Of Whims and of Strife is Life (Poem) & Perceptions ~ Denver Jones

Denver Jones has always been passionate about writing. His works afford food for thought and usually have a deeper meaning than what is just apparent. He is a person of many talents. From a very tender age, he would write with wisdom beyond his years. He is sensitive and very perceptive. Reading his work transports you and makes you relive and feel the story. The simplicity of the words used combined with the creativity and the depth of emotion makes each piece a special experience, whether it involves high flights of thought or it is just experiencing a moment. It is for this reason that his works can be appreciated alike by both the young reader and also the experienced.

It has been said that his works have a soul and that each piece, though usually short, takes sometime to digest, assimilate and for the gravity of the work to sink in.

A collection of Poems. Poetry in this book are more than reflection of life, may of the stories they tell are inspired by life. These stories are varied and throb with nature and human experience. Stores about the Poor Rich Girt, Petrichor, A Prince's tale, Seasons, Ghosts etc.

Another thought provoking collection of essays, poems and stories. Have you ever read a book and thought this could easily be made into a movie or a series? I just finished reading one.
Picture a collection of 25 unique short stories and poems that are beautifully crafted, evoking several emotions at once and allowing you to vividly visualize the worlds within them. This is precisely what "Perceptions Beyond the Apparent" by Denver Jones achieves. It is one of the most fascinating books I have read in recent times.
This book showcases Denver's talent in writing a compelling story within the span of a few pages. The narrative holds your attention from the very first sentence to the final word. Though engaging, the characters do not need any back history, yet their whole existence is portrayed in a brief space. You feel you know them and you feel for them. The shortest of stories made me think the longest.
Denver’s storytelling has the power to shake you or shock you. The writing is layered, ranging from sweet and soul touching to brooding and thought provoking, leaving me smiling one moment and shedding tears the next. Denver’s imagination though vivid, is rooted in reality. Somewhere in the mundane, everyday life of his characters, is this sparkle of wonder and magic. The subtle hint of fantasy and unexpectedness adds an enchanting quality that lingers with you long after you have turned the pages.
Each chapter is diverse, showing his incredible versatility. Denver shows amazing skill navigating from the smooth flow of his poetic verse to the crisp narration of his short stories. Denver creates in each of his chapters, a world that is both extraordinary and relatable. He makes us think, encourages us to perceive our life happenings, beyond the apparent. It’s a unique approach not just to storytelling but also at looking at life.
A few of the stories like the Alien, Wishmaster’s club and The night before the exam will stay with me for a long time. The Wishmaster’s club is specially my favourite. The last chapter is fittingly heart-touching and beautifully written.
I would recommend this lovely book for those who appreciate stories that warm the heart, challenge the mind and touch the soul.
