Madurai Meenakshi, Rameshwaram and Dhanuskodi

Mid April, soon after Vishu sadhya after seeing Kani, visiting Thrikakara temple and clicking pics around lotus, had the second innings to Madurai Meenakshi, Rameshwaram and Dhanuskodi; with Geeta and Amma. Geeta had reached the previous night. Sky was beautiful as we drove towards Madurai

If last time it was the temple festival at Rameshwaram this time it was at Madurai - Chithirai festival. For the unity and amity of Saiva- Vishanava. Temple was crowded, and there were restrictions. We reached Madurai around 5 pm, and was at the temple by 6.

There are four big Rajagopuram like this, as the North, East, South and West end, because of the crowd, vehicle had to parked at some distance and we got in from the south entrance. The Minakshi-Sundareshwarar Temple has a spectacular architecture with spellbinding murals all around. Amma was running ahead in a hurry to get darshan, but it was the exit. Geeta got into the entry queue. We were in different lane. So she went ahead. When we reached the checking counter, I had to surrender my mobile. Amma was smart enough not to carry anything. I had my bag with me. At the entrace, the bag bipped. They checked, it was the umbrela. They asked me to get out and keep it at the deposit counter, and Amma had to move forward. By the time I kept and reached the entrace, there was a chaos there, an old lady was unwilling to deposit her mobile in the counter outside, and was adamant that she would want to enter the temple. With the huge crowd, the lady police checking were dead tired. Realising that it was useless fighting with the elderly lady, she said, go to hell and do whatever you want, let her in. Finally I got in. At the entrace, could not see either Amma or Geetha. The queue was very long - and there were different ones - free, Rs. 50 and Rs. 100. I took tickets for all for Rs. 100, and started looking for amma, in all the queues. Not finding her in any of the three queues and having walked outside and inside I was worried, and informed the police. Did meet Geeta in between the search. Felt sorry for the lady police. It was an uphill task for them to manage the crowd. After three round, wondering where she would be, if she had money - finally heard her calling - Meera. Ah! what  relief it was, but then it was the beginning of a long wait in the queue. Even inside there was a zig-zag of queue, and we had to almost take a 'U' turn - did see her enter into the Meenakshi temple when we were at this end of the 'U' - but was not aware then, that there was another queue inside. After being in queue for almost an hour, got Meenakshi Dharshan, went to Shiva Dharshan - which was amazing - with Deeparadana, and we were right in the front. We could see the hall that has a thousand pillars. We kept going around to find the South gate. I collected the umbrella and mobile - Geeta and the driver was waiting out. The moon was shining beautiful next to the Gopuram, but could not click a pic of it.

Chithirai Thiruvizha or Thirukalyanam Festival is the best time to visit the temple. Located on the southern bank of the Vaigai River in Madurai, this Hindu temple is an epitome of classic architecture with murals so gorgeous that it will take your breath away. Thankfully the walk in the queue was not so tiring, as we were Thankful that we were not lost and also were admiring the beauty of the sacred pool with a golden lotus .

Stay was at the TTDC hotel. We woke up next morning and left for Rameshwaram, it was Hanuman Jayanthi, and auspicious day with the place too being significant. Before that A brief about the Madurai festival: Lord Kallazhagar starts from Azhagar kovil in the form of Kallar  and reaches Madurai on Pournami (Full Moon day). Here he steps into river Vaigai in his Horse Vaganam. Lakhs of devotees flock to river Vaigai to see this event. "Ethir Sevai" festival is celebrated on the day before Alagar steps into river Vaigai. It is a tradition for the people of Madurai to welcome Alagar. After this event Azhagar is taken to Mysore Veera Mandapam on decorated Anantharayar Palanquin. The next morning Azhagar in the form of Kallar returns to Azhagar kovil in ‘Poo Pallakku'(Palanquin decorated with flowers)

Then had a beautiful drive to Rameshwaram. Reached there by 12 pm, passing through the famous Pampan bridge of Chennai Express fame.

Beautiful view, but as we were running out of time, thought of clicking pictures when returning, just had a view. Amma wanted to get down, in front of the temple, before reaching the hotel. I had a skip of my heartbeat, reminded of the previous day run around. But somehow she agreed to sit. Me and Geeta went to the room - the view from there was breath-taking.

We had a dip in the Bay of Bengal, and reached the temple with an intention to take bath from the water of 22 wells. This temple too was very crowded even during the afternoon, and we were at the wrong gate. We were told that we need to be at the north gate to have the well water bath. On reaching there - Union people were behind us, saying they would help, though earlier reluctant, it was a blessing, as we could complete the process soon. Three of us, kept handing over the bag's to one another like passing the parcel, as we were blessed with the water of the river.

Normally Siva temples remain closed in the afternoon, and they had to close it - but the union member - took us through the temple, with special and closed doors, unfortunately - we had literally bribed him, and he had taken it. Else we would not have been able to finish it on time. The architecture of this temple too was amazing, but even here camera's were not allowed, and we did not carry it too, as we had to take dip in the water.

Evening went to the Panchamuki (5 faced)  Hanuman temple, where we saw the floating stones - which would float only under certain circumstances. There is also a 20 feet tall Hanuman statue. From there we went to Dhanuskodi, after a halt at the temple were Vibishan's patabishagam was conducted. It was a beautiful view.

Where are we  heading....???๐Ÿ˜ฑ

To the last land of the incredible India๐Ÿ’ชA road where we can see both the Bay of Bengal and the Indian ocean ๐ŸŒŠ on both the sides...๐ŸŒŠ

Dhanuskodi ๐Ÿ‘ป- the Ghost Town - the whole town was abandoned after the massive hit of tsunami in the year 1964. It is open to the public only from 6am to 5pm. The tourists can't stay at this place as there is no electricity and only the locals stay here. The government has banned any type of construction here & at night you really see the lights✨ of Srilanka๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ฐ...So you can imagine how wild is this place๐ŸŽƒbut it's a must visit destination ๐Ÿ˜Ž with ruines from Tsunami, and some people not ready to leave the land.

The drive to Dhanuskodi was amazing, with the Bay of Bengal on the one side, and the Indian Ocean on the other, with the light house.

One could see the difference in water, and view both sun set and moon rise. It was so crystal clear - and the full moon night. There was a new Ashoka Stamp at the tip - but we could not enter there as it was almost 5.30 when we reached, and it was closing, though we could see from a couple of feet away. Inspite of warning from police, Amma kept on with her dare task of getting into the water on one side which was sloppy and dangerous. Then we spend sometime on the West side, viewing the sun set - as it was over, there was the moon rise in the east. Police were behind us again, and the place was almost empty - we did not spend much time in the ghost land. The drive back was amazing. Back at Rameshwaram, we did few purchasing, and then went to the room, kept gazing at the moon, clicking pics and videos.

Went out for morning walk at 4 am. It was cloudy, so though could see full moon setting, and the first ray of sun - the rise was delayed, though we could see. By the time we left the hotel, it was raining very heavily. We could not stop at the Pampan bridge, but it made the drive soothing. Return trip was through Munnar - with clouds around - it was beautiful and memorable. Amma too enjoyed.

The drive via Munnar with drizzling rain in the background, as we returned brought a soothing end to that trip which was a bonus unexpected.

We were to have dinner with Mili as it was her birthday - but reached late. By the time, we all reached The Bridge it was past 9 pm. Nevertheless, all is well that ends well.

Next day went to Mili's home, and walked across the new beautiful pathway. While returning from Potta dropping Amma - also met Ramya. Next day went to Ernakulam market, courtesy Madhuman, Marine drive and Fort Kochi; and then it was time for Geeta to return and for us to get back into routine.

Steps to Finding Your Niche:

1) Pick One Big Problem That You Want to Solve – Business/Career/Health/Money/Relationship/Creativity

2) Pick Your Micro- Niche Segment

3) Pick a Method/Tool to Solve that problem

4) Validate Your Niche Using the 5P System – Passion/Problem/Persona/Potential/Payment

5) Convert this into a Mission/Purpose

Your Riches is in your Niche. 5 P’s should align. Passion should solve problem, laser focus on persona, where there is potential in the market and there are people willing to pay for it.

Example of a Mission Statement – Elevator Pitch

Hi,  I’m Siddharth Rajsekar. I’m the founder of the Internet Lifestyle Hub. I’m on a mission to help one million people become digital coaches so that we can transform the education and employment system to live a lifestyle of freedom.

What is done to achieve your goal, and the benefit is your mission. How you will achieve your goal.

The Strangest Secret - Earl Nightingale

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4s1Fyh4HAg

  1. When young, all want to successful. Only 5% achieve success. 'Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal.'
  2. Opposite of courage is conformity. Conformity ....people acting like everyone else, without knowing why or without knowing where they are going.
  3. Some people seem to have a magic touch, because of goals. What would happen if the Ship starts from the harbor without knowing where to go?
  4. "We become what we think about.“
  5. Worry brings fear and fear is crippling. Don’t worry. Be calm and Cheerful. Don’t let petty things annoy you.
  6. He is where he is because, that is exactly where he really wants to be, regardless of whether he likes it or not.

30 Day Action Ideas For Putting The Strangest Secret To work for you

Make a test to last 30 days. We can achieve nothing without paying the price.  Each of us succeeds in life to the extent of our ability to sell, It’s yours for the asking. What is the price? It is many things:

I.   Understand emotionally as well as intellectually that 'You become what you think of '

II.  Imagine-Cut away all fetters from the mind and permitting it to soar as it was divinely designed to do.

III. Courage : Use all your courage to force yourself to think positively on your own problem. Set a definite and clearly defined goal for yourself and let your marvellous mind think about your goal from all possible angles, you are standing in the middle of "Acres of Diamond".

IV. Save 10% of what you earn

V. Action Write on a card what you want to be - Ideas are worthless unless we act on them.

The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing – Walt Disney

30 Day test: Every one want something and is afraid of something.

Write on a card 'What you want more than anything else.' Make sure it is a single goal, and clearly written. You become what you think about. Second, Stop thinking about what it is you fear.

Take control of your mind for 30 days. Maintain cheerful positive outlook.  Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek and you will find.

Asses where you are after 30 days, repeat the test, repeat it again, untill the flood gates of abundence flow into you.

Post Pandemic Graduate - CA P V Pattabhiram

  • Keys to Goal Setting
  • It must be your goal
  • Write it down
  • Break it down –

Time - Immediate, Short term, medium term, longterm.

Type - A. Cash/Finance : Service, Wealth, Mastery

B. Relationship: Social, Family, Partner (Personal)

C. Health - Chemical, Physical, Emotional

  • Performance, not outcome goals
  • Vary your approach
  • Just do it; don't give up.
  • Use momentous occasions
  • Keep it SMART  - Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-Bound
Rate Self in each and every area of your life 1 to 10 ; Total 80; Draw a circle - 4 diameter - 8 sectors -
  • Health
  • Happiness
  • Relationship
  • Time
  • Personal Growth
  • Career
  • Finance
  • Contribution

Our life score, The total we give us in each of these areas.

By default human are goal seekers. We are all human, our minds will wander and mindlessly we will compare and want to have and be what others are. When this happens mindfully come back to you. Affirm that, 'I am grateful and happy for what I am and I am open to receive abundance in all ways'. Do not strengthen negative or comparative thoughts. Reframe and Redirect. This is powerful. This is to reconnect with the beautiful unique you. Luke Coutino.

Goal Setting – Exercise - GPS

Introduce GPS – Guide, shows us the location, help us find the destination, Goal-Progress-System; Global positioning system.

Each of the areas – write down:

i) where are you now? - Starting Point

ii) where you want to be - Destination

iii) What is the route to the destination?

Exercise: Write on a paper – all the negative things that stops your growth. Will we be happy if these things go out of our life?

Procrastination, lack of planning, wrong company, identify them. Fear - her sister is Doubt/hesitation, brother – overwhelm; relatives dream stealers, Challenge – if you meet them , it means you are leaving your comfort zone. Dream stealer (DS) – not bad intention, their dreams have left them, only you can develop a vision for your life. Be clear and committed of what you want to do. Then you will not have to fight.  DS  - be humble.

Close your eyes, keep the paper in your hand. Deep and slow inhale and exhale. Identify what is stopping you from progress. Remove them from the root.  Now slowly open your eyes. crush them in your hands, Burn these, flush it out, and come back.

Calculated risk – is good, you know where you want to go, and ready to come out of comfort zone.

The minute these are in your awareness – they lose their power. What version of your journey do you want to interpret?

You don’t lose when you fall down, you lose when you don’t rise up again.

Method to set goals in a meaningful way – 3 year timeline. Because goals must have aspirational – get you excited and nervous.

When we judge we term as good/bad, realistic/unrealistic – It is not the size of the dog in the fight, but the fight of the dog – It is in the energy.

To Each their own goals will make sense.

Make your own KPI's

How to Stay on Course

Winners and losers, both can have the same goals. The difference is how they go after their goals.

MINDSET + ACTION Plan

IEG - Implementation is the Game.

Science of struggle and success:

When human started truanting on the planet in small numbers, nature was trying to protect us, and keep up with the first layer of brain - reptilian brain. - Primary action of it is keep you safe and comfortable. Action was to fight with weaker opponent or run away to stronger opponent. It also came up with significant task - To keep focus on the environment around you.  It keeps focusing on danger or threat. It is working in us constantly, and control 95% of our life, that works on automation. This is the brain that controls your behaviour and habits. Brain not only focus on physical danger/trauma or stress, but also the emotional/mental stress or trauma.

Something's have happened in the past, but is still triggering in your brain. Morning no thoughts - and couple of seconds, it start coming.

Reptilian brain focus on emotional trauma and put you back in the zone of safety/comfort and survival. It's job is to keep you safe and comfortable. So it is said, come out of your comfort zone.

There is another layer of brain called mammalian brain. They stay together, one guarding when other is asleep. This is emotional brain that produces hormones. Gives fuel,  either procrastinates or is proactive. Responsible for action. Releases about 80 different chemicals in our body - life fuels in the car. If you put sub standard fuel in Ferrari what will happen? Some chemicals are:

Stress hormones - Adrenaline and cortisone. If it is too much in the body -  it goes down, everytime a problem is solved.  If feel you are causing problem when your self esteem and self worth is low. How many of you are on your own, keep thinking of an event from your past? Because that memory is somewhere deep down in your reptilian brain, thinking of that danger. Like a smoker who wants another cigarette after nicotine level goes down every time. A problem arise, you solve, hormones go down, and start feeling low - so start showing the worst case scenario before you.

Problems take you to survival mode, and you struggle. We are addicted to this cycle, so we are unable to change our old habits.

DOSE is the substandard fuel in the Ferrari. Everytime these 4 hormones (DOSE) are less in the body - you fall sick. You need to turn it into auto pilot mode for success. DOSE stands for Dopamine, Oxytocin, Seretonin, Endorphins. Successful people are those who are able to sove the problems. Bigger problem you solve, better the success. Your life will not be problem free untill you are in the cemetery. You can overcome problem, if you have right kind of DOSE in the body, and once one is solved, there is another that would come up.

Another layer of brain - new and young is neocortex. Responsible to have goals in life. It has desires - called CEO of the brain, decision making, creative. It comes us with solutions , can think differently, and is superior.

If CEO sets the goal, and team decides not to cooperate, company will not be able to achieve the result, if there is a discord.

Very Important - Example - We set goals, during the first week of January. Think: Reptilian brain - Father, Mammalian brain - Mother, and Neocortex brain is - Child. Child will  ask, are you okay to help me to mother? Mother say okay tell us what you want? Child say - Energy. Father is watching mother and child. He asks mother what is happening? Mother tells him child's pan. Father says okay - but seems reluctant. Two weeks strong. Father is seeing the struggle, he says how initial excitement is and wants to put back in safety mode. Mother is pulled between Father and son, with instances from past being repeated, and the question mark in brain put by father, start getting paranoid and start releasing stress hormones. Son start waking up with drag, think of drooping out from goal in the third week of jan. Father again goes to the mother asking I don't understand why it is needed, says this is not the focus, if you want carry on, I am not with you. Mather is fully into paranoid. A&C released. Mother takes back struggle and survival.

Which week do you drop your goals.

Only way to get this in order is working on Reptilian brain, release past stored, and allowing it to connect with the neocortex. Bridge is connected.I/10th of Iceberg is above the surface and 9/10th is below the surface. What we see in front of you is what is above the iceberg.

Below the iceberg -

the root - Upto 7 years - experiences - Reptilian brain is developed.

Stems - mammalian brain - emotional brain

RAS - Reticular Activation System - Bundle of nerves sitting between reptilian brain and Mammalian brain - Inner composs. - It works as a magnet to attract opportunities to make more money and have a better life.  - Don't understand the difference though between positive and negative.

When we spend time, money or energy on something, your attention goes there more. When you get something for free, we do not cherish it.

RAS is the gatekeeper in the brain. It stops the strangers. - Our Goals are strangers, with it there is a potential threat. There is a good news and bad news. bad news is this is designed when you were 7 years old, we are in a loop of creating same experiences. Good news is  neuro plastic. i.e. it has ability to constantly change. It will go through the same cycle, unless you break the loop, and it can be broken by being a Life long Learner.

How do you know brain is changing for good?

Life

Long

Learner

You feel more:

Energy

Focus

Inspired

Productive

You feel worthy, you break the loop and your focus is on solution. It is now moved from Survival,

How you create habit and how it is broken

Put together your hands, folded, which thumb is up - right or left? try again, its same. Intentionally put the other. Are you feeling comfortable? No. Why? Because - as child you are used to - Your Reticular Activation System is used to it.

You might have constant intention to change your habits. Trillions of cells are more powerful than habits, that is connected to the personality. Same personality cannot create changed results. How many thoughts do you remember that we had yesterday? If your thoughts create your reality and you do not remember them , how are we going to change it?

Transformation is not easy. Only person who like change is the baby in the wet diaper. Everytime you fight you are releasing your A&C. Based on habits, you miss your opportunities.

We pass out from same place, but get different results. High mark people may not be successful. Why?

Same opportunity, different results?

Answer is who you are is important, rather than what you are.

Opportunities we do not see with eyes, but with RAS - like how we do not see things right in front of us. Based on opportunity you see, you make your decision.

Decision - Action - Result

Let's take one are : Money. Write how it is

Current

Savings

Loans

How do you feel about it? Think about it, the emotions that come when you think of it.

When it is said, don't focus on your pink elephant, we keep thinking of the pink elephant. Money is a magnifier.

The blocks can be the same for Relationship, health, or any other area - they are like weeds in the garden, that spoil entire garden

No.     Block                                                        Action

1.      Not so Important                         Mismanagement, avoid looking at financial details

2.     Never have any extra money        Never able to do anything more than you do to earn more money

3.     Investments are complicated        You will never take efforts to invest money

4.     Sales and marketing is cheap        Hesitate to sell your product and services

These blocks are like monkey traps. Don't be stuck in your life holding on to peanuts.

People don't earn what they are capable of earning, they earn what they are conditioned to learn.

We do not learn from past experiences, mistakes and failures.  Our brain don't let us take the risk. It says, milk is hot, butter milk is also hot.

Scientist created four blocs, electrified one block and asked a dog to go to each of the four block starting from A, they electrified A - dogs rushed to B, and went to other three. Next time they electrified B , dogs did not go to A; because B was electrified, dogs came out, next time did not go to A or B. This happened. Last time they electrified only D. Dogs went to D block only, did not dare to come out, stayed there and died.

  • Have Flexible Goals
  • Don’t give up
  • Reward Yourself
  • Every Failure is Welcome
  • Work Towards it
  • Visualize
  • Motivate
  • Auto Suggestion

Believe in yourself, and in the strength you have to shape your destiny, for nothing is impossible for a willing heart.

Remember

  1. We are responsible for our life – Life is a series of thoughts/It shapes what we become/We can choose
  2. Our Potential is a function of three primary Ingredients – Natural Talent/Personal Beliefs/Inner Desire
  3. To Create New Thoughts we must – Affirm/Conceptualize/Emotionalize
  4. Self-Esteem is person’s judgement of – Themself, how they get along with others, how productive they will be.
  5. The natural success formula:

  • Decide (what you want)
  • Act (Upon your decision)
  • Assess (Your results)
  • Change (Your approach)
  • Act (Keep on taking action, focusing on the desired outcome)

Summary:

A goal without a plan and action is just a wish.

A dream with a plan becomes a goal that’s accomplishable; and a goal with action will make your dream come true.

All men and women are born, live and die. But what distinguishes one from the other is our dreams, and what we do to make them come true. We do not choose to be born, live or die; but amidst this realm of choiceless we do choose how we live.

What? - Vision /Goal

Puja Puneet - ❤ Humanity, Healing - Profession

My business is completely personal to me …. I’ve built it believing every single person matters …. And no matter how small or big the problem if it’s brought to me I’ll jump into solve it . When love care concern & trust is the currency of your business being professional is not an option.

If I feel your pain and I cry with you doesn’t mean I’m not qualified to help you - it only means my heart has yet not hardened . I feel you - and together we will face whatever it is you are going through . May you never feel alone again is my biggest prayer.

If loving is unprofessional than I am

If being there is unprofessional than I am

Accuse me of not knowing how to build a business but never accuse of not knowing how to love someone back to their healed life . That’s my Core ❤️

I am a big believer of boundaries - big believer - but humanity will always come before . I know I cannot be everywhere therefore I’m so excited that the first set of 50 life coaches under brand Life by Design  got initiated last week .

My dream of building an army of amazing woman doing this amazing work is coming true ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿคฉ

When people ask me what does it take to be a coach - I say a big heart and a desire to serve . No not your communication skills not your certifications not anyone’s approval . All it takes is a decision to make this world a better place . Let no one ever tell you otherwise . All other skills can be learnt when the attitude is right .

If you are someone who loves too much helps too much is too giving kind generous and often accused of that -please know a time is coming where instead of your degree being your reason for your massive bank account the size of your heart is going to be the new reason . Any business without a heart is to me no business at all . If you care more for your product than for the people who are consuming it …. Then it’s only a matter of time .

Build love and loyalty and competition & price will become irrelevant . Don’t believe me - go try it for yourself .

Type below - Oh my god im excited ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ’ƒIf my heart size is going to decide my bank account im expecting truckloads ๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒปof money ๐Ÿ’ฐ

Success

It is not the years in our life, but the life in our years, That matter.

Indeed - It is the life in our years - that determine success.

Happiness.....

One thing that all crave in life. Once it was a spiritual exercise. Today, it is an industry. It is a choice. Happily everafter.

It is a biproduct.

Permanent happiness - is a life long process. Tranquillity is in the highest level - after Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha, and for that you need liberation.

According to Islam, Happiness is a life long process: It includes peace of mind, tranquillity of heart,  contentment in the world and everlasting bliss here after.

According to Judaism, follower of Moses, it is the ultimate goal of man. Pursuit of happiness is a moral duty.

It is in the US declaration of Independence.

It is least understood term. It is simple but complicated.

Finland is the happiest countries. - Education and govt. policy do play a role. Well being takes a clear policy presidency.

For one it is survival, for other it is - contentment, peace, laughter,  - It is subject.

Japan: Good Luck and social harmony

America: Freedom and Personal achievement

China: Aversion to happiness too. They belive that too much happiness can bring unhappiness.

New Zealand : Happiness and well being budget.

Butan : Gross national Happiness is more important than Gross domestic product.

Nordic countries have social support, lack of corruption.

Danish :  Happiness Research institute. - UAE too.

What is too much happiness? Can we compare it?

Who is responsible for ensuring happiness? Is it a personal choice or do Govt. have a role to play in it?

Horn your hobbies, do things you love. Money becomes a means only if you are struggling to end meets. Cost Rica - Low in GDP but 16th happiest country.

Happiness Index - world happiness report - 139 of 149 - Duty of govt. - 6 Key ingredients, Income, Life expectancy, social support, freedom, trust and Generosity,

Happiness is linked to the wellbeing of the society. Even terrorist are traced back to sad families.

Happy worker is better worker and more productive.

Priorities happiness.

It is one of the strongest emotion. Finding. Learning. Finishing.

It is personal, It is unique and out there for everyone.

Happiness is spending time in nature: watching the clouds pass by, smelling the trees, admiring the flowers, enjoying a bird's song. Happiness is beech sand under your feet and water around your relaxing body. Happiness is having a good hospital around when you need one. Happiness is a cat purring and a dog playing. Happiness is something nice to eat and drink. Happiness is writing a solid, good paper. Happiness is watching a friend enjoy good fortune.

Unhappiness is getting ill and in pain and not finding the right help. Unhappiness is doing boring things over and over again, without escape. Unhappiness is being mobbed and misunderstood or mislabeled: basically not being respected. Unhappiness is the pain of hunger, especially in your loved ones. Unhappiness is living under constant threat and stress. Happiness is finding the silver lining of the cloud. Happiness is enjoying the little things, when the bigger things can't be achieved (yet). Happiness is finding purpose that is bigger than you.

Two key components of happiness (or subjective well-being) are:

The balance of emotions: Everyone experiences both positive and negative emotions, feelings, and moods. Happiness is generally linked to experiencing more positive feelings than negative.

Life satisfaction: This relates to how satisfied you feel with different areas of your life including your relationships, work, achievements, and other things that you consider important.

We feel we will be happy, when we get a job - but are we happy when we get a job or be stressed and busy? We do not know what we want, and wait for the right moment to be happy, when time is preparing for our funeral.

Understand just this, essentially My Life is a combination of time and energy. Time is rolling away for all of us. We cannot roll it back. What is ticking away is not our time, but our life. It rolls at the same pace for everyone. Do whatever you want. Energy called life, you can pitch at different level - different expression. How about your expression being that of joy?

Life is a certain amount of energy, it is not limitless, but it can be enhanced. Impact and profoundness of experience, depend on how you use your energy.

Life is time and energy. Question is making something out of it. Not in society. But how profoundly you experience life?

Don't go behind what lowers your faculties. It will not enhance your life. You have to super enhance your faculties. Greatest chemical factory is within. We have a sophisticated machine. Have you read the users manual. Make your faculties super bright. The way you see, the way you feel, the way you hear, the way you taste, the way you touch and other dimensions of human faculties.

If you have everything you want, what would you want? Gautham Buddha.

Mortal means you have a limited amount of time and energy.  You decide how you want to live.

You can be happy volunteering in a hospital ward, and seeing people die, knowing all of us have limited time and energy. Life is an existential reality. There is a psychological reality running in our head. Greatest evil on the planet is ignorance.

Don't be fearful or in pain. Know and be happy. There are five levels of happiness.

Some key signs of happiness include:

  • Feeling like you are living the life you wanted
  • Feeling that the conditions of your life are good
  • Feeing that you have accomplished (or will accomplish) what you want in life
  • Feeling satisfied with your life
  • Feeling positive more than negative

One important thing to remember is that happiness isn't a state of constant euphoria. Instead, happiness is an overall sense of experiencing more positive emotions than negative ones.

Happy people still feel the whole range of human emotions—anger, frustrastion, boredom, loneliness, and even sadness—from time to time. But even when faced with discomfort, they have an underlying sense of optimism that things will get better, that they can deal with what is happening, and that they will be able to feel happy again.

Types of Happiness

There are many different ways of thinking about happiness. For example, the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle made a distinction between two different kinds of happiness: hedonia and eudaimonia.

Hedonia: Hedonic happiness is derived from pleasure. It is most often associated with doing what feels good, self-care, fulfilling desires, experiencing enjoyment, and feeling a sense of satisfaction.

Eudaimonia: This type of happiness is derived from seeking virtue and meaning. Important components of eudaimonic well-being including feeling that your life has meaning, value, and purpose. It is associated more with fulfilling responsibilities, investing in long-term goals, concern for the welfare of other people, and living up to personal ideals.

Hedonia and eudemonia are more commonly known today in psychology as pleasure and meaning, respectively. More recently, psychologists have suggested the addition of the third component that relates to engagement.

Some types of happiness that may fall under these three main categories include:

Joy: A often relatively brief feeling that is felt in the present moment

Excitement: A happy feeling that involves looking forward to something with positive anticipation

Gratitude: A positive emotion that involves being thankful and appreciative

Pride: A feeling of satisfaction in something that you have accomplished

Optimism: This is a way of looking at life with a positive, upbeat outlook

Contentment: This type of happiness involves a sense of satisfaction

Happiness is an emotional state characterized by feelings of joy, satisfaction, contentment, and fulfillment. While happiness has many different definitions, it is often described as involving positive emotions and life satisfaction.

When most people talk about happiness, they might be talking about how they feel in the present moment, or they might be referring to a more general sense of how they feel about life overall.

Because happiness tends to be such a broadly defined term, psychologists and other social scientists typically use the term 'subjective well-being' when they talk about this emotional state. Just as it sounds, subjective well-being tends to focus on an individual's overall personal feelings about their life in the present.

Five levels of happiness ranging from very basic happiness to a false sense of happiness to happy feelings to true and lasting happiness.

Instinctual Happiness

The most basic form of happiness is what I call “instinctual happiness.” This elementary type of happiness can be best described by the old saying, “I’m just happy to be alive!” Instinctual happiness is less real happiness than simply the appreciation for having survived another day.  Instinctual happiness was less about feelings of elation, joy, and serenity than about the absence of hunger, thirst, and cold, very much akin to the lowest rung of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.

Defended Happiness

Happiness may not be the presence, but rather the absence, of certain feelings. For example, we experience what we call happiness when we are not experiencing psychological obstacles such as doubt, worry, ruminations, or hypervigilance. We also experience what we call happiness when we are not experiencing aversive emotions such as fear, frustration, anger, or despair. Lastly, we experience what we call happiness when there are no physical barriers including stress, exhaustion, illness, and injury.

Unfortunately, we aren’t often able to just relieve ourselves of these truly unpleasant experiences because they are either deeply ingrained, beyond our control, or must be endured due to our life circumstances. Psychotherapy or other forms of interventions can help, but they are definitely not fool proof.

In these situations, we engage in what I call “defended happiness,” in which we develop habits and patterns of thinking, feeling, behaving, and interacting with the world that protect us from the pain sufficiently to feel some mild semblance of happiness (again, more the absence of ill feelings rather than the presence of good feelings). Perfectionism, fear of failure, need for control, need to please, and social isolation (and, in extreme cases, severe mental illness) are all ways in which we attempt to feel less unhappy. In this defended form of happiness, we are, in a way, choosing the lesser of the two evils. Unfortunately, as you look at this list of ways to reduce our pain, you will see little opportunity for real happiness. But, for many people, that is as happy as they are going to get (at least in the short term). Apologies for sounding so fatalistic, but life can be that way.

Medicated Happiness

Sadly, despite our best efforts, some of us are unable to readily defend ourselves against unhappiness through internal action (i.e., changing the way we think, feel, or behave). In this situation, we turn to external means, which brings me to my third level of happiness, “medicated happiness.” As I noted above, we all experience thoughts and emotions that detract from our happiness. In response, we engage in activities that “medicate” us against those experiences.

Most of us do things that aren’t really harmful, yet temporarily dull the emotional pain we may feel that prevents our experiencing some modicum of happiness. Moreover, our “medications” can help us to experience a psychological and emotional state that resembles happiness as we know it, at least in short bursts. We surround ourselves with people who make us feel loved, valued, supported, and encouraged. We exercise which takes our minds off of our troubles, makes us feel good physically, and releases endorphins (which reduces stress and can produce a brief bursts of euphoria). We immerse ourselves in work, hobbies, and other activities (e.g., charitable work, art, cooking, movie watching, reading, the list is endless) that distract us from and temporarily dull our pain. Though less common, some people go to extreme lengths to medicate themselves in ways that not only cause more unhappiness, but also have significant health implications including drinking alcohol, taking drugs, and gambling.

Contented Happiness

The levels of happiness that I’ve described so far hardly fit into our culturally defined understanding of what happiness should be. At the same time, the reality is that one of the above three levels of happiness may be as good as it’s going to get for some people whether due to genes or unfortunate life circumstances.

Contentment is the feeling that we get when we engage in pleasurable activities such as walking our dogs, having dinner with friends, hanging out with our children, pursuing an enjoyable hobby, the list goes on. They make us feel “happy” for a little while. We choose our activities that align with our personalities, values, and interests. Such activities will, they suggest, produce the greatest amount of good feelings possible which can give the experience of, though, not the depth and breadth of so-called real happiness.

Existential Happiness

At the top of my happiness hierarchy lies what I call “existential happiness.” I would characterize this as the only “real” happiness, the most deep, true, and lasting form of happiness. Existential happiness comes from living our lives in a way that is infused with meaning, satisfaction, and joy. It comes from living an authentic life based on our values; having a passion for and caring deeply about something; setting, striving for, and achieving deeply held goals; engaging in activities that are fulfilling; and being deeply connected to others.

As you can imagine, this is no small feat given that the reality of much of life is often mundane, routine, and rote. Moreover, so much of our  thoughts and routine pushes us to pursue happiness in the wrong direction, telling us it is about wealth, power, status, consumption, and beauty.

Happiness seem both out of our control and beyond our capabilities.

Happiness is worth pursuing and how we can actually find happiness, though it may not be the  happiness that we have been brainwashed to believe in.

  Consider four paths forward.

First, initially focus on the obstacles that have prevented your experiencing happiness to this point. In other words, look for ways to let go of whatever has caused you to settle for defended or medicated happiness.

Second, figure out what your values are and what gives meaning to your life.

Third, within the confines of the busy, stressful, and humdrum lives we often lead, build experiences that given you purpose, fulfillment, and joy into your daily lives on a regular basis, thus making those routine days a little less routine.

Finally, free yourself of the shackles of a belief about happiness (“I can find nirvana!”) that probably doesn’t exist and embrace an understanding of happiness that you can actually attain.

When survival is settled we have n number of problems, when survival is unsettled, that is the only problem.

English Language Day...

Remember having celebrated 14th Sept. as Hindi Divas when in school. Good to have a day dedicated to promote languages. Those were pleasant days, there were no chaos like today.

Good that we now have a day for English as well, when reverse transition is happening world over.
UN English Day is observed annually on 23 April. The event was established by UN's Department of Public Information in 2010 "to celebrate multilingualism and cultural diversity as well as to promote equal use of all six official languages throughout the Organization".

For the English Language Day, April 23 was chosen because it is the date "traditionally observed as both the birthday and date of death of William Shakespeare"
