Rakthamillatha manushyan

Rakthamillatha Manushyan is a 1979 Indian Malayalam film, directed by Jeassy and produced by J. J. Kuttikkad. The film stars Soman, Jayabharathi, Vidhubhala, Sukumari, Shubha, Adoor Bhasi, Jose and Manavalan Joseph in the lead roles. The film has been haunting me for some time, do not know why.

In the movie Sivan (Soman) , an orphan, is seduced by Sumati (Shubha), the daughter of the family he gets adopted into. Enraged, her father sends Sivan to jail, on release he is not allowed home, Sumathi is married and have kid.

As he is on the road side,  he meets a prostitute (Jayabharathi) they become support for one another. He gives her 5 Rupee and ask him to have something, as Soman was pennyless. He saves her from rowdy.  They start leaving together and become support for each other.  Jayabharathi has a daughter and she was forced into it for living.

Soman ends up marrying Vidhubhala, who had eloped with her boyfriend, but he ditched her. There is an interesting scene between Jayabharathi and her boyfriend. Does Virginity mean different for men and women?  Soman forces Vidhubhala to into prostitution, first she is hesitant, and Jayabharathi agree to go on her behalf, but then she goes when Jayabharathi had to go and meet her daughter on her birthday.

Soman leave Jayabharathi and go to Chennai with Vidhubhala, she pleads him, but he pays no heed. There Vidhubala has to do the same, but now they leave in a bigger house. Sukumari, falls in love with Soman, and he traps her for her wealth and makes her kill her husband. Then he leave Vidhubhala just as her left Jayabhrathi.  He goes back to his adopted family, buy the house they once leaved in, get into business and prosper. Now a rich well to do business man, his acquantent, offers his daughters proposal to Soman for marriage.

He ask Sukumari too to leave him, she is pregnant then. Jayabharathi's daughter is unwell and she dies, her house is burnt, with no where to go she comes to Chennai. She says, Sivan/Soman has played with three women, she will not let her play with the fourth. She reminds him, on how his live had started with 5 Rupees, he throws a five rupee note on her face. Understanding that nothing would mellow down Soman and he has become selfish and blind for money, Jayabharathi kills him.
