Employee to Entrepreneurship by Siddharth Rajsekar

Both need different skill sets, there are few things to be considered before you make the jump from being an Employee to Entrepreneurship. In some cases it is better of to be an employee. Entrepreneurship needs a different mindset. There are 12 things to consider before making the jump:

  1. Responsibility : Energy with which you start business matters, it should not be an escape route.
    1. Family
    2. Financial
    3. Time
  2. Timing :
    1. When to resign
    2. Is now the right time
    3. Can we do it in parallel
  3. Comfort Zone: It will be more uncomfortable, you have to be ready for it. Need buffer for 6 to 12 months.
  4. Learning New Skills: Other people are not working for you. You cannot apply same concepts
    1. New People skills
    2. Marketing Skills
    3. Sales Skills
    4. Business Management Skills
    5. Financial skills
    6. Networking Skills
    7. Communicating Skills
  5. Business Models
    1. Manufacturing
    2. Distribution
    3. Retail - Online and offline
    4. Services

  6. Passion: Love what you do, only then you will be able to sustain.
  7. Work Hours: Employee can have fixed hours, but Entrepreneurship needs whatever it takes (WIT). When a rocket takes off, there is lot of resistance, and it will take more time.

    2. 6 month - Replace your job income
    3. 12 month
  12. Money Management -
    1. Make

On a scale of 1 to 100 where do you stand? This is going to be where you need to work on. If you score before 50, stay in your job. If you are in between 50 to 75% you will need mentors. Don't keep jumping from one course to another.

Don't keep jumping like a butterfly. Follow one system/mentor. How do we know if our validation is right? We need to Trust our intuitions. There will be little voices and resistances. From family and well wishers. It's the confidence that will help break through. Shift your environment. You will be the average of 5 people you hand out with. Real growth when you focus on one, than putting your foot on both the boats. Right time is when you are confident and have validated the market. It will be different for different people. Watch the biography of successful entrepreneurs. Soak yourself with information.
