Eric Karl Anderson's 50 books for An Armchai Setective

A reading guide with titles to tick off one at a time. From supreme examples of the genre, to newer and less know, all are included here. Some veer more towards crime, comedy, the supernatural or the literary. The great thing about mysteries is that if you like a particular one, there's usually an entire series of books featuring the same detective or location. Each book offers its own unique style and form of suspense.

From the famous Agatha Christie, loved Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conon Doyle to Bella Ellis and Sujata Massey; many find a place here - Hark back to a nineteenth-century tome considered to be a pivotal tale of mystery or explore an array of choices from the golden age of detective fiction. From lavish English mansions to small-town America, from a train journey in the Andes to a bustling community in Botswana and a Japanese island, the settling of these tales circle the globe and present a wide diversity of characters.  Of course, this list isn't completely comprehensive. It has been designed to hint at possibilities and suggest authors you might want to try. The great things about mysteries is that if you like a particular one, there's usually an entire series of books featuring the same detective or location.

As the author writes in the cosy crime and the thrill of the chase - challenge yourself to solve the crime before the culprit s revealed. Take this list as a reading guide with titles to tick off one at a time, or pick and choose from the books within to try something new.

Bibliophile and book blogger Eric Karl Anderson will provide lots of inspiration in these pages.
