Preparing Post Pandemic Graduates - World Students Day - 15th Oct. 21

Educators' Conclave organized by ICT Academy, on the occasion of the WORLD STUDENTS DAY, Friday the 15th Oct 2021, scheduled between 4.00 and 5.30 pm. The theme is on "PREPARING POST PANDEMIC GRADUATES". The conclave brings together educators of Higher Education and Industry experts to discuss on how academic campuses should prepare their students post the pandemic situation.

Its was an online event with keynotes and a panel discussion by experts.

The event also witnessed the release of a book titled "Post Pandemic Graduate".

The quantum Indians, scientists, Sir C.V. Raman, Dr. Sathyanad Bose, learned on their own, hypostasized, made a name for themselves and India. They did not stop there, In the book, 'Space, Life Matter', many scientist produced, so many findings, that we celebrate today, India's arrival in many fields. People who learned on their own and made a great difference.

We need to have that kind of environment. Teachers and Educators have to show the way. Make students wholesome. That is within the grasp of us. Basic attitudes, inspiration, motivation. Fundamental think is attitude that the student, teachers and parents show.

M P Vijaykumar: Important to be agile to come to a conclusion on how the new normal will be. For Employability what is needed is:

  1. Ability for self learning
  2. Ability to handle uncertainty - Volatility, complexity.  Tomorrow the internet would be down.
  3. Ability to work as a team and not individual.

Sujith Kumar:

  1. Work from home
  2. Blended learning is going to be the way forward
  3. One should be high on learnability quotient - Faculty should be able to reskill themselves
  4. Critical thinking, tech savvy, communication skill, emotional intelligence, the current training centers will be used as reskilling center - Companies recruit through Hackathons.
Rashmi Bansal:
  1. New national education policy including - all want to pass exams.
  2. Permanent Employment is not going to be a thing in the future - you have to be self motivated.
  3. Problem solving ability, Perseverance, Practical, Fear of missing out something better - Find something that is interesting, do it your best.
Narayanan Ramaswamy:

World is changing big time, there is nothing called permanent job or permanent learning - so students should be taught, to learn - unlearn and relearn.

  1. GIG economy will give lot of GIG workers - People don't want to be stuck in one job, and like multi tasking.
  2. Social Media and impact on youngsters - Teach them it is okay if things don't happen immediately.
  3. Innovation - We have to be able to find solutions.
NEP - what is needed in the future, and how can we transition from the present.
  1. Multi disciplinary approach.
  2. Have multiple entry and exit
  3. Get into applications and not assessments
Reimagination of how university should be in the future:
  1. Collaboration with Industry and society
  2. Collaboration with outside institutions
  3. Collaboration with other disciplines.
Gap exist between generations, what we need to understand, is how we embrace the change. We grew up in a constrained environment, and took time to understand what freedom is. Today's generation want to be themselves.

First advise to the new recruit:
  1. Curiosity - come up the learning curve quickly
  2. Attitude - work space cannot be defined, need to take ownership at all level - Result oriented
  3. Ability to deliver- communicating, elevator pitch, effectiveness.
Students still look at the old path, could be because of uncertainty or the influence of parents.  Colleges with campus interview, people like to choose that. One has to be a story teller. Student should have self belief and confidence of what they can do.  Not everything should be given on a platter.

  • Play it to your strength.
  • Learn to take stress. This should be taught in college - Yoga, meditation
  • Technology is very exciting, stick to it, and don't go to consulting - if that is your interest. AI CMC thought of in 1990

Basics of Managing Money

Money, Money, Money,

Man Made Money,

Money Made Man Mad,

Mad Mad money,

Mad Mad Man.

Don't know why and from where it came to my head now, but was reminded of this, or this are the lines that came to my head as I registered for the course:

http://www.prime5c.com/managing-money.html

Course is interesting.

Basics of Managing Money:

  1. Is it essential to know about money?
  2. How much money should you earn in the 5th year after your graduation?
Money is an important aspect of life, it would be good to know about the nuances of money. There is nothing shameful if you aspire to earn lot of money, as long as it is in the good way.

The course is covered in three modules:

Module 1 - Money economics

Sessions: 6 | Time: 1 hour 23 min

How did Money Originate: 14 min

How did money originate? - It was neither invented nor discovered. It slowly evolved over a period of time. Story of the Barber, carpenter and the milk man. Many years ago, there was a system called barter, it was cumbersome. Then came yellow metal with the cousin silver and paper currency. People were giving their golds to temples and they gave a note which was used by people. This is called the Gold Standard. Issue boiled down to Trust. One bright morning Govt. said there need not be backing and currency was born. This does not mean gold standard was better. As long as people trust the system, paper currency is acceptable, and that is how it was evolved. Today we have Debit cards, Credit cards, mobile banking, electronic wallets etc. There is a wide speculation and strong belief that by 2040 currency will disappear.

1) Is money an invention or a discover?

2) What is barter and what are it's limitations?

Needs, Wants, Necessities, Comforts & Luxuries- 16 min - These are 5 Forms of spending. Focus on your needs and not want. Ensure you don't spend more than 10% on wants. Spend money on necessities, compromise on comforts and until you have enough money stay off from luxuries. Necessities are things without which you cannot do. They are for life, efficiency or conventional.

These three progressively take us to higher level of happiness. When it comes to money, different people have different priorities.

Tax, Savings & Investment-23 min

What are taxed and why it need to be paid? Share the responsibility and earnings to the government. They set up the environment where we earn. So we are partners in the venture we do. They with the money, help maintain the infrastructure. There are two forms of taxes - Direct and Indirect or expenditure or GST.  When people don't pay tax, the tax rates for good guys will have to pay will increase. Why is the government wasting tax payers money? If you earn Rs. 100/- and pay Rs. 30/- as tax, that Rs. 30/- becomes government's money. That they should spend it judiciously is another matter. But it is not over money.

There are three category of people:

Income - Savings = Expenses

Income - Expenses = Savings

Income + Borrowing = Expenses

The first cheque you write should be to yourself.

While savings and investment sound alike - the difference is savings is short time, can give less return, but ensure that money is not lost. Investment is more long term. You put aside for longer period.

  1. Is it okay, not to pay taxes?
  2. What is the desirable saving equation?

Learning Material - Income and Expense (3 pages) and Saving (3 pages)

Module 2 - Personal Finance Basics

Sessions: 6 | Time: 1 hour 19 min

Money goals - Smart- 23 min - Make it SMART - Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time Bound. Write it on a paper in your own handwriting.  -  What, when, ow much, from where, why?

Smart it, time it, Write it. Time is Immediate, short, medium or long term. Record your goals.

Power of compounding - 13 min - 8th wonder of the world. You earn interest on the interest. Longer time, More money. Small savings grow into an incurably large amount. There is a great advantage of starting early, as there will be longer time horizon to invest. Like wine, longer period, greater the value of investment.

Budget and Record keeping - 13 min

  1. Right now how much money do you have in your wallet?
  2. What was your income last month?
  3. What was the approximate spending last month?
Maintain record of your income and expenditure.

Not many will step into bricks and mortars or the physical bank in the future. This is not surprising. Last 20 years, banking have undergone a metamorphosis. Bankers drop in at our homes. Opening bank account is the most exciting thing for a teenager. Banks world over are regulated by Central bank, and are interconnected. Bank takes 4 documents when opening an account. KYC documents are important. Depositing here is of lower risk.

18 min: Online Banking

Now we are in the era of Mouse and click banking from bricks and mortars banking.

Mobile Banking : Banking on the move.

Cards : HSBC introduced ATMS in 1987, in the matter of few years it will disappear. Now there are three types of cards available - Prepaid cards, Debit cards and Credit cards.

Comprehensive level - digital bank, internet banking, ibanking, mobile banking.

12 min: How to invest in bank term deposit - 6 Parameters to look into before investing - few ratios to know if the bank is good or not for investing, these ratios will be available on the internet. They are:

  1. Gross NPA ratio  - Higher the ratio, risk is more, lower the better
  2. Net NPA to total Assets ratio -   Lower the better (Net = Gross-provisions)
  3. CASA - Current account, Saving account ratio to total assets - Higher the better
  4. Net Interest Margin - Lower CASA, less would be the net interest margin, the higher the better
  5. Capital Adequacy ratio - Capital to risk weighted assets. Higher the better.
For Bank the raw material is money and finish product is money.

Identify 10 banks and find the 5 ratio. Based on the 50 numbers, see which banks are good.

18 min: Learning Material: Insurance (2 pages), Investment (2 pages), Retirement (1 pages), Govt Schemes (4 pages)

Closing

You should be careful about money and take necessary safeguard.

There are three parts to Money:
  • Making or earning money as the only person who make money are the ones working in the mint.
  • Managing Money - Be wise
  • Manifesting Money.

What next?

There are people who started business on night, and took it to IPO too. Most of us would have had these feeling, at one point in time or the other?

Once the "new job honeymoon" is over, people have a reality check and realise that:

- they risk burning out due to the long hours

- there's no structure in their work

- office politics

- they're not growing at all

- can't fit into the team

- they are thrown work outside of the JD

Or they simply find something that's paid more or sounds exciting, etc...

The problem is they go out of the frying pan 🍳into the 🔥.

No one deserves to be unhappy in a job.

So here's what you can do:

1. Before you leave decide how you want to serve others.

2. What skills you have that can help you do that?

3. Create a plan - what's the 1st, 2nd and 3rd job you can take to that? Then align rebrand your CV and LinkedIn to align with that path.

It's productivity guilt. When you start the day you think you've more time, but when it's already night without accomplishing much of what you planned to do, you suddenly decide to stay late at night and do more - 2am  and after a while you think you are good at working late hours - not all the time, of course.

It's good to know that such things exist, is common and many other people are going through. This helps us understand ourselves better and know how to address the challenge properly.

The Secret of Change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.

Coffee : The Changing and New Waves

First, Coffee was a beverage, second it became a social thing - lot can happen over a cup of coffee, third wave - is about specialty coffee (eg with jasmine, almond and chocolate) (Passion fruit and honey) mango. Third wave is to celebrate the taste of coffee.

There are three parts to coffee, before it comes to your cup. Coffee is more like wine or whiskey. Tea is more like a vodka where you can infuse things into it post distilling. It is believed that coffee first was found in Ethiopia.

P.C https://www.aromasofcoorg.com/

Where it comes from?

3000-6000 level about sea level. Multiple variety. It draws a lot from the soil, unlike tea. The altitude it is grown - high altitude coffee are more delicate, take more time to mature. Low grown coffee, mature soon. What you pick out of the plant is the cherry.

There are three ways to pull the bean out of cherry

  • Sun dried: Dry Rot and wash off the  pulp - sweeter as it takes sweet from the pulp.
  • Washed: Deep pulp it putting into water. - sweet is removed.
  • Honey wash - where you keep the pulp only remove the skin. - sweeter.

Cooking or roosting the bean?

Once you have the bean, it goes to the roaster. We have different shades based on where it is grown, how it is pulled. Once you cook the bean, everything changes - there is smell of coffee, until then there is no smell.

What you want to get out of the bean is in control of the roster. It can be light roast, medium roast or heavy roast.

There is no good or bad coffee, it is extremely subjective. There are multiple things that come in its way, before it comes into your cup.

How can we brew the coffee?

Two ways to brew the coffee.

  • Let water pass, only take the outer part of the coffee - it just passes through the coffee - how long and how fast, makes difference
  • Boil the coffee and take the full of it.
There are variables that go into a coffee and it changes everything about a coffee.

Third wave - People experimenting. Collaboration between the above three and how the coffee is being processed. A lovely journey.

Some say best coffee is Luba coffee where animal pic and from its extract   coffee is made. But it is objective.

You can use French press or pour over, they taste drastically different - what bean we use and how you grind, and let it sit are all important.

  • For Fruity and floral - will use pour over,
  • Want dark use French press

Personal thought - a coffee should not sit for more than three weeks. Coffee is like apples, if you live it open, it will get oxidized and the taste would change.

Every variable change the taste of the coffee.

Working with coffee, is like film making . Writing, collaborate with 100 odd people - artists, actors, until finally it is made.

This is true about anything and everything in life. It's great journey, who understands everybody's point of view.

A collaborative journey. Do your piece and fitting into a larger puzzle.

South India - Chicory is used for filter coffee, which cut the bitter.

Caffeine level - how determined? - may be altitude.

Filter coffee has a respect - it is the only coffee  good with milk and sugar.

But coffees - without milk , sugar, and cream - is  completely different way of consuming a coffee. There is a market for it.

Suicide: Human Fate

It's human fate that we have to stand looking at certain things, irrespective of how desperately we want to do something. Why do that happen?

Not once, but it happens, time and again in many different forms, death of a loved one, sickness, loss of something precious - the most sorrow full of all is our dear ones taking up their life.  What better time to realize this than now when pandemic has touched most of us?

This tragedy happened while my grandfather was talking to his friends in front of the Village temple. My grandfather, Raman Nair, was devastated when he was told that Vijayan, his son had gone missing in the village pond. Can't believe it's been 24 years. In my mind is the face of the winner who always speaks with a smile.

How can we just conclude these to be human destiny? It was the 1st of August 1997, around 7.30pm -8pm.  His daughter, 10 years old was reading Balarama to here brothers of 1.5 years and 8 years. A relative informed that Vijayman was seen going to the temple pond, some time before, nobody saw him come back. There seems to be an accident. After some time, people got into the pond to search for him. As it was the time of karkidekam, high tide  Pond was full of water.

What came home was his body in ambulance. School teachers, students, friends and relatives gathered around. Trials and Tribulations continued for the family members. Why did father do this, the children thought, why did the son do this, Parents thought. Mother started losing her memory, with the loss of her elder son, siblings had a vacuum in their heart. Kids are grown up now, parents are no more. Friends and families have memories, and some do not remember him at all, he is faded from the memory for many.

 A vaporizer with memorial flowers.

Prostration

23 years later and in quick succession within a year, two more.

One is one of the first cousins son, who just turned 18 years, who had a bike accident a year before, and his physical abilities disabled, took away his life last October.

This August it was fathers younger brothers son, one of the twin brother who was around 35 years. Both the young boys were unmarried - but have left behind a loving and caring mother traumatized.

What could we have done to stop this? Would their speaking up have helped and lives be better?

Mahalaya Amavasya

Pitru Paksha, meaning the fortnight of the ancestors, is a period in the Hindu month of Bhadrapada, which is usually in September. It comes after poornima which comes immediatly after the Ganesh Chaturthi. It starts on the Pratipada and ends on Amavasya day known as Sarva-pitri amavasya or Pitru Amavasya or Mahalaya amavasya. Departed ancesters are worshipped it is called Shraadh -no other auspicious work is done during this period.

According to  belief, the souls of our departed ancestors reside in Pitruñloka, a place between heaven and earth till they go to the higer worlds. During Pitru Paksha, the sun enters Libra or Tula. At this time the spirits leave Pitruloka and reside in house of their descendants for a month till the sun enters Scorpio or Vrichchhika and till the full moon. Hence Hindus worship our ancestors during the 1st dark fortnight.

The entire 15days of Mahalaya are good for ancestral worship but the Sarva-pitri or Mahalaya amavasya is  the best  for the worship of ancestrals irrespective of the day they died. It is the most important day of the Pitru Paksha. Those who have forgotten to perform shraddha or could not do, can do Shradh on this day. A shraddha performed on this day is considered as one performed in the holy place Gaya, which is considered the best place for Shradh.

If you know how to perform the Shradh ritual nothing like it. If not you can call a priest and get it done. Traditionally a crow, a cow and a dog are also fed. If you cannot do it simply offer food to the poor.

Mahalaya Amavasya is the day when you remember all the departed souls and thank them and wish peace for them.

There is an ancient tradition in which the family members take a few sesame seeds and little bit of rice, and then they think of their ancestors and say, ‘May you be contented, may you be contented, may you be contented.’

They say this three times and then they drop the little grains of sesame seeds with some water.

The significance of this ritual is to tell the departed that – If you still have some desires in your mind, know that they are like sesame seeds. They are not significant, just drop them. We will take care of them for you. You be free, happy and contented! There is huge universe in front of you. The universe is infinite, so look forward and go; drop whatever is pulling you back. This is called Tarpana.

Tarpana means bringing satisfaction and fulfillment to the departed. It is done to tell them to be contented and move further.

Water is the symbol of love. To give anyone water means giving love.

At the time of Mahabharata War, Karna was killed, and he went to heaven. He was welcomed there. After sometime, he was hungry, and asked for food. They gave gold in a plate, which he could not eat. So he went to the King of God's Indra, and asked him the reason, Indra said, through out your life, you have fed people with Gold, you have never fed people food, so even here you will get only gold. He asked Indra Dev to grant him permission, to return to earth so he can feed the people on earth, and his wish was granted.

Another story is this was the period, when the Pandava's set on their journey to heaven after their earthly duties.

You Matter - Dr Meghana Dikshit

An Ayurvedic doctor, with interest in neuroscience and neuropsychology. She helps people reach new heights, by rewiring the neurological patterns. She believes that any disturbance in any aspect of our lives can lead to DIS-EASE. Wellness is holistic. It is a 360 degree transition. To live a life of fulfilment is our birthright.

Success is progressing in every area of your life.

Understand your subconscious mind.

95% of our subconscious mind is developed under the age of 7 years. The information your receive from your surrounding forms your assumptions about yourself and the world. These are called beliefs. There are two kinds of beliefs - self proving and self improving.

Self proving beliefs:

  • I am good at relationship but poor at finance
  • I am good administrator but not good at negotiation
  • It's difficult to manage work and home effectively, I can choose only one
  • Woman have to compromise
  • I can't have it all
1. Write your limiting belief on a paper , tear it and throw it away.
2. Write your self improving belief , repeat it twice a day, morning and night. eg. 'I am a natural negotiator', 'Managing in my life comes with ease and grace'.

Be more aware of your self Critical talk. Oh, you cant do that, what will people say? This is not okay, you are not supposed to do that.

Overcome self critical talk by mirror work. Deliberate mirror work.

Appreciate it, say good about you.

Hey Me God Bless you,

You have come a long way, and from here, you are only to go forward.

You cannot discover new oceans until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.

And this became my 96th of 2021

"To be what we are, and to become what we are capable of becoming, is the only end of life" - Robert Louis Stevenson

When we give people a sense of purpose or make them feel valued, it brings out the best in them. Five elements (earth, water, fire, air and space) are basic ingredients of life. Both Micro and Macro Cosm,

It covered :

  1. The Evolution Theory - Explains our brain with ant story - Neo is our neocortex or frontal lobe which governs our conscious thoughts, Lim is our Limbic brain, chemical brain or emotional brain and Cere is the cerebellum or the reptilian brain. The eagle represents amygdala, a small part of limbic brain that gets hijacked by any perceived danger. The ants represent billions of nerve cells that form networks within our brain. Neo's five friends refer to our fie senses (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, olfactory and gustatory) and food refers to the stimuli and neural connections we are forming and meanings we attach to the stimuli.."Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve."- Napoleon Hill. What stops us from achieving? Self-limitations. Because of insecurities, shyness, guilt, regret or repression. Growth doesn't happen unless we take risks, open ourselves up for new challenges, and learn from our mistakes. Cause and effect is applicable everywhere. If you are not happy with the effect, then we must change the causes that created them. Results/current Reality = Action+Emotions+Thoughts+Beliefs+seeds (10% conscious , 50% to 60% subconscious and 30% to 40% is unconscious mind) If you compare mind to a computer, Conscious Mind= Keyboard Monitor, Subconscious mind =RAM and Unconscious Mind =ROM. To change your reality, first, you must know it clearly. Your thoughts influence your reality. If we want to change something, we must first know what to change. Story: A king, could see only green - he painted everything green in kingdom, and asked all to wear only green, when he could have used a green spectacle  himself. Clarity on reality is the first step to mastery. Change is tough in the beginning, back breaking in the middle, and magnificent at the end. If not tough, its not real change.

  2. The Blueprint : With practice we become expert in doing what we are doing. Energy flows where attention goes! "Every human being is hypnotized to some extent, either by ideas he has uncritically accepted from others, or ideas he has repeated to himself or convinced himself are true. " - Maxwell Maltz. Your view of yourself is shaped by your blueprint of life, which comprises your unique thoughts and beliefs. Self esteem is how you feel about yourself, and self image is about how you see yourself and how you believe others see you.  If you have a poor opinion of yourself, your self-esteem will be low. We often are a victim of our own past that prevents us from becoming the hero of our present. "We do not see things as they are, we see them as we are." -Talmud. Most negative emotion is Fear. The success blockers.
  3. Success blockers - Fears which are Freedom blockers are fear of rejection, fear of failure, fear of success, We are not logical. We are biological. Our emotions decide our state of mind. So Results = Seeds + Belief+Thoughts+Emotions+Actions.  Memoris are a kind of record. Scenarios: 1) Unconscious Feedback Loop: Unresourceful state + Unhealthy Behaviours +Unwanted outcome+Sabotaging Actions. The wound is where the light enters you - Rumi. Energy + Motion = Emotion  (Emotions are energy in motion) "Take control of your consistent emotions and begin to consciously and deliberately reshape your daily experience of life." - Tony Robbins. Emotions have frequencies and vibrations. "If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibrations. "-Nikola Tesla. The law of Vibration is the foundation for Law of Attraction. "Everything is energy and that is all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics. - Albert Einstein. Taking risk and action is a vital part to getting from where you are to where you want to go.
  4. The power of beliefs - A core belief is what makes a thought seem real even though it may not be. Your thinking doesn't create your circumstances, but the emotion and core belief attached to your thoughts influences the outcome of your situation. Thoughts+Actions/emotions = Outcome (life crash or take off). Beliefs -)Thoughts-) Words -) Actions -)Habits -) Values -) Destiny. M. G. Wheel of life -) solar System ) Centre is you - surrounded by Body/Finance/Environment/Spiritual/Purpose&Passion/Relationships/Emotions/Career - You are giving and pulling out energy from each of them. Habit is the key to making any changes in your life. Habits are formed when actions are tied to a trigger by consistent repetition so that when the trigger happens, you have an automatic urge to take action. The habit loop is the neurological loop that governs any habit. It consists of three elements: A cue, a routine and a reward. Habits are formed through constant and consistent repetition. Make one positive change everyday. SDU 30 day challenge. 1) Pick one small, positive habit which will take only 5 to 10 minutes 2) Come up with a plan on when and how you will implement it. 3) Do the habit immediately after the trigger. 4) Build in positive feedback - enjoyment, game, healthy competition. 5)Play to win.
  5. Questions that shape your life - Ask the right question. Evaluation is power. "It's not the events that shape my life that determine how I feel and act, but, rather, it's the way I interpret and evaluate my life experience. " Right question have the power to cause a complete mental turnaround.
  6. Transformations - with courage, and by not tolerating what is happening, and taking every possible opportunity, we can transform our lives. Get ready to be comfortable by being uncomfortable. Seeds for the transformation are the blueprints of your life.
Changing seeds means changing the meaning you have created for certain events form the past and present. It means changing how you feel about these traumatic events. I means cleaning the cobwebs of your life. It means functioning to your fullest potential each and every time. Two powerful tools for transformation of seeds: a)Having a burning desire b) Following role models.
  7. Momentum - Rewrite your story. - The root, the soil, the trunk, the branches, the leaves, the fruit, the seeds need to be taken care of. Values guide our daily decision in life, and provide us the confidence that we are making the right decisions and energize us to act accordingly, keep us in check and ensure we don't compromise in the path to success. Emotions are the honest communications we have with ourselves.
  8. Optimize - Stop dreaming, start doing. Create your compelling future. Big goals require big energy. Goal setting is like climbing a mountain. The peak is your destination, you cant see it clearly and you do not know the obstacles en-route. The closer you get, the better the clarity. You need to set intent for the journey. When you set your intent, you are directing your reticular activation system (RAS) to stretch towards your desired goals and future and to also enjoy the journey getting there. When you set your intent, you are marrying your subconscious mind with your conscious mind an that will make it happen in reality. Set your intent everyday when you wake up. Goals in writing are dreams with deadlines. ACT - I - ON : "Persistence will give you what you want, but consistency will allow you to keep it!" Rewire your DNA for massive success.
  9. Celebration and gratitude - Celebrate small wins to achieve big goals. Gratitude, is the rocket to catapult success into your life. Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance. -Eckhart Tolle.
  10. Success stories of people who dared to dream.
Procrastination is not the real problem, but a symptom. It will do a bandage work.

Car – Ferrari – unable to drive?

  • ·        Drivers skill
  • ·        Unclear of direction

When you drive in slow lane, you criticize and put yourself down.

Even though you are in  a situation like this, there is something that is happening in your innerspace, and you are unable to fix it.

Success is the outcome of playing at excellence.

Think, feel and act – your results are a sum total of these

It is difficult to change the habits in your life, but not impossible.

Results are outcome of what is happening in your space. Where you are? Mediocracy or in excellence?

Where do you stand in your life?

You need to set your expectation.

Goal setting is a conscious process, and achieving goal is an unconscious process .

You need to continue to work on this reviewing, until your mind is reformed. One question you must ask yourself is, how many of your are interested and committed?

My Life In full - Indra Nooyi

95th of 2021 was My Life In full by Indra Nooyi. Through her various interviews that I have watched on TV and online I admired her power of storytelling having read about her and many controversies, glad that we can read her view all here. Can't Thank her enough for this.

Three things helped her achieve her dreams, her passion and action, support from family both parents and spouse and her energy with just needing 5 hours of sleep everyday during her journey from Chennai to Calcutta and then to Connecticut to Chicago and back travelling all around the world. She generously credits many mentors and her supporters though out her career at Meetur Beardsell in Madras, J&J Bombay, Yale SOM program, BCG consultancy work, ABB, Motorola and later PepsiCo. The hard work, passion, attention to details, strategic perspective, were brilliantly narrated along with the various assignments in detail, and you can’t but be impressed with her ability to ask the right questions and integrate diverse disciplines. Design thinking she narrates is very relevant and a lot to learn.

Indra Nooyi talks about Performance with Purpose, and that those two elements can co-exist. Nourish humanity and the community in which we live, replenish our environment, and cherish the people in our company with Respect and result.

PnP: Nourish, Replenish, Cherish.

Some notes to remember are:

"Many young people, worried about how they will manage it all, are choosing not to have children. This could not only have dire economic consequences in the decades to come, but, on a very personal note, I find  this detail sad. With everything I have accomplished, my greatest joy was having children, and I wouldn't want anyone to miss the experience if they want it.

I believe that we must address the work and family conundrum by focusing on our infrastructure around 'care' with and energy and ingenuity like never before"

"Fundamental role of a leader is to look for ways to shape the decades ahead, not just react to the present, and to help others accept the discomfort of disruptions to the status quo.

"With a can-do sense of optimism and a must-do sense of responsibility, we can transform our society."

"If you take on something, you must give it your all and if you make a promise, keep it" Thatha insisted on reliability and being a life long learner. He said, "The day I stop, my mind will atrophy. And then the body will follow".

Educating girls remains the bedrock of advancing women in our world, although poverty, violence and ancient male-dominated cultures still stand in the way. The benefits are endless. Educated girls and women are healthier, contribute more to the paid economy, and have far fewer children as teenagers themselves. They lead in their communities.

Work, it's not really optional. And that's good, because the benefits of paid work hardly need review. Humans thrive when they are challenged; they are proud when they've done a job well and gain from being with people who share the same goals. And we all need money to live.

BCG founder Bruce Henderson, invented the "Growth share matrix" in 1970, the oft taught model that rates businesses as cows, dogs, starts and question marks, depending on their relative market share and growth rate.

I wonder why I am wired this way where my inner compass always tells me to keep pushing on with my job responsibilities, whatever the circumstances. If I feel that I can help make something better, then I cannot stop myself from jumping in. I have a deep sense of duty and find it very hard to say no if someone asks for help. I love my family dearly, but this inner drive to help whenever I can certainly has taken a lot of time away form them - much to their dismay. I sometimes with I were wired differently.

Being a mom is a full-time job, being a wife is a fulltime job, and being an executive is more than a full-time job. All of it requires constant prioritization and reprioritization, sometimes several times a day.

Her mother she says was the catalyst for her career and her safety net.  "Asked me to make speeches pretending I was India's prime minister. She also worried about finding me a husband. One foot on the accelerator, one foot on the brake. Go out and capture the crown but leave it in the garage. "

Huge change has no shortcuts. It requires honesty, agility and courage.

'Good byes are only for those who love with their eyes, Because for those who love with heart and soul, there is no such thing a separation'.

Finally think hard about time. We have so little of it on this earth. Make the most of your days and make the space for the loved ones who matter most. Take it from me. I've been blessed with an amazing career, but if I'm honest, there have been moments I wish I'd spend more time with my children and family. So, I encourage you: be mindful of your choices on the road ahead.

Her trip to South Africa in 2018 was the most memorable in her life. Having heard about the difficult lives of the girls, they only asked hugs from her.

When-she-received-a-letter-in-this-regard-she-thought-this-was-a-joke-and-asked-her-pr-department-to-take-care-of-this-job-

She felt honored to be included in the Smithsonian Institution's National Portrait Gallery with this painting by artist Jon R. Friedman. From her Thank-You speech:

"I hope that any girl, any person of color, any immigrant, any American who looks at the Jon's creation will not only see a portrait. I hope they will see that anything is possible. And I hope they will find their own way of bringing their spirit and talents to bear on the work of lifting up this country and our world".

While her acknowledgment for many end with the credit to her husband Raj and daughters Preetha and Tara, saying they make her whole, the books begins with a foggy Tuesday in Nov. 2009 being in between Barack Obama and Manmohan Singh, President of US and Prime Minister of India at Washington DC, where PM exclaimed, "Oh! But she is one of us!" and the President, with a big smile and without missing a beat, responded, "Ah, but she is one of us, too!". An unforgettable moment of spontaneous kindness from the leaders of the two great countries that have given so much. 'I belong in both worlds'.

Noori : Performance with purpose : Nourish humanity and the community in which we live, replenish our environment, and cherish the people in our company with Respect and result.

PnP: Nourish, Replenish, Cherish.

Cut copy paste, need not reinvent the wheel.

Power of Visualization and Vision Board

Set goals, get pictures, don't clutter, include 5 senses.

Biggest mistake is fear. In 2 to 3 weeks, we keep saying but it is not coming true. It is important not to operate from place of fear, but believe. Divine delay is beautiful, because God is preparing you. Patience is the best gift you can give. Don't say, you want it only in your way.

God, give me this or something better. God knows better.

If you start to draw tantrum, God will take it away. Have desire, but don't have attachment to desire.

Best Practice - Mind movie. It takes time. By the end, you will be able to transport to the environment. Add as much senses.

Vision Board without Visualization and Visualization without Vision Board is incomplete. They complement each other.

One of the power we human beings have is the power of imagination. Combine all senses to create the mind movie.

How do we get the results faster? Have a rough idea, and your personal belief, that will help your visualization come true. Don't create impatience. Impatience is the reason for delay in our attraction. Do a lot of gratitude. By moving into that space, you race your frequency and you will be able to attract what you want.

For health, affirmations work beautifully, make a personal list, stick pics, 'The Placebo effect', we don't need medicine,  if we start to understand our body, and send healing energy and love to the body part, we can create a big difference.

Power of Manifestation. When we believe we are already there, we attune ourselves for that.  We make change in our habits, and be consistent in our habits, embrace and be the shock observer in life. Today we are in the shallow.

For family, it is better to use blessing. We do not have the power to Manifest for others.

Ten steps - Have clarity:

  1. Dream Life
  2. My Values
  3. My Roles -Roles should cover: Health, Money, Career, Self Growth, Owner of (materialistic) , Relationship with other people, recreation goals/hobbies, Charity, Emotions
  4. My Markers - Three to 5 things under each of the role to be nurtured for a better life.
  5. My top 10 goals, from the markers - 10*3 = 30
  6. BHAG - Big, heavy , audacious goal - Goal that will have ripple effect - North Star
  7. Affirmations - Mantra say as if it has already happened. - Our subconscious understands emotions - Very very important tool - it works like magic - take each goals and make it affirmations. Keep it in your energy. - A word or a sentence. - Elegance, Discipline.
  8. Visualization
  9. Choosing our pictures - what does it do to you? Does it connect with you?
  10. Making it personal.
I am loving my new health as my yoga is making my life sexy.
I am loving my new black saree, which make every one go wow
I am loving ...

Your faith in the board will make it work for you.

Bell Bottom - RAW

Bell Bottom, directed by Ranjit Tewari, is inspired by true events during the reign of Indira Gandhi as Prime Minister of India. The film narrates the story of the 1984 plane hijack in which a group of separatists first landed the plane in Lahore and then took it to Dubai and from RAW (Research and Analysis wing) enacted by Akshay ensure that India don't give away to the demands of the hijackers.

After a plane is hijacked and lands in Amritsar, the seventh hijacking incident in five years, Kumar is brought in to save the day. The film centres around his plans of a daring covert operation to rescue 210 hostages and neutralise four hijackers. The fact that his operation is connected to personal tragedy makes it more impactful. Here again the emotional exchange between a mother and son is beautifully portrayed.

Lara Dutta as late Indira Gandhi in the film has won the hearts of viewers all over.  She said in one interview how tough it was in the freezing cold of Scotland. Am wondering why did they have to shoot it in Scotland? It looked the PMO office in India?

Death - Haridas Chengalath

You roll on, you roar on,

all the living are scared of you,

of your dark deceptive dimensions.

You have rocked, tossed and wrecked

many a vessel with impunity.

You have broken their masts,

smashed their hulls

and sucked them down

to the bottom of your guts.

You have devoured countless hopes

and as many dreams

with sadistic pleasure.

Yet you crave for more,

and gulp down scalps as ever.

You roll on, You roar on,

all the living are scared of you,

of your dark deceptive dimensions.

Sparks: Bouquet of Poems: Haridas Chengalath

"When a sensitive and imaginative mind comes into intimate contact with an emotional situation, a poem is born. The poem presented here bear testimony to such a creative union" - Introduction to the book.

Amazing, Bewitching, thought provoking, simple, free flowing.....

A collection of 23 poetry  each begins with a brief introduction. For example:

"Tapestry"

It has a personal theme. It is about harmony and contentment in marriage. The coming together of two individuals through wedlock has been compared to weaving of tapestry with perfectly blended and matching colours.

Marriage decided by destiny?
Most people tend to believe,
but I accept for sure.

Strangers were we,
like any,
When married years ago.
But in the loom of time,
We were interwoven intimately
into a strong, elegant, tapestry.

Our strengths and weaknesses,
values and dreams,
matching by coincidence,
blended and coloured the fabric
in perfect harmony.

To the designer we would bow
if the tapestry would not fade
until it is rolled up
after the curtains are drawn.

Won't you agree?

Amazon say:

This book consists of twenty three poems. I hope to light candles of thoughts with sparks of emotions and frame the flames on printed pages. Some of my poems capture my intense spiritual emotions and some are critical treatment of contemporary social and religious issues. A few poems are nostalgic recollections and one is a philosophical poem on nature. Other poems are based on purely personal experiences. The poems employ symbols and images to suit their themes and are in the form of free verse. The style is simple, direct and free.
