. He realises that it was the terrorist dressed as Indian army who killed his mother and sister Siva. Mithun says real Justice is when Kashmiri's want to be back in Kashmir.

Anupam Kher as a man pining for his lost home, is outstanding, Pallavi Joshi is equally effective, Chinmay Mandlekar and Mithun Chakraborty are competent in their respective roles. Agnihotri  resorts to shock over subtlety, reopening old wounds. The film gets lost in the clutter somewhere and the film feels  long with chaos. Not Love, hope or peace but current PM of India whom people Fear and hate is the biggest unifier. Vivek Agnihotri  gets the politics and militancy to the forefront. The trauma of being torn away from your home looms in the background.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s romantic drama Shikara got flak for not being the untold story of Kashmiri Pandits as it was pitched to the audience. It however, got you closer to their culture, pain and state of hopelessness.  Innumerable films have been made on Indian History recently by Bhansali and Ajay Devgan as well, and in most of them, invaders were Muslims, who were portrayed as Villains.

When 4 lakhs Hindus were expelled that date was 19 January 1990, on that day Vishwanath Pratap Singh was the Prime Minister at the Center, heading Janata Dal coalition government running with the support of  BJP's, Atal Bihari Bajpai.  At that time, separatist leader Mufti Muhammad Saeed was the home minister of the country whose daughter is Mehbooba Mufti who later on became partner with BJP to form a coalition government in Kashmir.  Then the governor of Jammu Kashmir was BJP leader Jagmohan.

"Be it any ideology, faith or suffering, voices being curtailed seems to be a common nightmare. Kashmir, a lost paradise has been grappling with humanitarian crisis, cross border terrorism, separatist movements and fight for self-determination. Once prosperous and multi-cultured, now a disputed territory that struggles to stabilise itself amidst the constant tension, its wounds run deep."

Right to dissent and opposing views find a place in the movie. Every truth has two sides.

I have watched The Kashmir Files in Kerala, this movie is running in the theatres of Kerala, but not houseful. I asked a friend of mine, she said, she would not like to take her young son to this movie, and will be watching it alone. It's individual choice. Lot of movies in theatres and OTT have had protests, and in spite of being released there were propaganda. Of late one was Tandav, in Amazon prime, I did watch that too. I don't think politicians should be involved in move and religion, unless its their passionate profession - plan B, and should stop rumours.   Am tired of reading messages on how the movie is banned in Kerala.

To resolve differences its important to acknowledge pain.  Why were they killed? This answers is important than the number of victims. Because if the cause exists then it will occur again.
