The quantum Indians, scientists, Sir C.V. Raman, Dr. Sathyanad Bose, learned on their own, hypostasized, made a name for themselves and India. They did not stop there, In the book, 'Space, Life Matter', many scientist produced, so many findings, that we celebrate today, India's arrival in many fields. People who learned on their own and made a great difference.

We need to have that kind of environment. Teachers and Educators have to show the way. Make students wholesome. That is within the grasp of us. Basic attitudes, inspiration, motivation. Fundamental think is attitude that the student, teachers and parents show.

M P Vijaykumar: Important to be agile to come to a conclusion on how the new normal will be. For Employability what is needed is:

  1. Ability for self learning
  2. Ability to handle uncertainty - Volatility, complexity.  Tomorrow the internet would be down.
  3. Ability to work as a team and not individual.

Sujith Kumar:

  1. Work from home
  2. Blended learning is going to be the way forward
  3. One should be high on learnability quotient - Faculty should be able to reskill themselves
  4. Critical thinking, tech savvy, communication skill, emotional intelligence, the current training centers will be used as reskilling center - Companies recruit through Hackathons.
Rashmi Bansal:
  1. New national education policy including - all want to pass exams.
  2. Permanent Employment is not going to be a thing in the future - you have to be self motivated.
  3. Problem solving ability, Perseverance, Practical, Fear of missing out something better - Find something that is interesting, do it your best.
Narayanan Ramaswamy:

World is changing big time, there is nothing called permanent job or permanent learning - so students should be taught, to learn - unlearn and relearn.

  1. GIG economy will give lot of GIG workers - People don't want to be stuck in one job, and like multi tasking.
  2. Social Media and impact on youngsters - Teach them it is okay if things don't happen immediately.
  3. Innovation - We have to be able to find solutions.
NEP - what is needed in the future, and how can we transition from the present.
  1. Multi disciplinary approach.
  2. Have multiple entry and exit
  3. Get into applications and not assessments
Reimagination of how university should be in the future:
  1. Collaboration with Industry and society
  2. Collaboration with outside institutions
  3. Collaboration with other disciplines.
Gap exist between generations, what we need to understand, is how we embrace the change. We grew up in a constrained environment, and took time to understand what freedom is. Today's generation want to be themselves.

First advise to the new recruit:
  1. Curiosity - come up the learning curve quickly
  2. Attitude - work space cannot be defined, need to take ownership at all level - Result oriented
  3. Ability to deliver- communicating, elevator pitch, effectiveness.
Students still look at the old path, could be because of uncertainty or the influence of parents.  Colleges with campus interview, people like to choose that. One has to be a story teller. Student should have self belief and confidence of what they can do.  Not everything should be given on a platter.

  • Play it to your strength.
  • Learn to take stress. This should be taught in college - Yoga, meditation
  • Technology is very exciting, stick to it, and don't go to consulting - if that is your interest. AI CMC thought of in 1990
