Love Story - Movie

The dances tempted to see the movie. written and directed by Sekhar Kammula,  the film stars Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi while Rajeev Kanakala, Devayani, Easwari Rao and Uttej play supporting roles. The film tells the story of an inter-caste relationship between Revanth (Chaitanya) and Mounika (Pallavi) who meet in the city while pursuing their dreams.

Revanth is a lower caste Christian settled in Hyderabad who runs a Zumba center. Mounika, an upper caste girl, also arrives in Hyderabad in search of a job and moves into a neighbouring house. As Mounika is unsuccessful in finding a job, Revanth offers her to share pamphlets for his Zumba center for money but she rejects it for which Revanth mocks her. Following another unsuccessful job trail, she comes to the Zumba centre and dances while Revanth also joins her. Impressed with her dance, Revanth asks her to join his Zumba centre as a partner. Mounica negotiates a salary and starts working with him. Their Zumba centre becomes popular and they desire to expand their business by finding a bigger space in the city. Due to paucity of money, Revanth convinces his mother to sell their land in his hometown Armoor.

Mounica also hails from Armoor and her uncle Narasimham is an influential man in their town. He quotes a far lower price for Revanth's land and Revanth refuses to sell. That night, Mounika confronts Narasimham and demands the share of her money from their property. Narasimham refuses by intimidating Mounika, and she faints. Later, she angrily leaves the town and Revanth follows. She offers her jewellery to Revanth for their business expansion. Revanth mortgages his land and opens a bigger Zumba centre. They overcome their differences and fall in love. Mounika proposes Revanth and he accepts. As she is afraid of her abusive uncle, they plan to elope. Revanth's brother, a police sub-inspector helps them and they devise a plan to frame that Mounika has committed suicide so that no one doubts her whereabouts. They decide to execute their plan after six months and make the necessary arrangements. Revanth goes to Dubai in the meantime and they decide to get married at a registrar's office once he returns.

Revanth waits at the registrar's office but Mounika does not arrive. Revanth worriedly returns to Armoor and meets Mounika. She tells Revanth that she was sexually abused as a child by her uncle and now he is now targeting her sister. She has thus decided to stay back and protect her. Revanth takes Mounika to her house who reveals the situation to her parents. In the meantime, her uncle arrives at their home. He confronts them but Mounika's mother locks him up in a room and asks Mounika to leave with Revanth by promising that she would take care of her sister. They run away by taking Revanth's mother along but Narasimham's men chase them. Revanth refuses to escape and decides to fight back. As Narasimham tries to kill Mounika, Revanth kills him in retaliation and he is arrested by the police. Later the court admits that Revanth's act was unintentional.

Except for the dance, the moving was not upto mark. A bit of disappointment. But can go for 3/5 for the dance.

Romancing The Balance Sheet - Anil Lamba

101st of 2021 was Romancing The Balance Sheet by Anil Lamba. When that has been the bread and butter, there was no other go, but to grab it, when I heard about it.

There were bulb on moments even for finance professionals, which make understanding Balance Sheet, easy for non finance professionals.

Every person, whose actions have the power to affect the bottom line, is a finance person, and interestingly, accountants don't fall in this category.

Divided into six parts the book covers:
  1. Getting your basics right: The two basic Financial statements, what profit is - it is not money, how inventory impact profits, a closer look at the Balance sheet. When you have a dilemma between a common sense answer and an accounting answer, always trust your common sense.
  2. Managing your finance: Good financial Management by itself, cannot lead to success, but bad financial management can single handedly spell doom for any business  , The two golden rules are: (i) Never invest your money without ensuring that the assets you acquire can generate a return which is at least equal to the cost of your capital. (ii) Invest your money in such a way that the assets generate an inflow of funds before the liabilities demand an outflow. Improve profitability, learn to read your balance sheet, beware of the net working capital and the credibility trap.
  3. Maximizing your profit: It's all about Trading on Equity,  applying marginal costing principles and leverage analysis. Profit is an opinion, cash in the bank is a fact.
  4. Romancing the number: Fund flow analysis. Never use short-term funds for long-term purposes.
  5. Financially intelligent Organizations (Fios) If the concepts appeals and wish to get business certified, email anil@Iamconschool.com
  6. Financial Literacy for all : When the individuals of a nation learn to manage their finance efficiently, the nation is bound to be prosperous.
When you can hold a conversation with numbers, when you can talk to figures and make them talk back to you, when financial statements begin to lose their mystery, it is then and only then that you can begin to romance numbers.

Death & Hope - Zindagi Eak Safar Hey Suhana, Yeha Kal Khya ho, Kisne Jana

One day you may hear a voice for the last time; and you never know which day that would be.

A POWERFUL poem by Prof Lee Tzu Pheng

Sip your Tea

Nice and Slow

No one Ever knows

when it’s Time to Go,

There’ll be no Time

to enjoy the Glow,

So sip your Tea

Nice and Slow.

Life is too Short but

feels pretty Long,

There’s too Much to do, so much going Wrong,

And Most of the Time You Struggle to be Strong,

Before it’s too Late

and it’s time to Go,

Sip your Tea

Nice and Slow.

Some Friends stay,

others Go away,

Loved ones are Cherished but not all will Stay.

Kids will Grow up

and Fly away.

There’s really no Saying how Things will Go,

So sip your Tea

Nice and Slow.

In the End it’s really

all about understanding Love

For this World

and in the Stars above,

Appreciate and Value who truly Cares,

Smile and Breathe

and let your Worries go,

So Just Sip your Tea

Nice and Slow."

When I'm dead.

Your tears will flow

But I won't know

Cry with me now instead.

You will send flowers,

But I won't see

Send them now instead

You'll say words of praise

But I won't hear.

Praise me now instead

You'll forget my faults,

But I won't know.....

Forget them now  instead.

You'll miss me then,

But I won't feel.

Miss me now, instead.

You'll wish You could have spent more time with me,

Spend it now instead

When you hear I'm gone, you'll find your way to my house to pay condolence but we haven't even spoken in years.

Look for me now.

People should move on, and not become a prisoner of the past. You grieve. There is no better medicine than grieving. You grieve in private. But come back to life with vigor. All of these is true generally, especially during these times, when there is no hope for tomorrow. Nothing can be more wrong than that.

"Most of the excuses I made...

- not enough time

- not enough money

- not enough knowledge

- not the right connections

...were just ways to avoid the real bottleneck: Not enough courage.

There was always a small step I could have taken—if I had the guts to take it.

Sustainability

We have inherited this planet from our ancestors and own it to the next generation.

Consumers, brands, agencies and people all around are waking up to the need to be sustainable across the entire advertising ecosystem.  Achieving carbon net zero is a genuine challenge every business needs to help resolve.

Consumers are changing purchases based on brand purpose, marketers are using global pandemic as an opportunity to reflect their brand strategy, soon Government will mandate climate reporting by all companies.

It's time for change, Production has a critical role to play in the sustainability effort. Brands must think differently and start to implement positive changes - Debunking the conundrums with a holistic view of sustainable marketing production.

As an example agencies in the UK emit over 884,000 tonnes of CO2per year that equate to 54 million trees to be planted to offset the emission. Carbon-intensive travel, hospitality and complex supply-chains are the factors.

The questions all brands should be asking are:

  1. What was the carbon footprint of our last shoot?
  2. How much single use plastic do we use?
  3. What are the measures we we need to improve?

Our commitment:

  • Setting Targets - say 5 to 10% reduction from existing, adhere to UN Global compact
  • Switching to renewable energy sources - use green energy source
  • Monitoring progress - Reporting policy and review targets.
Need:
  • Awareness
  • Purchase
  • Advocacy
  • Consideration
Benefits:
  • Greater Sustainability - Deliver measurable reduction in carbon emission,
  • Higher Efficiency
  • Better Transparency

How we can help:

  1. Measuring - Benchmarking, understand carbon output along with area of waste, identify areas to reduce emission.
  2. Planning -
  3. Smarter Execution - Virtual, Deep learning AI to deliver multi-lingual content seamlessly

Minimize Carbon Impact for our clients, from digital content to in-store materials. Help brands reduce production waste with expertise and best practices. This can be done by:

  • Removing unnecessary travel
  • Leveraging remote collaboration tools
  • Using energy efficient space
  • Delivering zero wastage for POS & shopper material.
  • Right material
  • Reuse assets and reduce waste
  • Proper Disposal
Alleviate current pain points, get ahead of the industry curve.

Climate change refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns, mainly caused by human activities, especially the burning of fossil fuels.

National solutions to global problem don't work. Voice, ambition and action.  What the world need is - Leaders must not fail, who elects them to lead. When will leaders lead? Act in the interest of people, who are depended on us, don't lead the path of common destruction. - Barbados PM Mia Mottley, UN Climate Change conference UK 2021. Glasgow, Scotland.

From Sid & Pooja this Diwali

Diwali message from Sid and

10 year insights of Life by Design by the one and only Puja Puneet:

From Pooja:

My 10 Lessons from 10 years of being a Life Coach -

1) There is no destination only a journey - many milestones but no arrival for a goal achieved is a goal upgraded .

2) Success has no meaning if you don’t have the right people to celebrate it with - so on the way up ensure you carry with you the people that matter

3) Things over time will stop giving you pleasure - achievement has its own high. There are too many shiny objects in this consumerism world where we are being told all the time what we need . Learn investment because once your money starts making money for you …. All else will lose its shine

4) Emotional maturity is the path to enlightenment- how much can you protect your inner peace ,manage your disappointments, handle your expectations , change your disempowering stories the better the quality of your life

5) Life is not fair - don’t ask god why me because no one is getting out without facing something just pray that we all learn & grow through our own set of hardships

6) Reduce judgement - clean yourself detoxify by giving people permission to be themselves . Grow your heart to include the opposite of what your values stand for and this world will feel home for all

7) Master Gratitude - the one emotion tat changes everything . Make it your religion . Whatever you are complaining about is so small in comparison to all that you have and some of us don’t realise or know that . Develop the eyes to look at life as a blessing and it will become one

8) Be kind - everyday all the time to yourself and others the world needs more kindness than righteousness.

9) Forgive easily - holding onto grudges reduces our vibration . You don’t have to trust them again . You don’t even have to have them in your life . But learning to let it go will truly free you

10) Create a mission greater than yourself - live a life of contribution. Someone in this world should benefit because you are alive and there . Make your life matter . Live meaningfully

Palam Kalyanasundaram - The Richest Man on Earth

Palam Kalyanasundaram, born on August 1940 in Tirunelveli district of  Tamil Naidu is of 81 years (As of 2021). He studied at the University of Madras. Gold Medalist in Library Science

Government of India’s Best Librarian Award. He is a retired librarian and Social worker.

Have you heard of him? What is special about him?

He was honored as the Man of Millennium by an American association.

The guy is a role model and also an adopted father to the legendary actor – Rajnikanth. Do not underestimate the lifestyle and education of this great legend.  According to his educational background, he is a gold medalist in library science and also holds masters in literature and history. Kalyanasundaram has acted the role of a librarian for 30 years. Apart from working as a librarian, he has also worked as a waiter in a hotel in a deal of 2 meals a day and some salary. The young librarian served his company effortlessly and donated his entire monthly salary to the orphans. He continued to do so, till his retirement. To add more, this amazing and inspiring man never married with the intention to serve his country by his kindness.

Kalyanasundaram also donated his monthly pension to the needy orphans. After Palam’s retirement in the year 1998, He founded “Paalam,” a social welfare organisation.

The past life of Kalyanasundaram will amaze you and take you to a different world of kindness. A normal looking grandpa figure has been through a list of struggles in his past life. He was motivated and inspired by his mother to help the poor and needy.

Kalyanasundaram lost his father at a tender age. Kalyanasundaram strongly believes in words said to him by Thamizhvaanan, writer of self-improvement books, “Don’t bother about how you speak. Strive to make others speak good about you.” He had found his calling: child welfare.” These words were used by the great writer to bring Kalyanasundaram out of the discouragement of his feminist voice. Achievements and Rewards:

He was awarded a sum of Rs. 30 crores as a part of his contributions towards the benefit of orphans by an American organization; however he gave the lump sum money in charity. He is among the first person in the world to have donated his entire salary to the needy.

The list of awards does not end from the Life Time of Service Award to the Rotary Club of India. Kalyanasundaram is among the top 10 librarians in the world. He also won the award of the best librarian in India, by the Union Government. Super Star Rajinikanth thrilled by Palam Kalyansundaram’s passion to help needy, Rajinikanth adopted him as his father. Palam Kalyanasundaram still stays as a bachelor as he dedicated his entire life for serving the society.Kalyanasundaram’s kindness and selfless acts teach us to leave our possessions in search for affection. It is not a piece of cake to live on two meals a day and have nothing in your pocket despite a handsome salary and stable job. He donated his ancestral property, jewelry, assets and everything that belong to him.

Kalyanasundaram said;

"I have proposed a 1000 crore project to the government called Internation Tamil Digitial Library. The government was quite hesitant about it since it requires a lot of money. But, Bill Gates has agreed to give 900 crores on behalf of Microsoft for the project and the working for the project has been successful.

When you're awarding celebrity stars, a grand event with security is required, but to appreciate a social worker like me, you can do it anywhere and everywhere. My mother pointed out three things to be happy in life. Don't be greedy in life, whatever you achieve in life have 9 parts of that with can be retained with you but remember to give one piece of it to people who are needy. Always remember to help at least a life one day. Be it a cow or a tree. I ensure to follow these things every day. I have an international award that was received by only 2 Indians. One was Mother Teresa and then me. United Nations recognized 20 outstanding people of the 20th century and I was the first person from Asia to receive that award.

The biggest award considered in the world is the Nobel award but there is a bigger award than that and that's the man of the millennium award. It is given every 50 and 100 years. I have also got that award. I am telling all these things here because I have not effortfully tried anything. I just followed what my mother told me. If you follow it too, you can be a king or a queen."

“One can get money in three possible ways. First, through earnings; secondly, through parents’ earnings, and thirdly, through money donated by someone. But there’s nothing more fulfilling than being able to donate money for charity out of your own earnings.”

Dr. C. P. Mathew

The old man in the right in this picture can be easily mistaken for a great priest !!! No!  He is Dr. C P. Mathew who was the Head of the Oncology Department at Kottayam Medical College and later principal. On the 'right' is Brahmashree Suryan Subramanian Bhattathiri.

Dr Mathew was the first oncology professor in Kerala, Head of the Oncology Department at Kottayam Medical College and then the principal. As a professor of oncology at the Trivandrum, Calicut and Kottayam Medical Colleges, he was the first to introduce brachytherapy involving insertion of radioactive implants into cancerous tissue, as well as use combined radiation therapy and chemotherapy to successfully to battle cancer.

After retirement he became better known as a pioneer in Integrative Medicine, for he combined Siddha, Ayurvedic and other traditional remedies with modern medicine to the considerable benefit of end-stage cancer patients. To thousands of grateful patients and his students, he was Mathew Sir. Later when he retired he was a flying doctor and visiting professor of allopathic cancer treatment at universities in more than 50 countries.

At the age of 60, he decided to unlearn everything he had learnt earlier and accepted a Lada Vaidyan (a physician of traditional tribal medical system), whom he met on the street, as his guru.

Then this great doctor saved tens of thousands of cancer patients from death using the neo-pagan Siddha medicine he learned from the late lada guru. Patients he saved include many rejects ftom  the Mayo Clinic in America.

He was an in-depth student on Indian cultural texts, including the Vedas and the Upanishads.  What's more, he received the Upanayana from Suryakaladi Mana, famous for its "Tantric rituals" and spent the rest of his life as a Sanatana Dharma Acharya.

Dr Mathew passed away on 20 Oct 2021 at the age of 92.

As Savarkar was organizing the freedom struggle, Nehru studying there, remained aloof and changed the university. Madan Lal Dhingra was an Indian revolutionary, pro-independence activist. While studying in England, he assassinated William Hutt Curzon Wyllie, a British official. Gandhi had condemned his at, while Savarkar went to his darshan when in jail, before being punished and considered him to be a Martyr. Soul was tormented with his death, and wanted to be back to India. His elder brother Babarao and Younger brother Narayan (Bal) were arrested in 1909, and taken to Andaman jain. His SIL Yesuvahini wrote to him about this, to which he responded "Immortal is the family tree that has extinguished itself for the nation, its fragrance of human welfare spreads all around...."
  5. Two sentences of Transportation for life- The year 1909 began with the death of Savarkar's son Prabhakar from small pox. He was arrested in 1910 ;but he made his famous but failed escape to France. His case was brought before Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague where he unsuccessfully pleaded his case . His case was widely discussed by international media.
Imprisonment: Finally, he was tried and sentenced fifty years prison term by Bombay High Court and taken to infamous cellular jail in Andaman and Nicobar Islands
  6. Kala Pani - Though tortured a lot, he did not flinch, and saved many from committing suicide.  As there was no pen and paper, he used to write on the walls of the cell with pointed nails and cordage plant thorns.  Baba and Tatya were brought out of the cellular Jail on 2 May 1921 to Ratnagiri Jail, where he wrote 'Majhi Janmathep' and thesis on Hindutva.  Then he was moved to Yerwada jail. On 6 Jan 1924, he was released on condition that he would abstain form any participation, public or private in politics for five years, stay interred in Ratnagiri district and leave forthwith for Ratnagiri.
  7. Internment at Ratnagiri According to him, if social activity is the shield, then politics is the sword, and each is incomplete without the other. He worked towards eradicating caste system, organized cultural events, started Cafe, penned musical drama. Savarkar exhorted Hindus to organise themselves nd stoutly protect the rights due to them. He wrote Mala Kay tyache arthat Mopyanche band (how do I care or the rebellion of the Moplas) in 1926, based on the 1921 Moplas right in Kerala, where 2300 killed, 1050 wounded, and thousands of conversions and rape of women-folk) took place. The Khilafatist leader Maulana Shaukat Ali and Savarkar met in 1926, He told Savarkar, "I am a giant, you are a pigmy; I shall crush you in a moment" , to this Savarkar responded, "Do try but remember the Shivaji-Afzal Khan episode!" He worked on purifying Marathi language, and was keen that alien words  language should not be mixed. "Forget my leap into the sea, if you will, but do not forget my thoughts in the social sphere" was Svarkar's refrain!  He was father of a loving daughter Prabhat Chiplunkar ;who was born in year 1925. In 1935, there was a huge signature campaign to demand his release. Gandhi refused to sign the petition which Nehru threw it away. He was asked to join congress, which he did not, The great patriot, Lala Lajpat Rai worked for the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha from its inception. It is  misconception that Savarkar found the Hindu Mahasabha.
  8. With You, If You Come - There were three issues - nationalism, Pakistan and minorities. he expressed the Hindu Rashtra thus, "Free will she herself be! She will free the world". One of his guiding principle was, not just public adulation but rather public welfare is the goal. It was his view that hiding one's true beliefs and hankering after fame was not the sign of a hero. During the 1940s, Socialists in Maharashtra would say, "We want the Savarkar of 1908", To this, Savarkar would say, "It took 1937 for you to understand the Savarkar of 1908. It will take another 30 years for you to understand the Savarkar of 1937. Svarkar would say that he accepted the principle that religion should not be brought into politics.  But he was opposed to injustice being done to one religion. His plain talk was "If you come, with you; if you don't, without you; and if you oppse, in spite of you - the Hindus will continue to fight for their National Freedom as best as they can!" In 1938 was was elected as the president of the Hindu Mahasabha, he said, break pens and take up guns.
  9. Lone fight for Undivided India - Savarkar would demolish the argument that Hindu-Muslim riots were a result of the British policy of 'divide and rule' and that before British arrived, there were no riots, but wars. In 1940 Subash Chandra Bose met Savarkar, who asked him to meet Rash Bihari bose in Japan. According to him, military would help save India and get Independence, quit India will lead to split India. 10 May 1942 at Savarkar's directive, the Hindu Mahasabha observed Anti-Pakistan Day and Independence day. On 7th Aug. 1942, Gandhi said Jinah and Muslim League could take over power from British, which he did not accept. Hindu Mahasabha observed an Anti- Pakistan week, and Akhand Hindustan Leaders Conference in Oct. 1944. Truth, non-violence and Hindu-Muslim Unity, were Gandhi's pet theme.
  10. Ordel By Fire - Truncated Freedom and the ordeal.  5th Feb, 1948; Savarkar was arrested the Bombay Public Security Measures. They dissolved the Abhinav Bhart.
  11. I am Blessed, I am Blessed. - In an article written in 1963, Savarkar wrote, "Those who end their lives in a spirit of frustration, dissatisfaction or discontentment and cannot live happily even though they do wish are said to have committed 'suicide'. But those who happily end their lives with the blessed sense of having fulfilled their life mission or objective are said to have committed self-sacrifice. " He would address Gandhiji and Nehru as Mahatmaji and Panditji, He would say, "several great men are born, much like the several peaks of the Himalaya." One such peak is Vinayak Damodhar Savarkar. At 11.10 am on 26 Feb. 1966, embraced death voluntarily in the highest tradition of Yoga. On 24th Feb, he folded hands and in a feeble voice, bade farewell in the words of poet-saint tukaram, "We are going to our native Home, Accept our good-bye; Now there can be no give and take, The speech itself is stopped. "
and died many years ago. She was mother of a son, a son Vishwas Savarkar ; who worked with a corporate house-Walchand Group- and was also a known author, His grand son Ranjit Savarkar stays in Mumbai and is spearheading Savarkar’s philosophy.

Emotional Skills of Managers

Emotional intelligence is an essential management skill.By managing your own emotions and by maintaining an emotional balance, you learn to manage situations objectively and clearly.

In this module you will:

  • Understand how emotions work
  • Recognize and manage your own emotions as a manager
  • Manage emotionally charged situations
Understand how emotions work:

Emotions seems to be banned at workplace, though it is everpresent.

We have feelings about people, how do they work?

  • The 4 basic emotions
    • Fear - Obstacle
    • Anger - Danger of Threat
    • Sorrow - Loss
    • Joy - Desire
      • Spin offs of these are
        • Agitation
        • Irritation
        • Hopelessness
        • Warmth
        • Jealousy
        • Anguish
        • Distress
  • Expressing emotions
  • The 3 elements of communication

If you acknowledge your emotions, you will most likely be able to satisfy your needs.

Accepting your feelings is important and beneficial. This can make you sensitive to the signs of emotional triggers and what requirements or actions need to be taken.

Only appropriate actions and responses to needs will lead to positive results.

To help you identify your feelings better, ask yourself these questions:

The 3 elements of communication

To understand the way emotions are expressed, Ian thinks about the different elements of communication. What do you think is the role of each of these 3 elements in the message communicated?

Non-verbal: General body posture, gestures, facial expressions - 55%
Para-verbal: Voice, tone, pace, flow - 38%
Verbal : Words used - 7%

By not expressing your emotions verbally, you increase the likelihood of them being expressed at other levels.

This will also tell the people around you that emotions are taboo to you and are forbidden. This will prevent you from gaining access to a great deal of information required by Management.

Welcome and accept your feelings and get them to work for you.

Emotions are neither good nor bad - they are just emotions

The 4 basic emotions (fear, anger, sorrow, joy) and their spin-offs have a trigger and reveal a need to be satisfied

By identifying your emotions, you can take the actions required to satisfy your needs. Your refusal to recognize them means that your needs are not met and this generates frustration

Although emotions may not be expressed verbally, they will transpire in your behavior and be detected by your co-workers who will receive inconsistent information, i.e. distortion between what is felt, thought and said

Does the situation correspond to a success, danger, loss or dissatisfaction?

What is the corresponding emotion?

What is the appropriate response?

Recognize and manage your own emotions as manager

  • Avoid pent-up emotions
  • Avoid associated emotions
  • Manage your own feelings

A self-assessment will enable you to review your reactions.

The characteristic features of “repressed” emotions are:

  • It's a sign of weakness to show one's emotions.
  • I don't like it when others show their feelings.
  • I keep my feelings to myself. It's true that sometimes I am under tremendous pressure and I feel like exploding and saying what I really think.
  • People say I master my emotions. I like that, but at the same time I don't get to share and bond with others.

Avoiding pent-up emotions

  • It's a sign of weakness to show one's emotions.
  • I don't like it when others show their feelings.
  • I keep my feelings to myself. It's true that sometimes I am under tremendous pressure and I feel like exploding and saying what I really think.
  • People say I master my emotions. I like that, but at the same time I don't get to share and bond with others.
Effects of pent-up emotions
  • Resentment, bitterness
  • Personal suffering
  • Loss of confidence and self-respect
  • Few constructive relationships

Avoiding associated emotions

  • I live my emotions intensely and I am ardent about expressing them.
  • Sometimes, I can't control myself. I just have to let it all come out.
  • People say I'm hot-headed.
  • I feel like I'm always in a "state of emergency".
Effects of associated emotions

  • Waste of energy
  • Apparent effectiveness
  • Loss of control
  • Violent verbal escalation
Avoiding associated emotions as manager, it is counterproductive to manage your emotions badly.

For the manager:

when emotions are not managed, this generates defensive or rigid behavior, e.g. autocratic, over-controlling, laissez-faire or paternalistic behavior.

For co-workers:

when the manager's emotions are not managed, this is counterproductive and generates demotivation, fear of risk-taking, inhibition and stress.

Managing your own feelings

  • Pent-up emotions
  • Associated emotions
  • Managed emotions
Well managed emotions are about:

  • Being truthful, being yourself
  • Being relaxed in tense situations
  • Handling confrontations in a cooperative manner
  • Stress limited to what is strictly necessary

Be careful not to bottle up or aggravate your emotions.

When the boss' emotions are not managed, this is counterproductive and generates demotivation, fear of risk-taking, inhibition and stress. To develop your emotional intelligence:
  • Be aware of your feelings in all situations
  • Be aware of your reactions
  • Develop your capacity to manage emotions by accepting them
If I don't manage my emotions, my emotions will manage me.

Manage emotionally charged situations

Expressing your own emotions positively

The OFNR method originates from Marshall B. Rosenberg's concept of Nonviolent Communication. It is useful for anyone who wants to improve their relationships with others or attain greater self-understanding. To express your emotions use this 4-step method.

  • Observation  - Observe the actual behavior that is affecting you and describe the facts, e.g. "When I see..."
  • Feeling  - Express your Feelings on this behavior, e.g. "I feel..."
  • Need - Be aware of and express your Needs, e.g. "Because I need..."
  • Request -Request for a specific change in behavior so as to restore the feeling of well-being, e.g. "I would like you to..."

By following the OFNR model, you learn to:

Express and share your feelings by giving information and feedback to the other person

Express and share your needs by explicitly requesting what you need

Help your co-workers to express their feelings and needs

To express your feelings, use the Non-violent Communication OFNR model:

  • Observation of the situation
  • Expression of Feelings
  • Expression of Needs
  • Specific Request

These 4 steps help you to:

  • Express your feelings in a focused manner
  • Formulate your request in such a way as to satisfy your needs

To manage your emotions, you should learn to:

  • Recognize your feelings
  • Express them appropriately

By not verbalizing your feelings, you slow down the development of positive relationships.
Your unmanaged emotions prevent your co-workers from letting you know how they really feel.

It's up to you to develop relationships of greater openness with your co-workers and to establish trust within your team to become more effective.

Put these into practice.

Prioritize Work Tasks to Avoid Burnout

13 virtues for a balanced life followed by Benjamin:

  1. Chastity
  2. Sincerity
  3. Tranquility
  4. Humility
  5. Justice
  6. Industry
  7. Moderation
  8. Order
  9. Resolution
  10. Cleanliness
  11. Silence
  12. Frugality
  13. Temperance
To keep your work and life in balance priorities. Choose one at a time and finish it. Don't attempt to do all at once.

Don’t just prioritize your tasks at work.

You can also prioritize tending to your social, physical, and personal tasks during the workday and after.

Don’t just prioritize your tasks at work.

When you have a lot to do at the same time, prioritize your tasks based on the urgency and impact of the tasks.

An urgent task is one that must be solved quickly. If it’s not, it will affect your ability to either do your job or keep yourself healthy and happy.

A high-impact task is one that heavily affects your company’s bottom line or that heavily affects your well-being.

Here's how you can use urgency and impact to prioritize your tasks:

  • Do things that are impactful and urgent first
  • Handle issues that are impactful or urgent next
  • Handle issues that are neither impactful nor urgent last

Don’t just prioritize your work tasks. Prioritize tending to your personal, social, and physical needs to keep yourself in balance.

Body Language

55% communication is provided by non verbal communication.

Body knowledge includes the position and movements of various parts of the body, postures, eye contact, facial expression and gestures.

Interpreting body language is subjective, beware before coming to the conclusions. Gaze is different in different regions. Posture will mirror the other person.

There are four zones of proximity: Intimate, social, personal and public. Gestures are also important.

Observation is reliable only to the extend of attention paid. Pay attention.

Easy to come to wrong conclusion if you do not focus on the whole body message. Don't jump to conclusions. The longer you observe, the better will be the understanding.

First Impressions

Our opinions of people are formed quickly, particularly when meeting them for the first time. Initial assessments are based more on what we see, including their body language, than the words they speak. In some cases first impressions are formed without a word being spoken.

Cultural Differences

Some elements of body language are universally understood, however the majority are effected by cultural differences, or are only relevant to one culture. For example the head nod which is often interpreted as agreement, means no in Bulgaria and is used as a polite form of encouragement in Japan.

Yours & Theirs

Remember that while you’re studying another person’s body language and interpreting their non-verbal signals they will be doing the same to you.

Eye Contact

Able to convey a feeling in a single glance, eyes are often referred to as ‘windows to the soul.’ Eye contact can help with the interpretation of the message as different eye positions represent different meanings. These meanings will change if a person is left-handed, as the definitions for looking left will become the definitions for looking right.

Gestures

Forming part of our everyday communication, gestures are easily learnt and controlled making them an unreliable source of information that should only be used in conjunction with other verbal or non-verbal signals to interpret a message.

Thumbs Up

Widely recognised as a positive signal in the West, a thumbs up represents approval, agreement and the suggestion that all’s well.

Thumbs Down

A thumbs down is a negative signal, translated in the West as the physical representation of disapproval and failure. Historically associated with gladiatorial contests in Ancient Rome, thumbs up and down signals were used to signal the losing contestant’s fate.

Index Finger and Thumb Touching at the Tip

Putting the index finger and thumb together to form an ‘O’ shape while extending the other three fingers is often interpreted as symbolising OK. However in Japan it symbolises money, in France its represents zero and in Brazil, Germany and Russia it’s considered an offensive gesture.

Wagging Finger (Side to Side)

Wagging the index finger from side to side is traditionally seen as a warning to stop what you’re doing and do as you’re told.

Palms Up and Open

Open, upward facing palms is a submissive gesture that symbolises honesty and is a physical representation for ‘I don’t know the answer’. Its symbolisation of honesty is believed to have evolved from a time when the gesture was used to show a person had no weapon, however it can be faked to convey innocence.

Steepling

Formed when each fingertip touches that of the corresponding digit on the other hand, while pointed upwards like the steeple of a church. Although the fingers are always spread they can either be rigidly straight or curved. The gesture represents thoughtfulness and is often used when people are looking for explanations or connections between things.

Crossed Arms

A defensive gesture that suggests reluctance, crossed or folded arms form a barrier between people. Caused by severe animosity, concern, boredom or tiredness the gesture suggests they’re closed off and uninterested in the exchange. However, it’s important to read the gesture in context as people also cross their arms when they’re feeling cold.

Nodding Head

In the West a nodding head symbolises agreement and usually occurs when invited to respond or voluntarily while listening. It’s best used in a one-on-one situation as it can be missed in a group setting.

Shaking Head

Generally interpreted as a sign of disagreement, a shaking of the head represents feelings of disbelief, frustration and exasperation. It’s an obvious gesture when used one-on-one but can be lost in a group.

Facial Expressions

According to Paul Ekman there are 6 universally acknowledged facial expressions.

  •  Happiness
  • Sadness
  • Anger
  • Fear
  • Disgust
  • Surprise

Gaze can show the level of interest in an exchange.

Gestures are easily learnt and controlled which can make them an unreliable source of information.

Goal of Life - Osho

"Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans."

— John Lennon

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8MeqJxs4iM

While living live. Intensely.

Livva little hot, forget about Gold spot.

"My whole life I have been telling you there is no goal! Life is its own goal. There is nothing outside life that you have to achieve. All achievement is the projection of the ego. The very idea of achievement is ambition. What you achieve does not matter --  money, power, knowledge; these are not in any way going to give you life. In fact, in achieving power, in achieving money, in achieving prestige, in achieving any other ambition, you are losing your life, you are sacrificing your life."

You will realize only at the time of death. I have been trying to achieve the goal of life, and forgot about life itself. Goal is always in the future, and life is here. You don't need to achieve life, you are alive. Living people live. Goal is the Grave.

Henpecked (that's the natural growth of all) Husband died. Wife ordered a beautiful grave, with name in gold and words 'Rest in Peace'. When the will was opened he had given all his money and property to charitable institution , and nothing for his wife. That was his revenge. A man can take revenge only after his death. She went to the graveyard and told the person, make it  'Rest in Peace, till I come'.

Existence is not moving to some target. If the goal is there, sooner or later it will be achieve. Then what?

The Power of Hypnosis - Marisa Peer

Unlock Your Full Potential and Create the Life You’ve Always Wanted Through the Power of Self-Hypnosis

Rewire Your Subconscious Mind for Incredible Self-Worth That Lasts Through Marisa Peer’s New Flagship Self-Hypnosis Course.

Marisa Peer is the proponent of Rapid Transformational Therapy,  I am enough movement and 5 books.

Feel, see and do amazing.

The subconscious mind is where we want to go to.  Hypnosis is a trance-like mental state in which people experience increased attention, concentration, and suggestibility. While hypnosis is often described as a sleep-like state, it is better expressed as a state of focused attention, heightened suggestibility, and vivid fantasies. People in a hypnotic state often seem sleepy and zoned out, but in reality, they are in a state of hyper-awareness. It's like having cheer leader in your head.

Manifestation and Affirmations are of conscious mind. While Unconscious mind is running the show. It is where fears are. Sub conscious mind is the gene, it is the root. It says your wish is my command. That is the connection between the two. Hypnosis helps to find and remove them.

Self Hypnosis is real two way power to get the best from self. Say you can do it the best way. Anything you want in life, that you really want. You can use it to get less of what you don't want.

The pictures you create in your head, and words you tell yourself, make your world.

The science behind it - It has been around the world since time immoral. It's not a magic, its a science.

Thoughts are things. Every thought you think has a physical reaction and emotional response. Every thing start with a thought. It is up to you, you have the ability to change.

There are many techniques of Self-hypnosis. People want everything fast now. There are many ways of doing it. Alfa, Beta, Delta, ....there are four brain waves.  There are two things to it - Getting into it, and what you are saying to yourself. Say positive things and what you want, and not what you don't want. Say relevant things.

Take your eyeballs out, breath in and out. After three times, bring your chin down, and say what you want.

You are not out of control, it is feeding back what you want. The common thing that is wrong with everyone is the feeling - 'I am not enough' - This is the big problem with the world. There is not much wrong with you. 'I am different', 'I want something, but it is not available to me'. 'I am not good enough', 'I am not worthy enough'.

It helps to change your thoughts. Make your believes great. If you believe greatness is in you, greatness will come out of you.

"I have something amazing to give the world, and the world love me."

We imagine so much with your eyes closed.

Look up as high as you can, breath and get down 10 steps, go down, take lemon and eat.

Press area between eyebrow. with eyes closed. say what you want. What it looks like, feel like,  what it sounds like?

You are enough, you are more than enough, you are powerfully loveable. Accept your self a lovable, you see yourself as lovable. Easily accept love. Everyday you are moving from one phenomenal accomplishment to another. "You are enough" , "You are worth of success",

I am lovable just the way I am, I always have been, I always will be.
I am significant, I matter, I am enough, I am worthy.
I am worthy of love, success, joy.

I matter, I am significant, I am enough, I am worthy, I am lovable, I always have been, always will be.

The words that follow 'I am' will follow you always. So use profound, powerful and positive words.

I am amazing, I am incredible.

Say - I love my life - and you will have the life you love.

Self love, worth, image increases.  See it, state it, affirm it. Love yourself, that is enough.

You Matter, and these are the statements of significance. If you don't love yourself, how can others?

You can expand or contract. How I do that is by using positive words.

Self praise, believe in yourself. What you want, wants you. What you are moving towards, is moving towards you.

It will help you get rid of your limiting beliefs.  You are born wired.

Don't be greedy, don't show off , you cant have it all - are all incorrect. Get rid of them.

You can have it all. Believe and you will have it. You have to have the mindset. 85% of success is mindset. Wealth, health, joy, success.

Affirmation is a statement of truth.

What would your life look like if nothing held you back?

Imagine a life where you're living your full potential.

A life free from negative thoughts, limiting beliefs, and endless questions.

A life free from wondering, “What if…?”

“What if I just asked for that raise?”
“What if I just told them how I felt?”
“What if I just took better care of my health?”

Here's the thing, most of our regrets in life are because of the things we didn’t do.

The reason is usually because we get in our own way.

The truth is, none of us were born with insecurities and limiting beliefs.

You weren’t born like this—you simply learned to be this way.

You may not even be conscious of it. But if you pay attention, it could be manifesting in your life through other means, such as:
Chronic health issues
Numerous failed relationships
Debilitating debt
Recurring self-sabotage
Feeling stuck and not knowing how to break free
You may have tried everything you know to resolve these struggles, but nothing seemed to work—you don’t know what you don’t know.

That’s because something deeper is going on beneath the surface that’s keeping you stuck in your old ways.

Something deeper than applying the wrong solution, or listening to the wrong teacher.

That is your fundamental belief that no matter what, you are just not good enough to succeed.

Whether you’re trying to slim down, shape up, or attract the right partner…

Whether you’re trying to get ahead, move forward, or rise above your situation in life...

If you have a subconscious belief that you will always fail, then that will turn into reality.

No matter how effective your solution or how effective your teacher, if you have a constant expectation that things won’t work out, then that can indeed come true.

Why?

Because first you make your beliefs, then your beliefs make you.

The common denominator behind all of our emotional issues…

The number one thing blocking us from happiness and success…

Is the belief that we are not enough.

Once you change this belief, everything else changes along with it.

Health Economics and Life Loss

Everybody would die one day, where, when and how, nobody knows.

Every day is a mystery. It was so hurting to know that we are so engrossed in our work, we have no time to ask for or share others feelings.

We all have a story to  tell. Knowing your life story- the good, bad and ugly parts- helps you become more self aware and improves your relationship with yourself and others. It builds your resilience and grit.

Each of us have these resilient life moments-  some deeply personal. While the scars may remain (as an evidence of healing), through those experiences you may have a newfound appreciation for life, discovering personal strengths, a sense of enhanced relationship with self and/or others, discovery of new possibilities and/or a sense of deepening spiritual changes (Tedeschi & Calhoun)

While the choice to share any personal BUT resolved  resilient life story moment is ones to make, to share is the best way to show you care. Talking helps.

Attended recently 'Dr M Roshini Memorial Oration' and it was thought provoking.

Suresh Bhimsinghji said - Be connected  when people are alive. Call up someone you miss, tell them how much you care. Ask them  "How are you? How can I be of help for you? "

Naresh Kumar - Udaykumar - Asha,  Courage is a grace under pressure.

Manivannan - Health Economics - Ravi Shanker

Health economics is a branch of economics concerned with issues related to efficiency, effectiveness, value and behavior in the production and consumption of health and healthcare. Health economics is important in determining how to improve health outcomes and lifestyle patterns through interaction between individuals, health care providers and clinical settings. In broad terms, health economists  study the functioning of healthcare system and health-affecting behaviors such as smoking, diabetes and obesity.

Pandemics change the way we practice:

  • Demand Supply
  • Insurance penetration
  • Government Intervention
  • Investment in Public Health
It will help to:
  • Attract new patients
  • Retain existing patients
  • Attract and retain right talent
  • Tech adoption
  • Know your balance sheet
  • Succession planning/liquidity of your efforts
Top line is Vanity
Bottom line is Sanity
Cash flow is Reality

Some people survive, some perish - thrive.

  • The fortune at the bottom of the Pyramid - C.K. Prahalad

It's wrong to say Profit is a bad word in healthcare. Profiteering is bad.

As we continue to look at the radical changes sparked by access to technology, we must reflect on how often organized systems operate in the presence of change. In evolution, we have seen how organisms focus on perceiving changes, responding to environment through selection, and remain agile by maintaining diversity.

If companies want to thrive in disruptive environment, they must perceive change, continuously develop alternative solutions, and select product/service features that reflect market forces.

Mutation, Evolution and Disruption - this is how organizations adapt to change in environment
