World Cup Cricket 2023

The stadium, hailed as the largest cricket stadium in the world, was packed with over 1.25 lakh spectators.  India was the BEST Team in this tournament. We were outplayed in the final but that can happen on the day . Yes we are all disappointed but Take a bow Rahul Dravid, Rohit Sharma and the entire team: you have been spectacular in your 10 match winning streak . However, a message for the BCCI: next time we organise the World Cup at home, please treat it as a WORLD CUP and not a by, for, and of  India tournament. And do invite a Kapil Dev and all our WC winning cricket heroes for the finals! Till 2031, which is the next time we host the 50 over World Cup (hopefully with the final at our lucky ground in Mumbai😊) good luck India!! And thank you men in blue for the memories 🙏👍

The law of average caught Indians at the worst possible time!! Sad day for India..

But wait, not a very sad day!

Here is a list of what they achieved:
Most Wins in the tournament - India
Best Net Run Rate - India
Most runs - Kohli
Most wickets - Shami
Highest average - Kohli
Most fours - Kohli
Most sixes - Rohit
Most fifties - Kohli
Best bowling figure - Shami
Most five wicket haul - Shami
Best bowling Strike Rate - Shami
Best bowling Average - Shami
Chin up guys. You did us proud.

But you have to admit, Australians rise to occasions in bigger matches.. Their mental toughness is of another level when stakes are high!! Australia and Pat Cummins take a bow: you played the PERFECT  final. Outbowled, outbatted and out-fielded India. Brave but correct decision in the end to bowl first. You deserve the Cup.

The Sydney Morning Herald and The Guardian London comments on How India has taken the World out of the ICC Cricket World Cup. It’s a World Cup for India, by India and for Indians.

Unlike any other world cup, there were no fans from foreign countries. No other flags Except the Indian flag being waved. All matches not featuring India had empty stands and no spectators. 120,000 fans at the Narendra Modi stadium sang the national anthem and chanted Jai Sri Ram

Totally dominated by Indians untill last, but end was not ours.

Australian Team:
1. Came mentally prepared with a strong mind.
2. Great fielding and saved 50 to 60 runs did not allow India to cross even 250 runs leave aside 300 runs
3. Very strong balanced partnership by Head and Marnus. Head was hitting and Marnus was playing defensive (he scored 58 runs in 110 balls).
4. Allowed Rohit to hit and hit and finally one wrong hit and caught out. Don't forget the catch by Head it was like do or die. This was the turning point of the match.
5. The partnership warmed up to the Indian spinners and both Jadeja and Yadav gave away 99 runs completing their 10 overs each.
What matters is team play and Australia proved they are the best when it comes together as a team they can win 6 times in a row

On this particular win 🏆,  this was the team's response on the crowd.

The Ahmedabad police have deployed about 6,000 police personnel for security, with the majority stationed at the stadium. Inspite of the security measures the man, identified as Wen Johnson, a resident of Australia, managed to reach the pitch and tried to hug Virat Kohli who was then batting with KL Rahul in the 14th over. Police said that he lives in Sydney and is 24 years old.

Well things have changed,

Hearty Congratulations to Anushka Sharma!

This Indian team was the best India ever played. They were in prime form led by a selfless captain, the best anchor in Virat Kohli, and a ferocious bowling attack. They dominated in every aspect. One bad day at the office doesn't take away what they have achieved over Ten matches.

Virat Kohli and Mohammed Shami have been the clear standout performers for the Men in Blue, the crucial contributions of wicket-keeping batter KL Rahul have gone under the radar. The 31-year-old has been immaculate for India behind the stumps and also with the bat throughout the tournament.

Spare a thought for Rohit Sharma and team India: winning 10 matches in a row is an incredible feat. Thank you for the great memories: one bridge too far in the end.. and yes, next time in India can we have a final where the dew isn’t a factor and where decision makers  don’t push for a dry pitch: have faith and just prepare a good cricket wicket.

I believe world cup final should be in 'Best of 3' format, like what they used to have in some of the multilateral tournaments in the 80s and the 90s.

Last 10 years
4 Semis
5 Finals
India lost..

Good to see audience have matured or is it "pehle wo ek bada sports hua kartha tha...so crowd used to get emotional. Now cricket is entertainment.  People are forgiving... raat gayi baat gayi 😂"
