Being Kind - Sweta Samota (12 of 23)

Being Kind, 5-Minute Activities and Stories to Inspire Kindness in Kids by Sweta Samota

Kindness is one virtue when instilled in kids can transform them as a person, and help them to become better humans. And what better way to teach them the value of kindness through the power of stories.

Does your kid help you in your housework?
Does he/she love you the way you are or keeps blaming you?
Is your kid missing kindness lessons?

Here is one book that can not only share interesting kindness stories but also challenges them with kindness activities.

What is kindness? It is caring for people around you, being concerned for them, helping them if they are in need. Kindness is thinking about people and being considerate.

A value that can help kids throughout their lives

A value that can help them find happiness easily

A value that can change their lives

The book has alternate Kindness Activity and Kindness stories:

Activities are:

  1. What will you do if you see someone asking for food on the road?
  2. Do you realise your parents work day and night so that you can have food of your choice? Not only that, they ensure you get meals every time you are hungry. Thank them.
  3. Clean up your table, fold your cloths
  4. Hug your parents/sibling and say 'I Love You'
  5. Make your family laugh - tell them a joke or do something funny.
  6. Write three things you like about yourself and that you do not like - Give a pat on and say 'I am amazing!'
  7. Call a friend, ask them how they are and tell them a kindness story from this book.

Stories are:

  • Quest for the lost Princess-  of lost mom and princess wandering around on the road, then not many bothering about her and a girl helping her.
  • The Sparrow's Test - Sparrow letting a girl help overcome poverty fulfilling her wishes, another greedy girl, losing beauty and bad gift for overdoing, and wanting more. - Reminded me of the story of woodcutter and axe falling in water.
