How Running Gifts You Glowing Confidence, Good Health, Prosperity, and a Fulfilling Life.  The Running Effect by Sweta Samota

Ever wondered why "your" fitness resolution always fails despite spending huge amounts? - Not having a strong why, no proper planning, lack of determination,

"The Running Effect" is the book that will exactly share these hacks to effortlessly clock runs one after the other.

Interesting, "The habit of running can help you install the habit of completing what you start".

The technique of walking in the midst of running, the issue of the knee and also the clothes one needs to prefer or not was great. Even the aspect of wearing a comfortable shoe and its importance was a key takeaway for me

Find time to run, and take control of your life. Do the 80/20 challenge to find time - Include running in 20% most important needle movers,  in your task list; the secret in continuing lies in the talk that goes inside when you are running. Let it be part of your life like eating, bathing, brushing. Decide a reward for your goal.

Practice is the key be consistent and follow a plan religiously.

  • At some point your mind drives the body and after some point, the body drives the mind.
  • Feel based running at Comfort-1 pace. Start Slow
  • When you have purpose you will have priorities, and your priorities will decide your habits.
  • Purpose-) Priorities -) Actions -) Habit -) Life Style -) Happy Life
  • In running there are three aspects - Learn to run a mile or run for health benefit or run a Marathon
  • Two simple options or techniques to begin with: Run at the speed you walk (baby steps) or Take it slowly, a mix of run and walk in 2:1 proportion
  • Run for joy and not glory
  • Determination, Discipline, Dedication, Empathy and Building trust - are the life skills you learn from running
  • Timing does not matter
  • The day you feel fatigued or lazy, go run, you are not tired, you need some sunlight and fresh air.
  • Exercises - Lunges, squats, pushups - breathing exercise to keep the lungs strong; warm up before running
  • Healthy food
  • The golden triangle - Mindset - Running - Strength training.  Mindset - Mental preparation, Goal setting, Visualisation,

You will never know when you started enjoying those runs,

Don't invest in watches, shoes, and ears, Stay consistent on your fitness goal.

While running:

  • Lean slightly forward
  • Look ahead
  • Keep shoulder blades neutral
  • Bend elbows around 90 degrees
  • Stabilize the core
  • Lift and flex the knee
  • Push off the back leg
Record your work outs daily - include:
Date/Day/Workout type/Duration of work out/Workout details/How was the work out

10 Foundations:
  1. Know you why

  6. Include fruits and vegetables in your diet
  7. Record workouts

  10. Do not skip rest days. Do not overdo. Listen to your body

when you started looking at your diet,

when you started loving yourself,

when you started achieving every damn thing you want.

It will almost feel magical -

That's what "The Running Effect" will do to you.

While the book talks about tools and strategies, Taking 'Action' is the key and is up to us.  Taking Care of self is very important.

Don't believe every thing you hear, there are three sides to a story, yours, theirs and the truth. - Unknown.

The beginning is the most important part of your work.
